I'll never see this - Anyone else the same?

Brad Pitt, DiCrapio and Tarantino is just too much for me in one film.

Maybe two out of the three in combo I could handle but all three together just seems a step too far.

I've never been able to take DiCarprio and his wee red bawheid seriously. I mean he was eye candy for girls in Titanic (which I never understood given his head) but here we are a few years down the line and he's built up with Pitt here like they're a pair of real acting gods. Do most people really buy that these days? Just seems too weird to me.

And Tarantino, yeah for years I thought his films were cool, real event cinema. But now I guess I'm just too old and cynical for that too. I just can't be buying that either...

Anyone else not completely blowing their wad over this one?

I actually do want to see this one in the theater. I think QT has his problems, but even if his films don't really grab you, they have a lot of flair and have big stars, so in a sense, a movie like Django isn't very good, but it's entertaining. Despite it's flaws. I'd like to see a CapPitt film made by QT. Sounds like fun. The stars don't want to make crap films that are under their reputations. I just hope there isn't too much violence, and with Charles Manson involved, it might be.

reply

Im not a huge fan of Di Caprio but he was spot on in this

reply

I'm a huge Di Caprio fan...this movie just confirmed it
He was magnificent

reply

I can't say never. I go to redox and I might rent it if nothing else is out.

reply

Sounds like you're just a crabbit auld cunt noo mate. No offence. But choosing to watch a film t some point in your life doesn't mean you're completely blowing your wad over it. Or even partly blowing it.

reply

What are you going on about. Ramblings of a lunatic. You’ve not seen the movie you have no basis to judge it so don’t come on here criticising that you can’t back up or go watch it and then come back here and give your opinion.

reply

You want to know what's the "Ramblings of a lunatic"? I'll tell you. Coming on a thread entitled "I'll never see this - Anyone else the same?" and saying "...go watch it and then come back here and give your opinion". Especially after I've already made one reply saying thanks but I wasn't looking to have my mind changed, I was just genuinely interested if anyone felt the same way about these guys...

Seriously dude that's some special sauce stuff you've written there, it's nuts - you said I came on here without having seen the movie so have no basis to judge / criticize but I haven't criticized it AT ALL since, erm, I haven't seen it! That. Was. The. Point.

Your rant has no place on this thread. It'd be like me going on the Leonardo DiCarpio board, looking up a thread saying "Leo's Great - what do you love him in?" and dumping a reply there saying "I hate Leonardo DiCaprio, all his films are garbage, he can't act". Seriously, what's the point of doing something like that?

reply

This is a movie board to talk about the movie by people that have watched the movie or are interested in watching the movie. Not for people like you that say they ain’t gonna watch it and why. Shall I visit every Rom com movie board and say I have no interest in watching this movie and here’s why. I don’t like the genre I don’t like the director and I don’t like the actors especially as It has 3 actors I don’t like so I’ll be definitely swerving this one folks. Who agrees with me? Pointless mate. I’ve watched it so I come on Here to see people’s opinions and see your pointless thread and just annoyed me. Your asking people if they are thinking of not watching it?? Why would you come on here and ask that? Don’t watch it then! But if you do watch it come on back here and give your two cents as I’ll be interested to hear your opinion.

reply

Very good points you make here. Shall we look up all the rom / coms we can and visit all their boards and announce we’re not going to see these films? Other genres? We could make a career out of it. Who’s with me?

reply

Yes, you absolutely should do that! It's great that you understood and got onboard with the wonderful logic that posting on a very specific board due to the very specific circumstances of certain actors and a director coming together is EXACTLY the same as randomly posting on any board of a certain genre 😂

Good luck with your quest!

reply

Thank you for your support.

reply

Yay! Let’s all not watch stuff together (perhaps we could go to the pub instead), then go onto a board of the film we haven’t seen and find out if there are other posters who feel the same way.

We could start a whole new site and call it notmoviechat?

reply

Exactly. Lol

reply

I wish I hadn't wasted my time seeing this movie. Watching Brad Pitt driving around. Watching Margot Robbie go to a movie and watch the movie. Sounds exciting but it's not.

reply

Sounds like you slept for most of the movie to me...

reply

It really was way more than that

reply

Anyone who still dwells on Titanic as a reason not to see a Leo film cant be taken seriously.

reply

Leo was great in this...

reply

What about someone who posts a comment like yours despite the OP already having stated they've seen other Leonardo DiCrapio films thus invalidating that comment before it's even been written... Should they be taken seriously?

reply

I thought the same, especially re Quentin Tarantino. (I stopped watching his movies after Kill Bill I, which made me throw up because the visuals were so violent and spastic. I mean, I was pregnant at the time, but still! I had to leave the theater and sit in the lobby while my husband finished the movie, and it was annoying. I digress.)

I only watched Once Upon a Time in Hollywood because we ran out of other stuff on Netflix and my husband wanted to see it. But actually, it was really, really good. It was memorable, and, you know, by the time we get to our 50s not a lot of movies are memorable.

I understand what you mean about DiCaprio: he does have a "pretty boy" look about him, and the fangirling over Titanic was so overboard* (all the women I knew who had seen it twenty times, I just couldn't understand it. I saw it once and spent half the movie rolling my eyes). But I think he is actually a good actor. (Have you seen Blood Diamond? I was really impressed. He captured something unusual and it was good.)

*no pun intended

reply

No, haven't seen Blood Diamond.

Not to say I won't ever. I have seen some of his films at some point, e.g. Shutter Island & Inception, which are both ok / pretty good to be fair but not, to my mind anyway, as a result of his acting by any stretch.

Going back to the OP - from a year ago now! - it's really the combination I couldn't swallow...

reply

Haha, yes I understand.
