Why are most people not OUTRAGED by the murder of you-know-who??

I mean, he was the most important character in human history, was going to defeat the machines in the future and win the war for humanity, and his and his mother's story was the raison d'etre, the backbone, the core story of the first two classic Terminator movies! And this movie just casually kills him off and basically tells us "so you wasted your time and investment in those first two movies, see our future diversity quota heroine, she's much better than any white boy"!

This happens, and people, even supposedly T1/T2 fans are OKAY with it? I mean, they must be, because I haven't heard many other people criticising this choice in the movie!

I despair for moviegoers if they're just going to shrug their shoulders at such a major event, as there should really be a BOYCOTT! It may be just a pair of movies, but people love them, and all the sequels have done is muddy the storyline and ruined it, especially this current turd!

Re-examine this movie, "fans", and see it for the travesty it IS!

I wonder the same thing

Maybe because the Terminator "sequels" have been shitting on the franchise for decades now and we view them as non-canon cash grabs, which they are. I'm amazed that Cameron was okay with this idea, because it's basically Alien 3 all over again, and he was certainly against that... killing beloved characters right away at the beginning of a sequel.

I just think most people don't care about this franchise as a whole anymore - Star Wars is quickly becoming the same way.

reply

You hit the nail right on the head! The Terminator franchise devolved into a movie-making-mess that kept rewriting original story lines. As far as I'm concerned the TRUE Terminator franchise consists of the Terminator and Terminator 2 - Judgement Day, nothing else.

reply

Agreed and it's how a lot of people are viewing it. With some maybe accepting T3 as well but most have just accepted that T1 and T2 are the sole terminator movies in the canon terminator timeline. With everything else being Alternate timelines.

reply

I think people don’t care because at least killing him made some sense.

Whereas genisy or however it was spelt turned him into a terminator and made him the villain which is a way worse fate than him being killed early on.

I think if the last movie hadn’t so badly crapped the bed or didn’t exist. Then yeah the choice to kill him would recieved way way way more backlash.

reply

I don't consider Genisys to be canon at all, like ANY of the Terminator movies after T2.

reply

Never said it was canon, and after dark fate was annouced as the true sequal to T2 a lot of people don't consider it canon.

My point was how a lot of fans who would have seen that movie and seen John corrupted into the very thing he fought against, would have been numb to John dying in this one.

Had this been the only other terminator movie, then I imagine there would have been loads more outrage, I know there has been some though.

reply

I wasn't even aware of that. That has now made me decide that I don't want to watch this. And seriously, I can't believe Cameron was actually on board with that.

reply

Yep, was a really stupid move and took me out of the movie right from the get go!

reply

The movies was more about Sarah then John..John was the leader of the resistance but this is alternate timeline that Sarah created by destroying skynet, it makes sense the way the movie did it. Watch the movie and judge for ya self stop listening to other people.

reply

I'd say ridah DID judge for himself, movielover1990.

reply

They did defeat SKYNET.

reply

Yes, but another "evil supercomputer" took its place, which is another thing that irks me. And why would an entirely different supercomputer be using the same tech as Skynet? No, it's exactly as I explained it, and this movie SUCKS.

reply

I didn't bother watching Salvation or Genisys in the theaters. Won't be watching this one in theaters either...and maybe not at all.

THIS is what they were billing as "the real T3"? What's sad is that I was expecting they would do this. I thought: "No John anywhere in all this news? Let me guess--they kill him off and make the girl the new leader?" Big "YEP" to that prediction of mine.

Amazing...I've never witnessed a single series screw up this badly this many times...except for Star Wars. Disney Star Wars and Terminator--two butt-fcked franchises I grew up with.

I can't believe this film isn't getting as much bashing as the other sequels. The idea is absurd.

reply

Have you guys seen Ed Furlong lately...?

I didnt like this movie that much at all...less so the more i think about it.

But at least they tried something different, a different take on the Skynet/John Connor/Sarah triumvirate. If it had worked, it may have rebooted the franchise properly. But it looks very likely that won't happen.

reply

BINGO.YOU NAILED MY FEELINGS ON THE FILM EXACTLY.

reply

Tried something different how exactly? This is basically a rehashed PC version of T2 with less interesting characters and shitty script.

reply

Check out Jeremy Jahns spoiler review of the movie. He's FURIOUS about it.

reply

OTHER THAN ROGER EBERT R.I.P....THE ONLY THING WORSE THAN A FILM CRITIC IS AN ONLINE FILM CRITIC.

reply

Nah. Jeremy knows his stuff... I loved Roger Ebert, too.

reply

I AM NOT AWARE OF THIS MAN...I WILL LOOK INTO HIM.

reply

GOOD TO HEAR.

reply

Don't you start with the all caps! ;)

reply

I CAN'T HELP IT. IT MUST BE CONTAGIOUS.

reply

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Ah, that's better.

reply

Jahns sucks.

reply

Well, to each their own. I think he's great.

reply

He´s like those 35 year old YTers playing Minecraft for 7 year olds. Too much enthusiasm. If he did his reviews in a normal speaking voice, he´d be okay.

reply

Well, yeah...he's a typical American.
