Season 3 Will Introduce Non-Binary And Transgender Characters

Here comes the Outrage from trolls who don't even watch ANY CBS Star Trek! From a demisexual's comment:

> I’m all up for having gay, non-binary and transgender characters somewhere in the Star Trek universe but all of them on one little ship? There are Stamets and Culber and now there are Adira and there is Grey. Philippa G. is bisexual. That’s five characters primarily based on a different gender identity. IMHO a tad too many…

Joining the cast in season three is Blu del Barrio, playing the non-binary character Adira, described as “highly intelligent with a confidence and self-assurance well beyond their years.” Adira will find a new home on the U.S.S. Discovery and form an unexpected bond with Lt. Commander Paul Stamets (Anthony Rapp) and Dr. Hugh Culber (Wilson Cruz).

Also joining the cast is Ian Alexander, playing the transgender character Gray, described as “empathetic, warm and eager to fulfill his lifelong dream of being a Trill host, but he will have to adapt when his life takes an unexpected turn.”

Hey, this sounds great!

I've never seen a non binary character in real life so will be a lot of fun to see one on the show. Who knows - maybe this will inspire both myself and others to become non binary...

Only thing I worry about is about with all this expanded diversity is whether it will allow enough space for the development of the fat character? I guess, truth be told, that's the No. 1 issue for most kids today so it was good they had a relatable role model to look up to. Would be sad if her time lands up getting cut to fit these others in.

Oh, fuck off, you woke wanker!

reply

Well double willy wonka woke wanker on you!

Why are you so supportive of this show (from what I can see, at least)? Overlord DVD has already criticised it for having just 0.2 as an audience score, as a NEW show and not a repeat of the many QUIZ shows that are also around that figure! Secret Hideout has RUINED Star Trek, face it!

reply

I'm not sure why you interpreted my post with being so supportive of the show per se.

All I said was that it's going to be real exciting like to see a non binary character in the flesh having never seen a real one before.

Aren't you, even in the slightest, non bi curious?

hook , line , sinker and copy of Angling Times , sir!

reply

Fucking LOL.

reply

I'm sure those guys wearing skirts in Encounter at Farpoint beat them to it! 😁

reply

That should please the 3 people actually watching it.

reply

Thanks for the warning! I'll steer clear of that crapola.

reply

Such repression!

reply

What does that mean?

reply

It wasn’t a recurring character but they already did this in 1992 in the TNG episode The Outcast.

reply

Was that the one where Riker got it on with a eunuch or something? Dude would try to screw a wormhole if he could.

reply

It wasn't a eunuch, the species just had one gender, neither male or female, but they still had the occasional transgender birth, which presented as either male or female (as in Riker's case, and whom he fell in love with).

reply

That was it. I think I’ve only seen that episode once Back when I first watched the series. It wasn’t one that inspired me to rewatch.

WOW...LOOK AT ALL THE TRIGGERED BABIES🙄
