BIGGER THAN ENDGAME !!! πŸ¦„ πŸ₯πŸΈπŸ’°

Over 40 year buildup, Disney must be expecting 3 billion easily

reply

major lolz, I doubt it even makes a billion.

reply

$700-800 million

reply

Less than CaptainMarvel? Wow most people never heard of character. That would be pathetic.

reply

Yes, that would be less than Captain Marvel. (Full disclosure: I wrongly predicted a worldwide gross of $850 million for CM.)

The difference is that the Marvel mythos has been steadily and expertly built up over the past 11 years and across 21 films, whereas the Star Wars mythos was merely mimicked in Episode VII and was utterly destroyed in Episode VIII. There is nothing left on which to build.

reply

Less than CaptainMarvel?

Well, there's quite a few doubts about the numbers in Captain Marvel.

reply

You mean there's conspiracy bullshit posted by anonymous misogynists like you.

reply

Seems like a fair assessment.

reply

5 Billion

reply

5.3 billion.

reply

These feeble numbers are too small. JAR JAR ABRINKS is back at he helm so they expect 7 billion, the entire Earth population to see it.

reply

People who major in lesbian dance theory don't have 3b

reply

why not 6 billion
2 billion domestic

reply

7 billion? this is episode 9...

I don't think it will make more than Endgame, but I really hope it does. Star Wars is an original franchise whereas the Avengers is based on comic books. And I'm sick of hearing so many Avengers fans talk about how it's one of the greatest movies of all time. I know they're both Disney, but I'd rather it be Star Wars on top.

Star Wars is based on The Hero's Journey, and is inspired by Kurosawa's The Hidden Fortress. Original? Really??

And what makes you think that the comic books aren't original?

Total hypocrisy from an ignorant person.

reply

I didn't say the comic books aren't original, I said comic book movies aren't original. They're adapted from comic books.

In the case of Star Wars, it's an original screenplay that was inspired by something. It was even nominated for "best screenplay written directly for the screen" at the 1978 Oscars. To say something was "inspired by", you can say that to almost anything. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is an original story that was inspired from a postcard that Charlie Kaufman looked at. That doesn't make it any less original. He won an original screenplay Oscar for it too. For all we know, The Hidden Fortress was inspired by something in Kurosawa's life but it's still an original idea.

Disney will be lucky to get 800 million at this point in time, unless the future trailers blow people away which i doubt they will , i didnt flinch when it was previewed before End Game, the cinema was silent, where as TFA trailers, i bust my nut multiple times.

Since TLJ, a part of star wars died for me, i had every action figure and toy from 1977 to 1984 and sold them for a large sum of money after i watched TLJ , the flame for star wars burnt out, not completly , cause im rather excited for The Mandalorian , however the Skywalker saga ended in 1983 for me, the sequel trilogy is pointless. Shame Feige and Russos bros didnt have some creative input when Disney bought Lucasfilm.

reply

"Oh, I don't think so" says Obi-wan!

Hmm probably not. A lot of people were put off by TLJ whereas in comparison a lot of people loved Infinity War which ended on a cliffhanger resulting in the buildup to Endgame to be so much bigger. This makes a billion easily, but probably falls around 1.5 is my best guess (like that is terrible or something lol). Personally, I have never been less excited about a SW movie before, but with that being said, I will go see it eventually just to see how it ends. I am VERY excited for the Mandalorian though!

I know your post is sarcasm but I'll respond to it as if it is a legitimate question.

There is not a snowball's chance in hell this gets anywhere near Endgame. Star Wars and Kennedy and the idiots in charge of it are a dumpster fire. Marvel is run very well and they really put together good stories and have thought out all the characters and left the audience wanting more, wanting to find out what happens when Infinity Wars ended.

Star Wars is run by buffoons. I'm surprised they didn't go with a third different director this time around to do whatever the hell he/she wanted and to go even a third different direction and 3rd vision for this.
What's there that the audience is dying to find out about? Defeating the First Order? No, they actually defeated the Empire in Return of the Jedi...I haven't been interested in this "no Jedi didn't happen.....there is still an Empire....still more Sith....do over" plot ever since it started.

What's up with Luke now?....Well, Johnson ruined that.

How is Rey so powerful with ZERO training? No reason, she's a nobody....she just is. This is how the force works now in 2017-19, you don't need any training at all ever.....the Master Jedi/Padawon training.......it's gone. You just wake up as a Jedi Master now. That's how it works. Ok, well no need to see the 3rd film. I don't care about the First Order, Luke is ruined and Rey is the most powerful Jedi ever without any training just.....because.

No thanks, I'd rather go re-watch Avengers Endgame (an awesome film and saga) multiple times rather than to go see this clusterf**k franchise that is run by idiots.

Maybe if the guys who did Marvel ran Star Wars than this would be the biggest blockbuster ever.

Nope, instead we get rehashed 1977 Star Wars plot, "subverting" our expectations with all the old heroes and plot line, character development, story-line mad libs as they pass the hot potato story from one director to the next each one goes off on their own.
