It really does though.

Honestly, I'd rather listen to country music.

reply

I'd rather have ice picks run through my eardrums than listen to either.

reply

Country can be okay at times if they don't make it sound generic.

reply

I like the "old" country western stuff, from when I was a kid (before electric cars but after electricity itself).

I like Patsy Cline, Ray Price, Glen Campbell, Marty Robbins, Johnny Cash, some Hank Williams, etc. Lately it's the same freaking song with everybody "scooping" the notes.

reply

Now it's all about the beer and being a redneck.

reply

Patsy Cline was incredible and her songs still resonate today. She was untouchable as a live performer too

Unbelievable live voice that sounds like it came from the recording studio

reply

Yep. In the "old" days, pitch manipulation didn't exist so performers usually had either exceptional voices or exceptional vocal techniques or both. The ones that didn't could still sing on key and were pushed back in the mix a bit and a bit of reverb added, but I can't think of one of the old performers who weren't at least a bit professional vocally when performing live.

But even on a recording, they might have required several takes required, but without electronic correction, there is an honesty to the old analog recordings.

reply

Yes if the listener doesn't like it.

reply

I am willing to acknowledge that country music is actual music as opposed to rap, but I do have more rap songs in my collection than country songs. Country is basically to the US what Schlager is to Germany.

reply

I can respect country music. Most people write their own songs and play their instruments. Most of it just sounds the same to me and there are too many songs about being a redneck who likes beer. Rap is absolute shit.

reply

IF YOU HONESTLT THINK YOU CAN QUANTIFY AND REVIEW AN ENTIRE GENRE OF MUSIC WITH ONE WORD AND THAT WORD IS SHIT...GUESS WHAT YOU HAVE FOR BRAINS?💩

reply

You can quantify and amount of anything with one word. There are many kinds of apples but I describe them as delicious.

reply

ROAD APPLES TOO?

YOUR PROPOSITION HAS BEEN DEFEATED.

reply

That doesn't mean all. If I say America voted for Biden, does that mean everyone voted for him?

reply

Rap is absolute shit.

SHORT,DUMB AND WRONG...GET OVER IT,WEIRDO.

reply

It is. And it gets dated easily too.

reply

THERE YOU GO AGAIN...TAKING DECADES OF AN ENTIRE MUSICAL GENRE THAT ENCOMPASSES MULTIPLE STYLES AND VARIATONS AND INSISTING IT IS ALL IDENTICAL IN SOUND AND QUALITY.

reply

Do you think girls are hot?

reply

I THINK GIRLS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 18 AND 50 WITH BROWN HAIR WHO ARE SHORT AND WEIRD ARE HOT...THE OTHERS...NOT SO MUCH.

reply

So does that mean you think all weird, short brown haired girls that are 18-50 are hot?

reply

IT WOULD SEEM YOU ARE ARGUING MY SIDE...ENDLESS VARIATIONS MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SAY ANY GENRE SUCKS BASED SIMPLY ON IT'S GENRE.

reply

No, I am saying it's okay to generalize an entire genre with one word.

reply

NO.

reply

I don't know what passes for Rap today but historically as long as the message was positive and/or valid it was OK in my book. Some people may not realize this but country music has evolved from what was seen on Hee Haw back in the 1970's. Either way not all styles are going to appeal to all people.

reply

I like country if there is some rock infused in it like Creedence Clearwater Revival.

reply

🤣

reply

Are you laughing at CCR?

reply

I AM LAUGHING AT YOU THINKING CCR IS COUNTRY ROCK...YOU WANT COUNTRY ROCK?...THINK MORE ALONG THE LINES OF THE CHARLIE DANIELS BAND OR DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS.

reply

From CCR's wikipedia:

Genres: Swamp rock - roots rock - blues rock
country rock - Southern rock

reply

WIKIPEDIA IS OFTEN WRONG...AS ARE YOU...THIS TOPIC INCLUDED.

CCR is not country...........

reply

Well played, samoanjoes.

reply

I like some rap music. I like country better though.

reply

Rap is devil music.

reply

Nah, the devil doesn't like rap. I heard he only likes jazz.

reply

Prepare for the horror of country rap

reply

Yes LIL Nas X is awful

reply

Maybe the two genres will cancel each other out and create something explosive.

reply

Since moving to Texas I've become more fond of country music, but rap is still one of my favorite genres of music. There is no shortage of bad rap music, at least to my ear, but there is a wealth of brilliant hip hop out there if you're open-minded and willing to listen.

reply

I had a phase where I tried and did every decade. I just can't stand it. Only individual songs are okay.

reply

i don't like having to live in world where it's the most dominant culture. i wish something else would come along.

reply

I feel the same way about Rock music.

reply

Rock music isn't dominant.

reply

Not like it used to be

reply

It should be more dominant. I think it's the most diverse genre and one of the few genres where people use actual instruments instead of using a board to make all the sounds.

reply

CLASSICAL SOUNDS LIKE THE GENRE FOR YOU IN THAT CASE.

reply

It's okay but wouldn't want to listen to it all the time. But rock is all instrumentation too.

reply

A LOT OF ROCK IS A THREE CORD BUFFET.

reply

Hard rock, psychedelic rock, grunge, punk ,blues rock, metal, folk, instrumental, surf rock, industrial, progressive, alternative, indie, glam, new wave, soft rock, jazz fusion, occult, stoner, gothic, art rock, acid rock and space rock. I don't see how most of them have three chords and isn't diverse.

reply

DISINGENUOUS...I NEVER SAID "MOST"...AND YOU AND I BOTH KNOW A LOT OF BANDS IN ROCK RELY ON LIMITED CHORDS AND CREATIVITY.

reply

1-2-3-4!

reply

Only if you're talking about AC/DC

reply

making up a load of meaningless sub genres doesent make a genre better or more diverse,
Otherwise dance music would win

It just makes people argue over terms.

reply

This is a response to Kowalski saying there are only 3 chords.Does he really think all or most of these subgenres use 3 chords?

reply

YOU ARE THE ONLY PERSON SAYING THAT,CHONGO.

reply

i understand your point.
