It's amazing how many posts are about how unattractive the females are in these movies.

Dune Part 1 right now on page 1 has Zendaya not pretty enough to be a romantic interest, AND Rebecca Ferguson not beautiful enough to be the mother.

Dune Part 2 is nothing but shitting on Florence Pugh.

I had no idea there were so many supermodels and 10's that watch these movies and wanted to post on how ugly these women are. I don't get it. Each one of these women are beautiful.

Bring on all the hate at how I am wrong I guess.

This is a bit like when I read posts criticising sports teams / players. Inevitably you will get some chump who feels the need to chime in with a comment like "Oh, and how many caps have you got for England?" or "And how many championships have you won?".

Complete nonsense of course. The logical fallacy being that you have no right to make comment on a particular performance unless you personally have achieved that yourself. Clearly utter garbage.

irulan discribed in the book as a beuaty and feminine looking

florence pugh look like a fusion between gimli from lord of the rings and paris hilton. so yeha. they are right

reply

Hmm I can actually see what you're talking about there.

It is a bit weird that girls like Florence Pugh and Sydney Sweeney who are at the lower end of average are being pushed as sex symbols. They aren't ugly but they certainly aren't beautiful.

reply

pugh isnt average. she is way below average. from her masculine shaped skull, jaw, etc. to her manly voice. to her weight to height ratio (which makes her look like a woman dwarf)

irulan is a princess.

reply

There's still a big difference between them and those with bodies like Lizzo or faces like Sarah Jessica Parker. Pugh is at the lower end of average for me like I said.

I'm with you on her being miscast for Irulan though. Irulan is supposed to be one of the most beautiful people in the known universe and Pugh is seldomly the most beautiful woman in a crowded room.

reply

Pugh depends entirely on how she's made up. Pugh can look rather average but she can also be beautiful.

I thought she looked quite nice in Little Women. And even though she was sporting a completely different look in Fight With My Family, I thought she was cute there as well.

reply

That’s like saying only chefs can comment about bad food. 🙄

Difference between the women in films/shows and the people complaining about them is the people complaining about them aren’t in films/shows wanting people to spend money to look at us.

And if studios went us to spend money to look at the women in films/shows, then cast hotter women.

If they don’t, we’ll damn we’ll complain about them until the studios do cast hotter women. It’s called customer feedback.

reply

What if hotter women are cast, but can't act?

Also, considering the type of movie this is. A movie with drama and weight, if hotter women were cast but couldn't act, it would severely undermine the movie and affect the quality.
If hotter women were cast but could act, it makes no difference. The focus would be on the drama and the story. That's what people would remember and take away.

reply

Talent isn’t exclusive to ugly actresses.

There are a lot of hot women out there who can act. Just find them and cast them. Not that difficult.

reply

Yeah exactly acting isn't fucking rocket science, you don't have to find ugly woman to do this job...

reply

The target audience for sci-fi epics is geeks. The fat ugly ones are incels. They get booted off Reddit and end up here!

reply

Exactly. If you don't have massive coconut-sized bazungas, you aren't gonna win over the sci-fi crowd. The one exception is slave Leia from Episode 6. But otherwise, you'd just have to clone Alexandria Daddario 500 times to please the sci-fi nerds.

reply

@Satan2016
Have you actually seen the movie?

It's quite a mature movie. It takes itself seriously. So I think the audience for this is not just geeks. In fact, you could argue the target audience for this movie is actual adults, who are anything but geeks.

reply

That why you’re here?

reply

It's OK to have unattractive leads EXCEPT when the female is supposed to be a main character's romantic interest. Zendaya isn't the right choice for that role cause the viewer can't see why the protagonist would be infatuated with her

Rebecca Ferguson (who I found to be decent-looking infact) isn't playing the role of a romantic interest in the movie, so her appearance doesn't matter: they could cast a 3/10 female in her spot. But Zendaya's role needed a better-looking girl

reply

Are you taking the piss?
What sort of comment is this?

How about the fact Paul saw a personal connection between him and Chani as the reason he was interested in her romantically?

If you watched the movie, you would know that Paul is consumed by his destiny as a messiah to the tribe he now calls family on a desert planet holding a rare mineral fought after by several different organizations throughout a galaxy in the far future.

Paul is not in the same situation most people, if any, will be in their lifetimes.
He has not been established to be similar to a teenage boy in 2024.
In fact, most people whatever the age or time, make romantic connections based on PERSONALITY, not looks. So your comment is out of touch with reality, let alone the movie you're talking about.
A movie that involves giant worms, a floating overweight albino as a leader, as well as other things not found in our world.

Here's some advice, if you want a guarantee of good looking girls to your standard, no matter the acting abilities, stick to porn.

reply

It’s a guy thing. You wouldn’t understand.

If you’re going to release a boring movie, at least give us hot chicks with big boobs. Preferably uncovered.

reply

Well, Zendaya isn't that attractive AND she can't act. I haven't seen enough of Florence Pudge, but she doesn't seem to be a remarkable actress, at least not for what this movie requires...Soooo why not have some attractive females instead?

reply

Why don't you just watch porn if that's all you care about?

reply

You’ve been triggered…take a breath and step away from the message boards for a few days.

Zendaya is miscast in this film, it’s as simple as that.

Florence Pugh was a miss as the quintessential cosmic beauty Irulan.

As far as the remaining female actresses in the movie I’m fine with them.

The biggest miscast imo is Walken as the emperor. Not sure what they were thinking there.

reply

I'm not triggered, I was just giving a response to a stupid comment made about something that is, in actual fact, irrelevant to the quality of a movie.

The comment I gave would be the same comment the average person would give if MuffCabbage said the same thing to people in public.
They'd say if attractiveness is so important to someone, the only movies they would be guaranteed this as the priority would be porn.

Therefore, if members of the public would say this, someone on an online message board can say the same thing as well.

This message board is not an escape from reality.
If someone posts something they would not be allowed to say in public, or would be crititicised for saying in public, it is a duty and a responsibility for someone to pick up on this and represent what real people would say if MuffCabbage actually said what they said on this board to a real person's face.
