A Better Ending.

A better (and more interesting) ending would have been Jim proposing to Aurora and after she says yes, he pours the sedatives Gus didn't use into her champagne glass. She loses consciousness and he puts her into the pod.

He sacrifices himself for her. She wakes up at the end of the movie arriving at Homestead II.

Could I please get some wine with all of that cheese?

reply

Cheese would be living happily after on the ship together.

Dumb fuck.

LOL

reply

It's not a zero sum game.

reply

No, he'd be controlling her life again. He's letting her make the choice of how she wants to live her life this time.

reply

but jim was her true love.........as aurora friend on earth said, no matter where she went she would not be happy......but she was happy with jim

this movie is underrated, it goes deeper than most folks realize

I think I'd rather the ship smash into a giant asteroid and everyone has the same fate, than deal with another heart-wrenching twist like this.

Or they could of jacked the autodoc somehow and both gone into hibernation in each other's arms.

reply

Either one would have worked well. The movie is just trying to be a hokey romance and it works on that level.

I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here-https://youtu.be/LE_aVVuNqnE

"Or they could of jacked the autodoc somehow and both gone into hibernation in each other's arms"

Bang on the money. That's exactly what I was thinking/hoping would happen.

reply

I kept saying why don't they both just squeeze in there at the same time?? But no, it had to be the Jack and Rose thing we're only Rose fit on the door LOL.

reply

The ending I would have kind of liked to see would be Jim not being resuscitated and Aurora going it alone for a couple of years before she decided to wake someone else up.

reply

Oh the hypocrisy and irony - I love this idea!

reply

Not better.

She had the power now to make her choice. Let her make it this time. Don't you remember when Jim made the decision for her the first time?

reply

The weak spot with this movie is that there is no contingency for defective pods. Design engineers for such a craft would have calculated the risk and accommodated backup pods if needed, even if they need 100 of them.

In this movie there wasn't even one. If the young couple could convert patrs of the ship into a self sustainable eco-system with growing plants and animals the actual desig engineers could have built more pods.

reply

It was made clear in the movie that the process of hybernating was a complicated one, not just "you go to a pod and sleep"...

reply

I didn't buy that one off explanation
