Great question Who!!!

Shane comes across as being the WORST because he's also got access to MONEY now (which OLIVIA doesn't have yet).

But like you say, she's probably also more CUNNING, CALCULATING, and CRUEL (which one can tell by the things she says and by the freaky CONTROLLING way that she behaves towards PAULA).

My bet is OLIVIA also plans on planting PAULA's necklace (the one her grandmother gave her that KAI didn't take) on ARMOND as a way to try and blame him for the ROBBERY.

So that would also make her look much more DEVIOUS and EVIL than SHANE has been.

And it would also create a much more destructive situation than what PAULA's caused for KAI.

Because KAI can also return the jewelry, confess to stealing it, and be forgiven.

But ARMOND won't have that kind of an option if OLIVIA deliberately LIES to the COPS and somehow plants PAULA's necklace on him as a way to get back at him for STEALING her DRUGS from her.

About 6 HOURS more left to go until the SEASON FINALE tonight !!!

Is it possible the only reason why PAULA was invited to HAWAII was so OLIVIA would have access to the prescription drugs she had in her bag???

That would also be an interesting REVELATION if she and PAULA have a SPAT with each other and Olivia tells PAULA her drugs are the only reason why she wanted her there.

Anyhow, What could happen is OLIVIA plants the necklace on him as a pay back, but then KAI comes forward to confess about being the one who ROBS them, which would also mean the MANAGER won't be arrested.

Or if he's arrested, then he'll be SET FREE again after KAI's confession.

Then we'll probably see the INSURRECTION take place, and maybe all of the GUEST will also have something placed into their drinks (maybe something from the DRUG stash that OLIVIA had)???

Or maybe Mark will also drink one of the drinks that have drugs in it before he goes DIVING with his son QUINN and the instructor???

Also read another message at another board where someone suggested Armond is sent to work at a lower class WHITE LOTUS HOTEL in S2 (as punishment from the company), where Shane shows up to pester him again.

Anyway, from the looks of those PREVIEW CLIPS ... Something WILD is going to happen tonight ... that's for sure !!!

I think Paula was invited to Hawai’i because Olivia loves having her around as her “poor” friend. It makes Olivia feel superior and powerful.

This theory definitely makes sense. Wonder if we'll get to watch a Season 3, and if so, where it will take place the next time??? Season 1 was in Hawaii, S2 was in Italy. I vaguely recall the mention of Japan as a possible setting for S3.

It was very obvious that Tanya was going to opt out of her promise to Belinda. Pretty sad that she even offered in the first place. That was the biggest downer for me. Glad that Quinn broke away from his family. He was my favorite character.

I'm in agreement with you modica. Tanya is currently at the top of my LIST of GUEST that I'd like to have seen inside of that BOX they loaded onto the plane.

Because she probably also only promised to FUND the BUSINESS for BELINDA as a way to get her to BUMP other GUESTS out of her way so that she could have their appointments.

Also wonder how much MONEY was inside of that ENVELOPE that she hands to BELINDA???

Whatever amount was in it there's NO AMOUNT that would MAKE UP for the HORRIBLE WAY she MISTREATED BELINDA who had been NOTHING but KIND and COMPASSIONATE to TANYA.

It was also a BIG SURPRISE to see OLIVIA not RAT OUT PAULA, and to see her put her arm around her and try to COMFORT her.

So guess there's also some hope for OLIVIA as well???

And Most of all one is also VERY SAD to know that ARMOND won't be back again next season, because, imo, he was also one of the MOST ENTERTAINING characters in the show and one is also going to MISS HIM VERY MUCH.

Re Armand. Maybe the next season can be a prequel. Armand’s job and spiraling life before he got hired by The White Lotus. Or maybe the actor can come back as a new character. I will be looking for Murray Bartlett in future projects and check out his past films, series.

Yes a PREQUEL could be interesting, or else they could also do the he's got an IDENTICAL TWIN BROTHER or a look-a-like cousin thing that we've seen happen several times before.

What's Depressing is how OVERALL it's the SELFISH RICH FOLKS who have WON this WAR.

Mark and Nicole got their JEWELRY back again (even though who the hell would want to wear something that costs $75,000 that would also REMIND you all of the time that your husband had CHEATED on you)???

Tanya gets the MAN that she wanted (even though he may also DIE SOON and send her right back into the same situation again that she was in after the death of her mother).

And SHANE got RACHEL back again (even though it also looks like she's heading for a MENTAL BREAKDOWN due to the way we also know she's never going to BE HAPPY trying to keep SHANE HAPPY like his mother told her to).

And how long can QUINN survive doing what he wants to do if his parents also don't send him the MONEY that he'd need for FOOD, CLOTHES, etc???

So even though there's the SURFACE appearance that things end on a somewhat OPTIMISTIC outlook, once you reflect upon the situations, you can also see the reasons why that might not be the case.

Because how much longer can BELINDA stand there SMILING while the NEXT NEW WAVE of TOURIST invades the island, when DEEP DOWN INSIDE she doesn't really feel PLEASED about them being there ready to DUMP still more of their problems into her lap again???

Belinda going back to work again also reminds me of RACHEL going back to SHANE again.

My bet is Neither one of them is going to last very long doing what it is that they've chosen to do (BELINDA making others HAPPY/ RACHEL making SHANE HAPPY).

Who dies on The White Lotus finale?

It's Armond (Murray Bartlett), the outwardly accommodating and inwardly seething resort manager who comes increasingly unhinged from the stress of having to cater to demanding guests who have lots of money and little aloha spirit.

Chief among those contributing to his drug-addled downward spiral is insufferable newlywed Shane (Jake Lacy), who spends five episodes infuriated at Armond for not booking the honeymooners the vaunted Pineapple Suite and stabs him to death in the sixth.

Armond's a victim of the social inequities of the world he and his co-workers inhabit. To Shane and his ilk, people like Armond and fellow staff members Kai and Belinda are disposable.

do people like Shane really ever have to deal with the consequences of their actions? Not on this show...

Does Shane pay for what he did?

Nope. At the end of the finale, he's boarding a plane back to his regular life, and the rude way he interacts with friendly fellow tourists suggests he's just as obnoxious as before he thrust a knife into another human's flesh. His briefly estranged wife Rachel (Alexandra Daddario) even comes back to him at the end, though the resignation in her eyes suggests she's doing it out of exhaustion and defeat. It appears Shane has come out of the whole honeymoon death adventure unscathed, though he will have to live with Rachel's misery (if he even notices it).

So there's that.

More observations

It was heartening to see bratty, slightly terrifying college kid Olivia Mossbacher (Sydney Sweeney) finally show a shred of empathy and humanity when she hugs Paula

But Quinn Mossbacher, where you gonna sleep? Hoping one of your canoe-mates has a spare couch.

Can we start a GoFundMe campaign and help the kind and generous Belinda open that wellness center she so deserves?

So apparently the way SHANE will PAY for the way that he BULLIED ARMOND is when his wife continues her DOWNWARD SPRIAL -- and they get into another SPAT again -- where she explains to him how HE'S THE BABY who had TANTRUMS because he had to have the PINEAPPLE ROOM and had his MOTHER there with them on their HONEYMOON.

BANGING on the DINNER TABLE with BOTH of his FISTS also reminds one of an INFANT sitting in a HIGH CHAIR who would do the same thing if you took their candy away from them.

So at least it's also nice to know he's married someone who won't be willing to ENDURE his TEMPER TANTRUMS for very much longer before she has another EMOTIONAL BREAK DOWN and wants to LEAVE him again.

And HOPEFULLY TANYA will also have another MELTDOWN again after her NEW MAN with the COUGHING SPELLS bites the DUST soon.

And after the way QUINN's mother mostly IGNORES him (because she's too busy MOVING the HOTEL FURNITURE around and chatting on ZOOM with her work buddies), she'll probably also hardly even notice that he's still not there or even CARE that much that's he's NOT there.

And since other's QUINN's AGE have also SUED their PARENTS and been declared an EMANCIPATED MINOR, he could probably also do the same thing as a way to be free of them and their CONTROL.

Because surely a JUDGE who heard about how he'd been SLEEPING on the beach (instead of his WEALTHY mother getting him a room of his own to sleep in) would also agree that she's NOT a FIT enough mother him???

And QUINN explaining to a judge how EMTPY his life with his parents had been would probably also help to get him EMACIPATED from them.

Plus his mother would probably also not want to deal with any PUBLICITY that would be involved with fighting against QUINN's WISHES to be FREE of her CONTROL.

Many are speculating that the end shot of him in the canoe is a dream sequence. He's 16, a minor, and his parents would probably have used their power and prestige to stop the plane and deboard, or demand the authorities return him to his parent's custody. Certainly before he was able to leave the plane and security was alerted. It might be true that he didn't board the plane unnoticed, but no way his parents just left him there.
If it's a dream sequence, that's a pretty powerful statement about the caving-in to materialism and to The Man, because it's simply easier, as Rachel did. And as the guy Tanya started hanging out with did.

it would be very hard for Quinn to make it back to the hotel as they need to take a boat from the airport to the resort and especially no way that he gets to live in Hawaii. Perhaps a dream sequence. maybe the dad agreed to stay behind to give a a few more days of enjoyment. it was a nice touch to give a cinematic ending.

Since the people that he's with had CANOED all around the ISLAND, and they were also planning to go to another DISTANT ISLAND, they could also CANOE over to the place where the AIRPORT is located to pick up QUINN.

And Having a judge declare he's an EMANCIPATED MINOR would also release him from having his PARENTS order him to return back home again.

Drew Barrymore and other actors like her have also had a judge declare them EMANCIPATED and released them from the bonds of being forced to do whatever their parents wanted them to do that they didn't want to do.

in all fairness i love the show but they should have put a black wealthy family too, to show that privilege is about wealth and the things you can do with your money and not so much race, the Hawaiian people would have done the exact same fire dance during diner if the guests were black or asian or indians or latinos, and those guests would have access to the same level of service and leisure the resort offers as any white guest for the simple reason that they paid for it, nothing more nothing less.

If you've been reading message boards lately, you'd also realize how doing that would have resulted in people posting complaints about the show being TOO WOKE, and that the only reason why a BLACK FAMILY was in it was to try to be PC.

So why bother doing that when it would lead to those kind of MESSAGES being posted, which would also distract from others being able to ENJOY the story when they tried to discuss it with others???

One of The NEW STAR TREK SHOWS also has a BLACK character in the LEAD ROLE now, for example, in STAR TREK: DISCOVERY.

And her CAPTAIN was also an ASIAN woman. And all one hears are NON STOP COMPLAINTS about it, because they want their WHITE MALE character to be the CAPTAIN, and for them to STOP placing someone into that kind of a ROLE simply because they are FEMALE or another RACE.

So having a BLACK FAMILY staying at the WHITE LOTUS with the rest of the GUEST wouldn't have solved anything. If anything, the message boards would most likely have been full of all kinds of CRAP like that which most of us wouldn't want to see or read.

What's also interesting is how those who PRODUCE the show have also given in to the DEMANDS of those who want to have a WHITE MALE in the role of the CAPTAIN and have made the decision to create still another NEW STAR TREK show called WHERE NO ONE HAS GONE BEFORE.

So all of the complaints that were expressed about DISCOVERY being "too PC and too WOKE" for them may have also resulted in those who griped getting their way.

And what's also interesting is how when the other NEW TREK SHOW called PICARD was made, even though he was one of their former MALE CAPTAINS that they liked before, they also complained about how he'd been turned into a USELESS OLD MAN (because the actor was also almost 80 when he made the new show).

So in addition to their dislike of FEMALES and other people of COLOR, they also expressed ANTI AGISM views as well.

So heaven forbid what the message boards would be full of now if someone had chosen to place a BLACK FAMILY into the WHITE LOTUS story !!!

I'm not sure if having a black family would have the same impact. I am not sure that Belinda's story would work if there were more black people in the cast. Maybe the next season they could do that, but this time I think that having a mostly white cast was what was needed in this first season.

I agree that the COLONIALISM THEME we get presented with in the show wouldn't work as well if all of the GUEST hadn't been all WHITE.

Because a BLACK family would also have distracted away from the idea that "WAVES of WHITES" with COLONIAL ATTITUDES were still washing ashore and INVADING the ISLAND the same way as they'd done DECADES ago.

And with the presence of a BLACK Family, one could also imagine MARK pointing out to PAULA how even a group who'd been previously COLONIZED was willing to ABUSE those who's land had been taken away from them there in HAWAII (which would probably also have ruffled a few feathers and created still more FLAME WARS at message boards where the show is being discussed).

The easy answer is Shane. He was the one who spent his whole life punching down, bullying, and he brought about the death of Armand, who, sleazy as he might have been his life was about helping people have a good time.

Paula should have fessed up to her part in this and why she did it when she had a chance while talking to Olivia. But then she had everything in her life on the line and was too cowardly to do it. I really found it impossible to believe should would have even suggested that stupid burglary plan considering that the retail cost of jewelry is virtually nothing compared to the money you would get trying to fence it in Hawaii.

Tanya at least gave Belinda a big fat envelope of money in appreciation.

when you come to think about it , Shane had paid for something which he didn't get so can he be blamed for wanting it and complaining? every person is sensitive to certain things more than others, if it was me i would also not give up, not because i want to bully Armond but because it just pisses me off to have paid for something and not get it , just like most people i guess??? the suite was of course nice but what if he preferred the pineapple suite which he had actually booked? you would definitely feel like the hotel is taking you for an idiot.

about his wife, well if since the beginning they met she was a bit submissive and discreet and never complaining about his personality not giving her enough attention and support, then how can he be blamed if she never told him anything, some girls like strong personality / charismatic guys, it's like your colleague doing something wrong every day and you never tell him, then after one year you suddenly come out angry as hell about him doing it wrong, well if you never told him how could he have known??

Shane had paid for something which he didn't get

SHANE didn't PAY for anything. His MOTHER did. She also talks about how SHE chose the HOTEL because she'd read or heard that it was the MOST ROMANTIC place.

So when he didn't PAY for the ROOM, that also shows why he was being such a BABY about it by having his TEMPER TANTRUM about it.

As for his wife, she also explains how for the last 5 MONTHS SHANE's MOTHER had her so busy with the WEDDING PLANS that she got SWOOPED UP in the whole process and didn't think things through properly.

And you can also tell that's what happened by the way SHANE goes swimming without Rachel (even when she says she wants to go with him), and by the way he's reading a book, or doing other things where he basically IGNORES her when he's not wanting SEX (which is also why she said she feels like SHE'S ALONE when she's with him).

PLUS he also breaks off the conversations with her each time she tries to discuss something important with him (so that he can go chasing after ARMOND to torment him some more).

But the reason why she didn't feel alone before the WEDDING is because his MOTHER was always around making plans (the same way as she did on their HONEYMOON).

So under those circumstances one can also see how RACHEL got caught up in the WHIRLWIND of activity and didn't pay close enough attention to the type of guy she was getting involved with. Think of PRINCESS DIANA and how she also thought her marriage was going to work out when it did not. And Rachel also admits to having played with dolls and imagined being a princess when she was growing up.

But unfortunately the PRINCE CHARMING in the REAL LIFE FAIRY TALE also turned out to be an UGLY TOAD.

are you implying that because the mother chose and paid for the hotel it is ok for Shane NOT to get the room his mom paid for? If my mom offered me an expensive gift and I didn't receive what she paid for I would raise hell even more than if it was my own money.

as for Shane being a self centered jerk, well his wife was simply naive or blind or something like that if she didn't notice or understand his personality prior to their honeymoon.

No one isn't suggesting that it's OK for Shane not to get the room that he wanted. But it was also already explained to him that someone else (the GERMANS) were already staying in it. So the reasonable thing to have done would be to WAIT until it was VACANT so that he could have it instead of his having his NON STOP HISSY FITS (that the HOTEL MGR also couldn't do anything about until the other GUESTS were gone).

But SHANE wasn't willing to be PATIENT or wait, and he ACTED OUT like the SPOILED BRAT that he was. And then he also had another TEMPER TANTRUM again when RACHEL points out how he was the one who was behaving like a BABY.

And you're also right about RACHEL as well, and how she should have also NOTICED the kind of a husband and lifestyle that she was marrying into, but unfortunately "so called" LOVE can also be BLINDED to that kind of a thing (which is also a part of the reason why HALF of the MARRIAGES here in the US end in DIVORCE).

And even AFTER she realized what she'd gotten herself into, she also TAKES him back again (which is probably even WORSE than choosing to be with him in the first place).

Because one could also see how she was already heading for a BREAKDOWN from having been with him for less than one week.

So imagine what being with him for the rest of her life would be like. And we also know SHANE hasn't CHANGED or learned any lessons from what happened when he KILLS ARMOND, due to the RUDE WAY he treated those other GUESTS who were asking him questions about his HONEYMOON.

In other words, SHANE's going to keep on behaving the SAME WAY as he treated ARMOND, which is also going to make RACHEL as MISERABLE as she's already been. And it's most likely also going to lead to her having another EMOTIONAL MELTDOWN again.

Actually, Shane didn't pay for anything, his mother did.

Armand screwed up, as will happen in any service job, and he actually did try to work with Shane. Do you think he would not have refunded the difference in the cost? I don't. He also comped the room. Yeah, he was human, but as are we all. Shane just went on a vengeful tear seeking to ruin the man's life ... because he does not see the humanity in other people.

You can what-if forever ... I don't worry about that.

The wife was going through her changes most people go through when they get married and they realize it is the end of their single life. While she was doing that she happened to get clear glimpse of who her husband was - a complete ignorant a-hole. She called it ... a man-baby I think she said ... or baby-man.

The wife realized that she was not a whole lot better and decided to settle for being in her marriage after all. Not every woman need to conquer the universe, and they should not be disparaged if they don't. This world gives certain choices to certain people and they make the best use of them they can under the circumstances and within their intellectual and perceptual ability to manage life.

It sounds like you related to Shane and are making excuses for him. You said you would seek compensation for the screw-up ... but that is not what people and his wife disliked about him ... it was the bullying, the punching down, the immaturity and recklessness from someone in the upper-classes who is, or should be, expected to be a mature patron of civilization. I think we forget that these days in everyone's hurry to be a egomaniacal bigshot.

The COST of the PINEAPPLE ROOM (once it was given to SHANE after the GERMANS left) was FREE of charge. In other words, the COST of it was also REFUNED by not charging anything at all for them staying in it.

But SHANE also still reports Armond and has him FIRED.

Sorry if it sounds like one made excuses for SHANE. Can't stand him, and definitely wish he was the one who ended up inside of that box instead of ARMOND.

I'd have to agree with that, and if you look at the word over human history you see the misery of the majority inflicted on people who are given great power and influence by their societies that they did not earn from work or inspiring other people. And as the world shrinks and gets smaller, these people, this elite plutocratic group gets larger and relatively much more powerful, and inflicts unhappiness and misery and steals the resources of the commons from the world to prop up a tyrannical elite of hierarchical wealth and punishment. in the US this really took off when they got rid of the estate/inheritance tax which used to function as a pro-democracy leveling influence. The problem with White Lotus is that they have the perfect vehicle for making these political statements, but they stifle it and muffle it.

Paula did CONFESS to having had a part in the ROBBERY.

After Olivia asked her if she did it because she needed MONEY, Paula explains how that had nothing to do with it and she did it because she wanted KAI to be able to get his land back that had been STOLEN away from him.

That envelope full of MONEY also doesn't EXCUSE the HORRIBLE WAY that TANYA treated BELINDA by letting her believe that she was truly interested in helping to FUND a business for her.

What it does is look like a CHEAP BRIBE or a way to PAY her OFF for having FUCKED her over because the REAL MOTIVE of telling her the LIE about helping her was to get BELINDA to BUMP other customers out of TANYA's way so that she could have their APPOINTMENTS herself.

TANYA was a SELFISH SELF CENTERED BITCH (the same way as SHANE was a SELFISH SELF CENTERED BASTARD).

SHANE KILLS ARMOND PHYSICALLY, whereas TANYA murders BELINDA MENTALLY.

Because HELPING other people will also NEVER be the same for her anymore after the way she's been EMOTIONALLY ABUSED by TANYA. And that's also made evident to us by the way BELINDA walks away from RACHEL after having also given her the card telling her to call her if she needed her.

So thanks to TANYA, BELINDA also treats RACHEL the same way as she'd been TREATED by TANYA. And one also suspects the other NEW WAVE of GUESTS we see arrive at the end of the story will also not be treated as well as BELINDA treated TANYA.

Because TANYA is like a HORRIFIC PLAGUE who goes around SPREADING and INFECTING others with her DISEASE wherever she goes.

And SHANE is also the same way as well.

And if MARK hadn't RUN his BIG MOUTH by BRAGGING about how PROUD he was to have TAKEN away the land of others and BENEFITED from it, then PAULA may have never talked KAI into taking the JEWELRY.

So Mark is also the same way as Tanya and Shane.

All 3 of them are like VAMPIRES who go around SUCKING the SOULS out of others that they encounter. That was also made evident to us by those 2 young girls he tries to pick up in the bar, and by the way he RUINS Rachel's honeymoon by telling her the SPARK had gone out of his relationship, and that having sex with his wife was like eating a bowl full of LIVE WORMS.

And you could also see by the GRIN on his face how much he ENJOYED tormenting RACHEL by telling her that (thus also making MARK a SELFISH SELF CENTERED BASTARD as well).

There were a lot of bad people in this, but Paula was the worst. She talked someone into committing a crime against a family who brought her along on their vacation.

Kai didn't want to do it because he knew it was wrong, but he let her talk him into it.

Then, when Olivia confronted her but told her she wouldn't rat her out, Paula said "you've stolen, too". I couldn't stand Olivia, but what the fuck did she steal? Shut the fuck up, Paula. She didn't have the common sense or courtesy to admit guilt or apologize. If she'd do this to friends, what would she do to enemies?

By the end of the show, even though her advice made Kai's near future worse than it would have been otherwise, she seemed to be over it already.

And how stupid would she have to be to sit there on the boat like an idiot when the mother headed back to the room? If she wasn't going to text him, she could have at least gotten off her ass and tried to stop him before he did it.

yeah not texting him to warn him was weird ; or she could have simply got up and go talk to the mother saying she is wrong, comfort her saying her family loves her and give her a big hug, the dad and the kids would have done the same and she most probably would have got back in the boat , she just wanted a bit of love and respect , since she was crying her family would have given her some.
