Peter Parker's Uncle Ben and his Mother Mary Parker are in this?

Is this supposed to be a prequel to one of the movies then? It's pretty weird.

reply

Ugh, this means they're trying to pull a retcon and say these spider chicks were around before Spider-man. Lame!

reply

They were gonna put Andrew Garfield in but then change their mind and have Tom Holland so it could be in the MCU and then when they realized a young Ben and May show up, they took Spidey out all together. This means they really have no idea how this fits into the movies and don’t care.

reply

Yeah, supposedly Adam Scott will play Uncle Ben.

reply

I don't like his pointy bird face.

reply

🤣

reply

he had some sweet sweaty abs and a killer voice in Step Brothers though!

reply

The whole trailer looks to me like 80s/90s.

reply

You know his name was changed to Ben's Original now in the movies, don't you?

reply

Hahaha, that is good.

reply

And his catchphrase now is: "With white skin, comes white privilege!"

reply

And he gets murdered by a Trump supporter who's off to buy white sheets and AR15s.

Peter doesn't stop him because he gets distracted by his gold runners.

Plus Uncle Ben was actually Aunt Benita before the surgery.

reply

I just noticed myself that Emma Roberts is playing Peter's mother. I didn't realize this was supposed to be set in the past.

From wiki

In January 2024, journalist Jeff Sneider reported that Sony had performed reshoots for Madame Web to remove references to the originally planned 1990s setting of the film, which was intended to have Andrew Garfield's version of Peter Parker / Spider-Man from The Amazing Spider-Man films exist within the film's continuity but not appear, before the studio decided to instead have this be Tom Holland's version of the character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Spider-Man films. This resulted in the timeline needing to be adjusted to align with that character's age, with the film ultimately set in 2003. There was also potential for the different Spider-Women characters to appear in costume for one scene, and Sneider believed younger versions of the characters Mary and Ben Parker were involved. Clarkson confirmed in early February that both characters would appear, with them portrayed by Roberts and Scott

reply

Madame Web takes place in its own universe apparently.

So Sony have three Spider-Man universes going off now separate to the Marvel Cinematic Universe Tom Holland version of the character.

We have Spider-Verse Spider-Man, Venom-Verse (which is yet to show Spider-Man) and now Madame Web-Verse which takes place in 2003.

Madame Web looks set to flop though so this new universe they’ve created is dead on arrival.

reply

Wont Venom-verse (and presumably Morbius and Kraven) Spidey just be Garfield?

Id assume Madame Webb set in MCU as /baby Peter born in 2003 so year corresponds with MCU

reply

It’s possible the Venom-Verse is Andrew Garfield’s universe but I really hope he tells Sony ‘no’ if they ask him to reprise the role.

No Way Home was a fantastic ending for his character after the two mediocre Spider-Man films he was in and it’s clear that Sony haven’t a clue what they’re doing with their live action films.

With mostly negative reviews for Madame Web I highly doubt Kevin Feige wants Madame Web to be in the MCU, the MCU is already struggling enough as it is to win back the fans after some of the mediocre/bad films they’ve been putting out lately.
