Eli Roth is embarrassing as the Bear Jew

They build him up as this menacing character, and then Eli The Hack Roth comes out of the cave sounding like a prepubescent boy that just got his first boner. Every line of his is delivered in the most cringeworthy wannabe manner. I almost wanted Hitler to win just so his character would be painfully tortured and killed in the most horrific way.

reply

haha

"Speaking of FRAAAUFONHAMMERZMURK.." the way he fu@king delivers that line has me wanting to scalp HIS ass.
loll weakest Basterd of the group.

reply

Couldn't agree more, I've been saying for years that is painful to watch and certainly one of the main reasons that is one of the few Tarantino films I didn't like much. He's not much of a director but he's Hitchcock compared to his acting.

reply

That's a good way to describe how he sounds. That or an excitable Tarantino fanboy who can't believe he got a part on the film of his favourite director, which is probably not far from the truth. Tarantino should have known better.

It's strange, they got most of the casting right with this one, and for Hans Landa they couldn't have chosen better, but then you've got Roth sticking out like a sore thumb. Mike Myers being in this was kind of weird too. He acted a bit like someone out of a Carry On film.

almost every QT movie has a glaring miscast or just an actor who is terrible & awkward in his role,
Once... has that Bruce Lee performance by some unknown guy
H8 has Channing Tatum
PF has QT himself

reply

The Bruce lee dude was perfect though.

reply

I thought the same.

reply

i should rewatch it, but i remember him being very obnoxious

reply

The character was meant to be obnoxious, maybe that's why?

reply

then he should have been played by someone like Johnny Legs

reply

Tarantino originally wrote the role with Adam Sandler in mind, which I honestly think would have been perfect, imagine the audience reaction if Sandler had walked out of the tunnel with the baseball bat.

reply

Are you kidding? That would have been terrible, seeing Adam Sandler coming out of the tunnel would have ruined the whole movie. I'd pick Roth any day over Sandler for the bear jew.

reply

Sandier can actually act though 🤷🏻‍♂️ Watch Uncut Gems and Punch Drunk Love, the guy has definitely got talent when he chooses to use it.

reply

But Sandler isn't physically imposing. He's 5ft 10 with no muscles. Even if he somehow managed to put on muscles for the first time in his life, he doesn't look intimidating.

reply

& you think Roth looks intimidating?

reply

Dude, I started this thread. I hate Roth. They both look like weasels.

reply

tru dat

reply

Roth would wipe the floor with you.

every tarantino movie lately in a nutshell is like that

reply

CRINGEWORTHY?...THE MORE IMPORTANT QUESTION IS WHATS WRONG WITH YOUR PARENTS...LETTING A 14 YEAR OLD GIRL WATCH THIS MOVIE IS WRONG.

I'm in the minority liking his performance as the Bear Jew.

reply

True.

But if you are beating a captive who can't move anyone can be a "Bear Jew".
