Is there any truth to the conspiracies brought up in JFK (1991)?

Is anything in JFK truthful or is it all conspiracy theory tin foil hat nonsense? Was LBJ involved? Were there multiple shooters? Was the Warren commission dishonest in their investigation?

Are there are any articles, books, videos, that go through all the points the JFK movie makes and break down the historical accuracy of it all?

reply

No. Check out this - www.google.com

or this one - youtube.com

I have a good article here too - https://news.yahoo.com/

Enjoy!

No. All that crap is total baloney.

It's all true.

The movie was largely based on two books: On the Trail of the Assassins by Jim Garrison and Crossfire: The Plot That killed Kennedy by Jim Marrs.

So yes, there are books. Whether or not those books are accurate is the real question.

I started reading On the Trail of the Assassins about a year ago, but it was rather dense and I ultimately lost interest.

I have no idea what to believe, but I do know that the U.S. House Select Committee on Assassinations investigated the Kennedy assassination and, shockingly, concluded that he was likely assassinated as a result of a conspiracy.

I love this movie, and when I was young I totally believed that there was probably a lot of truth to Prosecutor Jim Garrison's conspiracy theory. THEN the internet happened and I was able to research, lol. Pretty much every single point of contention in the movie has been debunked by countless experts dozens and dozens of times. And Garrison himself was kind of a nutcase. His theory changed over and over again, but ultimately he believed that JFK's assassination was a conspiracy between a cult-like homosexual element in the CIA, and a cult-like homosexual element in the Mafia, working together. No, seriously.

A book I found that factually debunked many of the conspiracy theories was: Case Closed by Gerald Posner.

The problem I find with "debunking" materials is that often times the debunkers themselves get debunked and you just end up with a stalemate between the two camps.

I've seen a few definitive documentaries I've seen that put all the conspiracy theories to rest:
1. Showtime set up a mock trial of Oswald. They had Vincent Bugliosi as the prosecutor and Gerry Spence as the defense lawyer. They actually had a witness come on the stand who had been directly below Oswald in the Texas Book Depository. This witness explained how he heard the rifle casings hit the floor above him after every shot.

2. There's a PBS documentary where Oswald's brother even says he strongly believes his brother was the lone assassin. The doc further shows how Oswald was actually a pretty good shot, they had his actual shooting records from his stint in the marines. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cjwKxuie2o

Barely. But when the movie ends you are left wondering, maybe, just maybe. Until reality kicks in again.

It's great movie making in my opinion.

And as a non-US person, who was aware but not really knowledgable about the subject, it did educate on the shooting of Kennedy somewhat and prompted me to look further into it. It definitely piques interest after watching it.

Forgetting for the moment about Stone, if you do enough reading you know the Warren Commision is bogus and there are numerous instances which cast doubt on their conclusions.

Oswald had contacts with the CIA and FBI and was fully known to both agencies prior to Dallas.

Most Americans don't know the President was in danger of being assassinated in Chicago a few weeks earlier. Why on earth did Dallas protection, receive the order to stand down on the Nov.22 date so soon after? This more than anything --and there's lots more-- make single gunman theory absurd.

reply

No kidding Oswald was known to the US government, he left the US to live in Russia for several years then came back. It would be strange if he was not well known.

Tell us more about this stand down order? Have a copy? How does it make a single shooter absurd?

Can you reveal which parts of the Report of the President's Commission on the assassination of President Kennedy are bogus? Chapter and page number would be a good starting point.

I've asked other people to tell me parts they think are bogus and it turns out they had not read the report, just the opinions of others who claim to have read it.
