I've noticed that there were some really great action movies made in the mid-late 80s like Aliens, Die Hard, Predator, Robocop, and Lethal Weapon. I'd say
1. Die Hard
2. Aliens
3. Predator
4. Lethal Weapon
5. Robocop

The other 2 are enjoyable but not in the same league.

Terminator and Midnight Run also for consideration.

Glad to see another Midnight Run fan. It's one of the first films I think of as a shining example of on-screen non-romantic chemistry between two leads.

What about Killer Clowns from Outer Space, No Holds Barred and Action Jackson? These are better than any of the ones you mentioned

1. Robocop (more or less perfect movie, it may be seen as an escapist fun action, but also has substance and satire which is very rare in this genre)
2. Die Hard
3. Predator
4. Aliens
5. Lethal Weapon (never was a fan of the series)
