It’s a black dad with a possessed daughter who seeks the help of older white lady from first movie to tenuously connect the rehash to the original. So basically a soft reboot disguised as a sequel a la Candyman, Force Awakens, etc

I've seen other people praise the third one but I watched it and it just felt like a cheap horror movie to me, with not even a quarter of the gravitas of the first film.

The first film is not even just a good movie but also a sober theological work. Everything else with the Exorcist name has been simple "entertainment."
