What's so special about her?

I don't get the appeal.

reply

She is a singer, so it is about her songs, like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-ORhEE9VVg

MV is mediocre, but couple with her history of relationships, it gives me a chuckle or two when I listen to it.

The only part of lyrics I don't understand is this:"Boys only want love when it is torture. Don't say I didn't say I didn't warn ya".

I think if 'boys' change to 'girls' probably make more sense, otherwise who is she warning?

Everything

reply

These days the popular music scene is a sea of mediocrity and in that sea, she's the best thing out there- which isn't saying much.

reply

She can sorta sing, is pretty, and has really good PR. Remember, she's hitting her peak right now. Sooner or later, she'll get old, and she will then either have to keep it up for her die-hard fans and invest in fashion/modeling like Beyonce, or go the way of Britney Spears and succumb to drugs and self-inflicted abuse.

reply

SERIOUS QUESTION....WHY DO YOU HATE SO MANY PEOPLE?

reply

I don't sense any hatred there. Just honest commentary. Swift has plenty of money now. One day she'll be fifty and she'll either build a theater in Branson or recede into reclusiveness.

reply

Where do you detect hate? Everything she wrote was pretty much spot on about the lifespan of your average celebrity. Sure, there are some who become icons, but others have to go into something else when their careers dry up. At one point Cher was selling jewelry on the Home Shopping Network. It's nothing to be ashamed of. Very few can stay on top forever.

reply

Swift invested in her own songs, I heard she bought the rights to all of them, that should be a decent investment.

reply

That's smart. She obviously has a good agent/advisor. Still, money goes quickly. Someone (probably the same person who told her to invest in her own songs) will advise her on what to do if and when her music career beings to wane. Then again it may not. She might be this generations, Madonna.

I didn't think Madonna was all that talented, but at one point she had some really great song writers writing for her. She fell off because she thought that she could write, and she couldn't.

reply

you can't compare madonna to taylor swift, even though i think madonna has become a whack job, she kinda defined a whole decade. she appealed to people of all ages. taylor swift appeals to 15 year old girls who like most people that age, need somebody to look up to or swoon over. taylor swift is in the lady gaga, britney spears, backstreet boys, nsync and christina aguilera type of bracket.

todays generation go looking for madonnas songs, i can't image someone 30 years from now going nuts for taylor swift, her music only appeals to kids.

reply

I know too many adults who love Taylor Swift. It is creepy. So, it's not just 15 year old girls.

reply

yeah, maybe. but do they really like her music or is the feeling of belonging to something? becuase it really is like a movement at this point. it's more than music.

reply

All of them are women in their early 20s (I work with them). It seems to me that they are really into her. They buy her albums go to her concerts and it isn't just a few of them. It's almost all of them.

reply

Todd Swift has a good brain

reply

She's nothing new, you can go back to the 1940s and find singers who appealed to the masses, especially kids...

she's attractive and sings songs for moony 16 year old girls who just got their heart broken. every generation has had a singer like this.

but i do believe that she's been elevated and pushed to a level thats not organic. maybe based on some beliefs that she's willing to push.

reply

"Elevated" by whom? Based on what evidence? She is hardly notably political in a way that most artists aren't.

Nailed it

I think her music speaks to a generation of girls. In one loud unified voice they're screaming "I am woman, hear me roar"!! lol. It's the opposite of male masculinity, it's like in your face female femininity. When I see her, I just think "WOMAN" there she is...

This may or may not make her special but to her fans it sure does.

reply

It's funny how the uber-feminine girl power princess cheers on a masculine alpha bro frat boy douche. In one loud, unified voice, the swiftness are screaming, "I am woman, hear me roar," while behind the scenes, Trav Nasty is probably putting her in her place by having her serve beer and burgers to him and his buddies on poker night while slapping her on the ass to boot.

If I knew that for sure I'd vote for him for President.

reply

I don't really like Kelce either, but that's no reflection on Taylor, right? lol

Besides that, I'm sure the break up song is coming soon. Swift has made a living off of'em. Why stop now?

Taylor Swift has really nice legs! 🦵🏻
