Making martinis tonight. Bout to head down the bottleo to buy some vermouth and gin. What is the best brands for a nice martini? And the best ratio and mixing methods? And best garnishes?

reply

Sounds like someone has a very sophisticated date.... woo-hooo

I know nothing about Martinis other than 007 likes them. Sorry. Got a beer question? I'm your man there.

reply

Haha nah I'm all good on the beer front, know that backwards and forwards.

reply

Can I have 4 beers?

reply

You'll get nothing and like it!

reply

Oh you can go right over there

reply

Well I've neveršŸ˜¤!!!

reply

Remember - British people put one olive in them, but Americans use two olives. I have no idea how many olives they use Down Under.

reply

They use one, but upside down.

The ratio is 3 parts gin/1 part vermouth. Sorry I donā€™t like gin and drink vodka martinis, so I canā€™t help u there.

reply

I've got stoli and Bombay and noli Pratt. So I'm good to go.

reply

So let us know how they turned out.

reply

I've heard a couple people order a "dirty" martini. I looked it up and it is adding a little olive juice in addition to the olives. I also heard someone order a "perfect" martini. That's using both sweet and dry vermouth, in equal parts.

On MASH I heard Alan Alda request a "painfully dry" martini. This means as little vermouth as humanly possible.

reply

Add some bitters!

Does Martini not exist where you are in the world?
I'm not one for cocktails, but i used to work in a bar where we sold Martini. It must be a brand name then I think šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø.
It was nice with ice and lemonade/sprite/mountain dew.

I'm intrigued about trying a freshly mixed combo šŸ¤”

How did they turn out?

reply

Eh, probably too late now, but I like Bombay Saphire for mixed drinks.
