Anyone else already sick of hearing about Ruth Bader Ginsburg?

Like who gives a shit??

Yep.

reply

I've never heard of it.

reply

It's the same with every public figure who dies. They shove them down your throat, till you can't stand them anymore.

It's a shame. really. But, that's the media. 🙄 They figure they have to stay on top of things and be the first to tell you what's new.

reply

Or until the next one dies. Very confusing for the media when two or more die around the same time, they have to decide which ones get overshadowed.

reply

You know, I read years ago that the news agencies have their tapes and reports all made up in advance -- so when you drop, they're ready! 🙄

reply

It’s not the media, it’s people on social media (mostly women) who won’t shut the fuck up about her.

reply

Well, as a woman, who does partake in social media, I know that you don't have to read or look at anything that you don't want to. BUT....

Also as a woman, I appreciate everything RBG did to advance woman's rights, and human rights. I think her life should be celebrated, and her passing mourned.

reply

I hate when people say that, yes actually do have to look at pretty much everything you scroll past to get to something else. If it’s a long post you don’t have to read the entire thing but you still see the general content, and it’s been nonstop about her.

I can appreciate that but like I said plenty of others have done just as much or more with a fraction of the attention she gets.

reply

If you don't know what she did as you question below, why do you think that she doesn't deserve the attention she gets?

As to social media, you seem to have a rather poor relationship with it as per comments on this post and other posts. You can choose what you see. You can block people, don't have to read anything about her if you don't want, because you can just keep scrolling.

It may not be fair that some people are more famous than others, and everyday peons will never get any sort of attention. Some deaths do affect public more than others, and it's not just the media attention. I can tell you that when Betty White passes I will flood social media with stuff about her. I don't know her, and other than animal advocacy, what has she really done that will deserve it?

reply

YOU REALLY HATE FEMALES...YOURE SAD.

reply

She did more with her life than most ever will, while something like this will most likely be your greatest achievement:

reply

What did she do please tell me, besides being a woman in a position previously not held by women

reply

She was not the first woman Supreme Court justice, she was the second.

reply

Exactly so she’s not even really that much of a pioneer. I’m sure she accomplished some good things and stood for noble causes but there are plenty of people who have who get a fraction of the attention she’s getting.

reply

I think the attention is warranted. Her life is quite an impressive story and, like all women attorneys of her era, she was a pioneer. She was one of only 9 women out of 500 Harvard Law School students at the time she attended. Now the HLS student body is split pretty evenly between men and women.

reply

By that logic, Buzz Aldrin is a failure and Scorsese is an insignificant nobody because he isn't the first man to have directed a movie.

reply

Do you hear everyone immortalizing either of them??

reply

Second person to ever step on our moon notwithstanding, why would we be hearing anyone memorializing them when they aren't dead yet?

reply

They are both way more legendary than RBG

reply

What are you going to do with your life besides complain about not being able to know the love of a woman whilst simultaneously revealing deep seated homosexual tendencies** on an internet movie forum?

**This needs a double asterisk because some people are either stupid or ill-informed. There's nothing unacceptable about any sexual orientation that exists between two consenting adults. I am merely referring to specific instances where this particular user, MovieBuff224, has inadvertently hinted that he is gay as day, and that's okay. He just doesn't understand that a fundamental element about himself is that he likes guys over ladies. This is a constant in-joke on MovieChat to anyone who has noticed such patterns in his posts. A lot of the inside humor about this clown stems from him projecting misogynist thoughts and idolizing the male physique. I wish him well on discovering whatever he truly wants out there, but based on his entire post history it's obviously not a woman.

reply

Oh good so you’re homophobic

reply

I didn't mean for you to misinterpret anything, so I tried adding a corollary to my previous post for people with double digit IQs.

reply

No, you're just projecting and I updated the post for clarification, so you can respond in kind if you possess the mental capacity to do so.

reply

AMAZING...GREAT POST🙂

reply

Thank you, thank you. :-)

reply

Well, helloooo sailor.

reply

I didn't agree with her politics, but I admire her early work that ensured equal rights for all people. Remember, one of her most notable cases was to fight for a man's right to not be discriminated against because of his sex.

reply

I'm sick of all politics. Period.

reply

It's news when a SP court justice dies. There's only nine of them.

reply

If it was a dude we wouldn’t be hearing a fraction of this

reply

I remember Scalia's death being news, but only because the media were excited that a Democrat would be appointed.
