What movie have you watched 50 plus times?

for me it would be Speed, Die hard, Happy Gilmore and maybe a few more that are at this time eluding me.

reply

Probably Scream.

reply

thats one i have seen at least 20 times

reply

I really have no clue how often I've seen it, but it has to be the one I've watched the most. I've seen it at least once a year since the VHS release. In the beginning I would sometimes even watch it again the next day. And then watch it again when it was on tv.

reply

can you explain your fascination with it?

reply

Hmm, I don't know. Part is nostalgia, but I just think it's a smart movie with funny dialogue and good suspense.

reply

I agree. I think i straddles many genres with ease. So self aware, but also pretty risky, i mean it could have easily been terrible.

reply

Exactly. And it was low budget enough not to make it too slick. Also kudos to Craven for creating satirical characters who are still relatable.

reply

yeah the direction is top notch, a lot of the dialogue could have been delivered poorly.

reply

i get perplexed looks from my family every time i watch it. 'youve seen this a hundred times' they tell me.

reply

Wah? My family loves it too, so I get no comments from them!

Speed is also one of my favourites, by the way.👍

reply

sometimes i cant get the theme music out of my head. for speed

reply

It's very catchy, they don't make them like that anymore.

reply

oath.

reply

What?? You mean it's not St Elmo's Fire??

reply

I make OTHER people watch St. Elmo's Fire. I'm not going to torture myself!😆

reply

Ha!
I knew all along that you disliked that crap movie too😃

reply

I told you the very first time we spoke to each other, Shogie!

reply

The Matrix

reply

havent seen any of those

reply

you havent seen speed , die hard or happy gilmore?

reply

nope nor scream either

reply

so what movie have you seen the most

reply

hmmm i would say:

a new hope 30
empire strikes back 20
return of the jedi 10

( approx )

reply

damn ive seen each only once, im a indiana jones man myself.

reply

make time to watch all three of the aforementioned movies please.

reply

okay!

reply

let me know!

reply

I like your movie picks, Speed and Die Hard were fabulous entertainment👍

I'll go with Conan The Barbarian (82)

It's my personal favorite, probably NOT anyone else here feels this way and I apologize for frequently citing this film but I'm doing it anyway once again so too bad haters!

Things I learned from Conan 82:

Good Dads are very important
You can trust a weapon, very little else
Raiding and slaughtering is very wrong
You need to work hard to survive
Choose a great guy to be your best pal
Pick the best Lady ever to be your girl
Continue working...it's all about working
Amass wealth when you can
Leave no opponent happy
Settle ALL scores
Warm yourself by the fire you lit

This movie is inspirational

reply

i need to re watch this movie haven't seen it since i was 6 or 7.

reply

I couldn't say how many times I've watched it but each time it teaches me something

Sure, we can never be as tough as Conan but in terms of friendship, romantic involvement, getting back at really annoying people...it's a magnificent primer

Best GD movie ever👍

reply

GD?

reply

Gosh Darn

reply

hahhaha you god damn americans and your niceties.

reply

Yes!
That's exactly what I meant, I didn't want to be offensive LOL😬

reply

*GodDamn

I try to contain my foul language on MC because a couple of my favorite Lady posters here do not enjoy 'bad language'

I usually talk like a sailor but I try to clean it up here for the Ladies...

reply

are we nothing if we are not gentlemen.

reply

Can we be gentlemen but still sort of assholes sometimes...your response will decide the future of this entire site

reply

I choose not to choose.

reply

You chose wisely

reply

As long i don't cross the seal.

reply

It's super cool that you got that😃

reply

twas to easy

reply

I'll trip you up next time😎

reply

You can try. But don't try to hard, i mean i'm not sliced bread over here.

reply

I like Conan the Librarian - he cleaves people in two if they bring books back late.

reply

Conan rocks at everything!
'This book was due back on Tuesday'
*immediate decapitation

reply

Mmmmswwwwaarrrrgh!
You got it.

reply

Don't forget:
Choose a great wizard to be your 2nd best pal

It comes in a little handy after you get crucified. 🤘

reply

I'm frequently crucified
This is proper advice👍

I'm off to Craigslist to look for a Wizard bro in my area

reply

Constantine, for some reason I can't get tired of that damn movie.
Jack Reacher, the first one. The second one is quite shitty.
LotR, no matter how many times you rewatch that trilogy, you can enjoy it again.

reply

ive seen the first jack reacher a bunch of times probably under 15 though. my dad is the same with you regarding constantine, me i i only watched it once , i thought it was average.

reply

Yeap, Constantine is a movie that is not everybody's cup of tea. But it has something.

reply

might get lynched here but ive never seen any of LotR's movies

reply

i have seen those, lol

reply

ofcourse you have forky!

reply

Well, then read the books first.

I love the movies, but getting into the books without previous knowledge is magical. If you haven't seen the movies, don't watch them until you've read them.

reply

i read the hobbit as a kid like when i was 8 or 9 and loved it. but ive always loved a short read. thats why i love 'Fight Club' and any Elmore Leonard novel.

reply

and yes the second one is quite shitty, horrible in fact.

reply

i understand the mentality. But great movies are like great songs, great sex, repeat visits are necessary. I've never understood the mentality of 'Iv'e seen that movie why would i watch it again'.

reply

[deleted]

I have overdone a few movies for sure. But I was young and didn't know that having a movie memorized will take some pleasure away in the future.

reply

That's like my sister; she only watches movies just once.

reply

I know for sure that I have seen The Princess Bride, The Gooines, Stand by Me, The Lost Boys, Die Hard, Heathers, Anne of Green Gables (1985) The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast (all animated versions) over 50 times.

Ones that would be close to 50 would be
A Nightmare on Elm Streets 1 & 3
LOTR trilogy
Annie (1982)
Moulin Rogue
Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog
Pulp Fiction
Lethal Weapon
Predator

I used to rewatch a lot of movies. There are probably a lot I'm forgetting.

reply

big fan of heathers sitting right here.

reply

A weekend at Bernie's
The Beach

reply

Leo's The Beach? Now that was a strange movie.

reply

It's funny, how so many films for the last 30 years or better have been so much the same. Either mysteries of who's the bad guy killer, or Van Damm's you hurt or killed my friend now I'm out for revenge etc. Or mindless gore fests like "Wrong Turn", or the Joyrides, and jilted bitter lovers movies. Then when someone comes up with a truly unique original story that is explained throughout like "the beach" was, it boggles many people's convoluted minds. Or some people just lack the mental capacity to see beyond a few aspects of a story and jump to negative conclusions. One idiot who said he hated the beach, claimed it was a movie about drugs and killing. Please, so many people in the movie were into drugs.. so what! And at the end of the movie, 4 people were killed. Or a stupid argumentative relative of mine said "it was a drug movie", bu11$*it! It was a movie about travel fizz. That's my self made expression to describe the feelings of excitement one should have at the various possibilities that await a traveler looking for adventure.
