WTF is a Jenovah's Witness ?

So, I moved to Netherlands recently for higher studies. And I met this girl from the US, and we have gotten quite close. We are not together but we have done all the stuff that needs to be done to be called bf/gf. Anyhow, she recently told me that she is a Jenovah's witness and that it is the reason why she can't see me anymore, over a fucking whatsapp text. I didn't know the term until today, and after googling some, I am more confused now than before.
I really liked this girl and I opened up to someone after quite a long period of lonesome time, last break-up really fucked me up. Now, she has completely ghosted me and I am just so confused.

I had known her for about a month, at first she was making the first moves: asking me out, planning dates and right after we got physical she got a bit weird, the sex was great but when I asked her about the satanic tattoo right above her ass, she just bummed out for a while and then gave a lame ass reply after abt 30 secs that her ex pulled a prank on her and she didnt know what she was getting at the time she got it she was drunk etc etc.
Things started going downhill from there onwards, she also acted very strange around Christmas, and the break up text was the day after Christmas.
I am a Muslim guy in my mid twenties, I have traveled more than many of my age and lived in many different continents, countries and cultures but I have never met a fucking Jenovah's Witness, so please any help would be really appreciated.

Idk, where else should I turn to, I don't want ask my friends as they might not know and it would be letting her secret out, so social media site like fb are not an option either.

Thanks in advance, and please dont ridicule me over this. Idk what to do, I have run out of options and I feel like I deserved more or at least a better explanation.....

reply

I also have a feeling she had someone in her life and he is a witness too, because she pulled some weird disappearing acts on Xmas day. I was more merrier than her, and I never celebrated Xmas, ever !
Do you think it is because I am Muslim. She did mention it a few times, why putting a label on our relationship was something she couldnt afford as I was a Muslim...

Or may be I am just being paranoid but I have never dated a white girl before and I have had many ONS with white girls, the Muslim thing was a problem in Australia, it was a problem in Hungary and I have seen it to be a problem in Netherlands too.

If I don't get a reply from here I will lower my self-esteem to try and reach out to her. Something I dont want to do.

Please help, stop fucking discussing Iranian bullshit politics in General DIscussion forum and help me with this shit!

Tot Ziens !

reply

They do not celebrate Christmas either. She might have been reported to the "council" and got in trouble or felt ashamed as someone else said. Everything she did with you goes against their ways, unfortunately.

Edit: I don't think you did anything wrong. The life of a young Jeovah's Witness can be real difficult. A lot are born in it and many end up leaving as they grow up. From all the friends I had when I was a witness as a child/teenager, only a very few stayed once they reached adulthood.

reply

I think the worse thing you can do is lower your self esteem and continue to try to communicate with her. Just move on.

reply

Great job getting a conversation I was engaged in deleted. That's usually the first thing I do when joining a message board -- tell other people to shut up.

reply

There was no need to delete that iranian discussion thread. The discussion there was fairly tame and current events should be able to be discussed here.

reply

The OP had nothing to do with the thread being deleted. Several people had commented on it objecting to a political topic being posted in General Discussion, one asking where we moderators were to handle it.

They were right. "General Discussion: Talk about anything here...except politics."

reply

And yet a discussion about gay marriage, one of the most divisive public policy issues in recent memory, isn't political. Got it.

reply

The discussion about gay marriage and the transgender character threads are both political. No one's objected and asked that action be taken. Are you?

I have no problem removing them both.

reply

I think the amendment to the original "General Discussion: Talk about anything here" just brings more hassle and b.s. with it. Anything should mean anything providing it falls within the site's Community Standards of no bullying or hate speech. It also opens up the door for future amendments. But that's just my take on it. If most people like it to be excluded then so be it.

reply

I agree people should be able to self regulate when it comes to any thread. The political talk on GD was never that bad and I ignored it for the most part. There is also a difference between the daily grind of American politics and current affairs. We can't seal GD off from the real world.

reply

About a year ago, I remember you posting in support of one of the (several) threads in GD requesting political topics be discussed elsewhere.

In any event, it was Jim's decision to add the text excluding politics from GD, and I'm good with that. There's a whole board devoted to discussion of political topics, if that's what someone wants to discuss.

reply

I have never called for any political thread to be moved elsewhere. I would always respond to the political threads by creating an entertainment thread (Shogun would do the same thing).

Now that there is a separate board, posters should abide by it. If a war breaks out with Iran, we should be able to discuss it here in GD. There are threads currently on the board about gay marriage and transgender rights which could be seen as political. Neither of them bother me.

reply

I wasn't saying you did. But you did post on a thread in support of political topics not being in GD.

reply

I honestly don't recall. It wasn't and isn't a big thing with me.

reply

And therein lies one of the problems. People can't seem to control their urge to not scroll by. It really is very simple to scroll by posts that a person has no interest in (for genuinely mature people that is). And like I've said, adding exceptions to the General Discussion, talk about anything here, opens the door for further exceptions. If that happens, you might as well just close the board down period then because exceptions defeat the entire purpose of "General Discussion".

reply

Discretion is needed. Many movies can generate political discussion such as The Grapes of Wrath or To Kill A Mockingbird. Are these movies now off limits here on GD?

reply

I'd go with whatever Jim wants. It's his site afterall. If I don't like it, I'll leave. If I'm staying, I'm not complaining.

I was one of the more vocal member to defend political threads in GD before the exception was added. When it was "talk about anything" then it's talk about anything. Now it says "talk about anything... except politics" so talk about anything... except politics it is.

reply

Jehovah's Witnesses are members of a very strict Christian sect, that some call a cult. They're not supposed to drink, smoke, or engage in pre-marital sex. Even married sex, is very restrictive. They're not supposed to associate with non-JWs, except at a distance, and are supposed to go out into the world to proselytise on a regular basis.

I would say there's a very good chance she's ghosting you because you're a Muslim, and she's been engaging in behaviour that goes against her religion and feels shame about it.

reply

Wow!
I couldn't figure that post out but you nailed it Cat!

reply

Thanks, Shogie. This sounds like a train wreck to me, but what do I know?

reply

Well, I moved away anyway. Screw that ghost town Enschede !

Thanks for the info tho ! -_-

reply

Nee, ik heb ook nog nooit een "Jenovah's Witness" ontmoet!🤷‍♀️

According to Wikipedia...

Jenova is an extraterrestrial lifeform who crash-landed on the planet two thousand years prior to the events of VII, portrayed in multiple titles in the Compilation as a female humanoid. When Jenova originally crashed, she began infecting the Cetra with a virus, to the point that they were almost wiped out. However, a small group managed to seal Jenova in a tomb, which was later excavated by Shinra. Jenova was mistaken for a Cetra, and samples from her remains were used in the experiments that created SOLDIER and Sephiroth.

reply

When you (Wikipedia) say on the planet, are you referring to Teegeeack? Also, it's my understanding that Jenova is a blood relative of Xenu. It's gross negligence on the part of Wikipedia to leave that out of Jenova's story 🙄

reply

But who is the "witness"???

reply

no one believes this.

reply

Wikipedia never lies.

reply

They are experimental clones, created by Hojo, to seek the Reunion with Mother.

reply

I would think researching JW would give you a clear picture of the type of organization they are. It's a cult with very strict beliefs that run counter to common sense. You are either all in or not, and non-believers only receive the respect the rest of society offers, not any genuine emotion.
I had a close friend for 25 years but when he converted I slowly became detritus in his life, so I have very hard feelings about JW.

reply

ABOUT 150 POUNDS OF PIG FOOD,IF THEY DONT READ THE SIGN.

reply

JW's are a very weird sect of Christianity that follows an older, Greek translation of the Bible. They don't celebrate holidays or birthdays, and believe in a lot of crazy things that were never a part of the original doctrine taught by Jesus. This includes believing only 14,000 people will be saved when the Rapture comes. My dad's mom was a JW, but thankfully, because of grandpa, my dad and his younger sis (my aunt) became actual Christians and don't believe in JW doctrine. (It's a very long, and personal story, you don't need to hear it). Sadly, my dad's older sis (he was the middle child) is a JW, but she's not obnoxious about it.

reply

It's 144 000 who are going to go to Heaven with God. Others will live on Earth for 1000 years until Satan is unleashed one last time to test humanity, fun stuff.

reply

Thank you for the update. I couldn't (and didn't want to) remember all the details.

reply

Can't blame you... It made a mess in my family. :/

reply

Could be worse. You could have had Scientologists in the family. shivers with fear and disgust

reply

Let it go, friend. That way madness lies
