Best drunk in a movie?

Sterling Hayden in "The Long Goodbye."

This is an excellent question, as always Angular turnip. My mind goes directly to the father in 16 candles. He is an excellent drunk. I also think about the broad in nick and norahs infinite playlist. I haven’t vomited and grabbed my gum out of a public toilet, but I have done some rails off unsavory places that I’m not necessarily proud of.

As have I.

And thank you.

I don't remember the dad in 16 Candles being a drunk, but I only watched it once when it came out...

My all time favorite drunk in film is Cary Grant in Father Goose (1964). As a kid I watched it many times and I loved the way he disregarded society and bought a boat.

Michael Caine in Educating Rita. Not a happy drunk, it should be said. But a fairly realistic portrayal.

Exactly my choice too. Also, Michael Caine in the Sherlock Holmes comedy, Without a Clue. Michael Caine plays a great drunk.
