Why Is Everyone Killing Themselves?

Hangings, etc..

reply

I'm not.

reply

Everyone doesn't mean it's every one of us, duh.

reply

Error on my part then.

reply

after I typed this i found out george foreman's daughter killed herself and Olympic cyclist Kelly Catlin also killed herself.

i also heard about some guy named flint

reply

Don't take it personally. I'm fairly sure it has nothing to do with you.

;)

reply

you are mentally sick. you make fun of suicide...

i'm just going to put you on ignore. you have done nothing but troll

reply

It was a joke. I'm sorry.

You had a go at me earlier on, but trust me, I wasn't trying to be nasty.

As for suicide, I treat it very seriously. I've dealt with it in my own life. But it's possible to make jokes out of serious topics, and to be perfectly honest I didn't think this topic 'Why Is Everyone Killing Themselves?' (they're not) seemed very serious.

reply

On the bottom of this page reads,
"Recent celebrity suicides highlight growing national problem"

Its only a problem is celebrities are doing it? Or if a certain group is hooked on opiates?

It is the first time in American history that life expectancy has gone down... (And in fact, three years in a row).

I've probably mentioned it many times, but I think its from a lack of soul nutrition. Technology is replacing humanity.

reply

I agree. While we are connected to everything, we are missing actual connection. Connection to others, to nature, even to ourselves.

reply

"It is the first time in American history that life expectancy has gone down... (And in fact, three years in a row)."

Really? That's interesting. Definitely something worth looking into. That's crazy if true.

"I've probably mentioned it many times, but I think its from a lack of soul nutrition. Technology is replacing humanity."

Agreed. This new iGen are losing the skills of coping and emotional management. Not to mention the lack of critical thinking. But again, this could be anecdotal and/or me ranting about the kids on my lawn.

reply

Yeah, I wouldn't make it up.. Here are a few sources.

I was watching Tulsi Gabbard (running for President) and she mentioned how more soldiers die from suicide than combat deaths - something I've heard many times.

reply

Dude, thanks for the sources!!

Yeah, as someone whose dealing with PTSD, what those soldiers are going through always pulls at my heart. Fcking terrible.

reply

We've spent 7 TRILLION to make things worse... Millions of casualties, and their friends, family, and community is affected - all over the world... Not to mention all the enemies and anger, especially when there are 50 million in poverty in the US alone, as well as 3 million homeless veterans.... And for what? To create enemies so that a few lobby groups can make billions.

In the 5th coincidence today, I read former VP Cheney say we shouldn't pull out -- I guess that Halliburton money isn't enough, considering the stock went up 600% since the war. He's got so much money, he can buy a new heart every other hunting expedition.

reply

It goes to show how it's not just about money for him. He's a dyed in the wool neocon true believer who really does believe foreign conquests makes us safer. Same with that entire imperial outfit American Enterprise Institute from the piece you're citing from.

Hey BillHicksFan,

The following is how to do Direct Links:

Immediately before the link type

Directly after the link type

In others words instead of us MCers seeing “https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/us-life-expectancy-drops-third-year-row-reflecting-rising-drug-overdose-suicide-rates-180970942/”

We would see a direct link: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/us-life-expectancy-drops-third-year-row-reflecting-rising-drug-overdose-suicide-rates-180970942/

reply

The ones doing suicides are not the iGens.

reply

I agree, actionkamen. I was referring to technology taking over, not suicide. I should have clarified. Sorry about that.

reply

These suicidal celebs seems to be from the 80s generations. Maybe these gens are just couldn't cope with the times? I mean, tech advancements are crazy fast today. One day you're the king of rock n roll, tomorrow you're nobody, if not child molester!

Celebs used to be celebrated till they were really old. But now it's the Youtube era. Celebs come and go faster, way faster. Young and old people used to know the same celebrities. Nowadays, young people's idols are those old people don't know. Old people's stars, young people don't know, or don't care anymore.

Having a 90s era rockstar mentality today would make life feels far more miserable. Sad news, really.

reply

Maybe we shouldn't dispose of celebs so quickly.

Perhaps that's something the iGen generation should bear in mind.

reply

Maybe celebs need to know their place better. One is no longer a celebrity if people stop celebrate him/her.

iGen people dindu nothing wrong!

reply

Well said, actionkamen. Good post. Great food for thought.

reply

they're just not good and don't deserve.

Paul McCartney is from wayyyyyyyyyyyy before (1960s) but he commands respect because he has talent. Many others are only celebrated for infamous sex tapes and doing stupid shit.

reply

Who is everyone? I don't know anyone who killed themselves.

reply

oooh lucky you mr special poppin qualude ass

reply

Might want to get that butt looked at, seems to be hurting.

reply

Constant comparing to others on social media is one HUGE reason for the uptake in depression and hence suicide IMO.

reply

Being spoiled and then not being able to "cope" when something doesn't goes their way might be one good reason. Stop coddling and over-encouraging your kids like they are gods so they can toughen up.

The suicide of the comedian who hung himself because his bipolar medicine "dulled" his wit should had been grateful that there is a cure for bipolar (lithium) , unlike other disorders which there is no medicine for (unless he was psychotic or there were other reasons)

reply

That dude from Prodigy hung himself...I cringed when I heard that
Awful, several minute way to go:(

Suicide is an epidemic amongst some populations, we need to do a better job with all of this

reply

you know why. You were going on about it yourself a couple weeks ago. (glad you're still here btw).
