What little known horror films would you recommend?

Baghead

Really enjoyed this movie. I'd love to own it.

reply

Unfortunately it's only ever been released on DVD. I want a blu ray to come out.

reply

Yeah, but at the risk of sounding like "that guy", I think the lesser quality might actually suit this film. Hell, I'd like to have it on VHS.

reply

Fair point, that makes a lot of sense for that movie.

Ooh a Duplass bros film I haven’t seen yet. I liken their films to Brit Marling’s, that simultaneously scratch certain genre itches while leaving a bit of nagging uncertainty, which I find intriguing.

Blind Beast (1969)

I'd call it a sexual horror film, but a good story.. 7.5/10

reply

I wouldn't call The Hunchback of Notre Dame a horror story, more like a sad, unfulfilled, one sided romance.

reply

The 1939 one?

reply

Yes.

I'd agree, it does have some horror elements tho. It gets talked about alongside Phantom of the Opera often which is on that line as well. Amazing movie anyway!

That reminds me, I'll add Carl Dreyer's Vampyr (1932) to the suggestion box.

Also I bumped The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue board the other day for being a less seen great zombie film but I'll recommend it here too.
