Not enough people have seen Bigas Luna's film "Anguish" (1987). It's a really unique, surreal, twisted meta-horror featuring Zelda Rubinstein as a hypnotically potent domineering mother who commands her grown son to relieve people of their eyeballs and bring them to her...

The Love Witch (2016).

Hello Allaby,
just a few, for the moment:
1) Burnt Offerings, 1976 - no splatter effects, no monsters... but there's no sugar-coated Happy End, either ;-)
2) The Believers, 1987 - many movies have slower phases inbetween; this one is different: there's a feeling of high tension and imminent danger, all through the movie; very intense, with a perfect "finale"!
3) It Happened at Lakewood Manor, aka Ants, 1977 - fine example of the then popular genre of animal horror B-movies
4) Without Warning, 1980 - Jack Palance and Martin Landau both were great in this (and I like the "perfect ugliness" of the alien they created... the makers of Predator, many years later, seem to have known this movie ;-)
5) last not least here's a REALLY obscure one:
Quella villa accanto al cimitero (Eng.: The House by the Cemetery), 1981;
- please don't waste time and money for this one if you are searching only for good horror movies (which this is NOT really, it has several plot holes, the synchro from Italian to English is cheaply made, the zombie creature's mask is ridiculously bad, etc.) - but it can be fun if you like the "so-bad-it's good" category, too...
And I really liked the performance of Giovanni Frezza (though someone posted nasty comments about him, years ago); see the thread "The scariest thing about that movie: Bob" where there are also some more adequate and fair comments.
Kind regards

So bad its brilliant!
I saw The House by the Cemetary at a horror marathon a couple of years ago...the theater serves food and beer.
The entire audience went wild for this one...i could hardly breath from laughing so much
A very hiarious experience and well worth it

Hello ShogunofYonkers,
nice post - thank you! "Horror marathon" at the cinema sounds like a good way to spend an evening - do you remember how much the ticket cost you?
The House by the Cemetery is on a multiple-disc box (12 or 13 discs with 3 movies on each disc; a booklet included) called Pure Terror; the set was published in Australia (but luckily, on region free discs). I'm pretty sure there are lots of movies which you might find interesting, too :-)
As to the other 4 movies I mentioned - I suppose you have seen them all, haven't you? - what do you think about these? Would be interesting to read your comments!
Kind regards

Your third made my list, and I loved your first four, thus added your last to my watchlist. Cheers.

[edit] saw it and liked enough of the freshness to offset the other limitations. Glad I saw but would not likely revisit.
