What little known horror films would you recommend?

reply

The Manson Family (1997): A dramatization of the horrific and notorious Manson Family Murders, in the form of super 8 home movies.

It's shocking, violent, crazy, unfiltred and uncensored. I rate it 8/10

reply

i liked that movie, too. it's a bit of a mess, maybe a little jumbled & incoherent, but of the manson-inspired films i've seen it's my favourite.

reply

I love The Slumber Party Massacre.

I don't know how unknown these are...
Pontypool (2008)
The Loved Ones (2009)
The Children (2008)
Funeral Home (1980)
Alice, Sweet Alice (1976)
Parents (1989) - horror comedy
Also... made for tv movie Dark Night of the Scarecrow (1981)

reply

I've seen Alice, Sweet Alice, but haven't seen the others you mentioned. Funeral Home, Alice, Sweet Alice, Parents, and Dark Night of the Scarecrow all have under 10,000 votes, so I would consider them relatively unknown. The first three all have over 15,000 votes, but less than 33,000, so they might be considered somewhat known.

reply

I can vouch Pontypool is a great film.

reply

Agreed fabian, it was an Excellent one room drama/horror

reply

I LOVE "Dark Night of the Scarecrow"! Charles Durning as that angry mailman.

Good call. That one stayed with me for awhile after seeing it

reply

Absolutely! Watched this one about 3 in the morning , all alone in the house. Jeepers, I was trembling by the time it ended! Yes, you think about it and it gets to you, as you go back over the events.

reply

Really great little low budgeter!
I had no idea where this one was headed
