SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT!!!!
There seems to be a little confusion here. Who's male? Who's female?
Some of us have had a bit of trouble in sorting this out?
I will start......
I am female! Anyone else care to contribute to this thread?

I'm a dude.
sharePretty obvious that I am female, but i guess you never know. :)
So yep I am female.
[deleted]
I pretty much guessed that.
Many of us were a bit surprised by one or two revelations. I thought that this thread might shed some light on and for EVERYONE!
It may seem silly, but I was a bit surprised to find out that this one or that one was a male. Another person was a female! I pictured that person to be a man!
Sorry about this. You just never know on the internet! I may not know who I am talking to....
It would be nice to know WHAT I am talking to! lol!
Look! Nobody has to participate in this. I was just curious.
Even if I get answers, I may get lies.
I am Female... 61 years old.... Married to a great guy.... LOVE our one and only son..... Have a cool cat. his name is Charlie!
I have to say, I did think you were a male for a little while lol. It's so obvious now!
shareI'd love to know just how male you thought I was! LOL!
I have been reading this thread and find it interesting. I'm going to have to keep it for future reference until I get everyone sorted out in my head.... for me, that is a slow process!
Somehow, I thought you were from the UK. In the IMDb days there was a Mina on one of the boards I use to frequent. Even though you aren't the same person, I associate the name with that girl from the UK. You are much nicer though.
Oh, I thought Daisy was male. You, I never thought you were anything other than female :).
I find the thread very interesting as well! We talk to eachother so much, and yet we don't know these basic things. Great idea here, MissMargo!
I'm glad I'm much nicer than this other Mina :D. It's funny the associations the mind sometimes makes. And they're really difficult to shake sometimes too.
[deleted]
I am also a female, if the name didn't give it away. ^.^
shareLeia.... you are never sure.
Some of us thought that croft-alice was a girl! We are obviously wrong.
I mean, it's not unreasonable to assume that a girl in Romania is farming on her parent's land. I know that she is a HE now. I sort of figured that "she" had help from the family. Those games and all of that time here on MovieChat can't be done while farming. I do know that farming is hard work and long hours. I was a bit confused. You do need help. I guess I was wrong about him.
I came here only in my spare time,MissMargo...i'm not always available.
shareI understand that croft. We all come here pretty much in our spare time.
I hope you weren't offended by anything I said or that I thought you were a girl. That wasn't my intention. I am truly sorry if I hurt your feelings in any way. You are one of the nicest people I have met here on this site and I have met many.
Now I have this other image of you in my head. I see you as this tall muscular guy with blonde hair and blue eyes.... quiet and shy. Trust me. You are a much better looking guy than the the strapping farm girl I thought you were.
No need to apologize,MissMargo...i'm not that easy to get offended, many have tried and failed.I am kinda amused by the description that you made for me and...no offence but,it's sounds very familiar this description...anyway,to clear the mistery for you...i'm only 170cm tall brown hair and eyes and good body shape.
shareWell, other than the hair and eye color, I have you about right!
Glad to know all is good with us.
how much do you weigh?
share65 kg,phantom8...why?
sharedamn, I keep thinking you're a girl,
shareWhat would give you that idea,phantom8?
shareI keep seeing the name Alice, I have a habit of reading things backwards, all the time, when I turn on my TV is says "SHARP" I always read it as Prash, so I read your name as Alice Croft, I know, it makes no sense but that's how my brain works.
sharePhantom8...indeed,my name is Alice and this is my story. The end of my story😉
shareA guy, 'Murcan :-)
shareThanks. I figured that...
shareSo where's everyone else?
shareI somehow feel that RKane is male. Movie Man is no doubt as well.
I believe that godeway is a lady.
In any case, I was just curious.
I get certain images in my head about people here. It blows my mind when I realize that a girl is really a guy!
Sit down MissMargo and take a deep breath.
I would be honored to be a lady like yourself but I am male.
Is it because I need a haircut ?
I was just going to post that I would've been very shocked if you turnded out to be a lady! lol
share[deleted]
That is awesome !
I shouldn't spoil it. I would love to be Scott Glenn.
The only "celebrity" I can recall being related to is Scott Valentine. Who was Nick in Family Ties.
This of course was 30 years ago. I had the 80's hair and of course the earring (s). I of course had
the Miami Vice clothes. Quite the sight. The ladies seemed to like it. :)
No ranch. I do have 6 acres. No horses, only deer, woodchucks, squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits and
of course my dogs.
I never really thought of how people look. This is intriguing.
[deleted]
Dazed, I don't think you are weird at all. I think many of us get these images of people in our heads from just talking to them. I know that I do. It may be the way they put things or possibly their interests. It's hard to say. I occasionally picture one or two as certain actors/actresses or a relative, someone I work with... someone I knew years ago. That image stays in my head and the person I'm talking to becomes that person. When i discover that I had it all wrong, I suddenly have to look at that person in a new light.
As I told a few others here, I will have to use this thread for future reference until I get some of you sorted out. I sure am glad that I started this thread!
I hope that anyone who was offended will accept my deepest apologies.
[deleted]
LOL! and I'm still trying not to fall out of my chair!
That's actually not too far off. My hair does stay in place, but only because of my short pixie cut. I'm blonde and we have the cigarette and tumbler in common. I haven't quite adopted the kaftans yet..... All in good time. Perhaps when I retire!
[deleted]
I have tried the vaping devices.... not too bad. I still keep them handy. It cuts down on this "nasty habit".
shareSometimes I also got Rick Springfield.
I don't think it's weird. I now think it might be weird to NOT picture anybody.
Rick Springfield????? You are HOT! I have a personally autographed photo of him. Our son got it for me after a concert. He met Springfield and told him that I was a fan. I doubt that meant much to him. He was nice enough to autograph the pic anyway. I also loved him from his days on General Hospital back in the 80's.
You will now be Rick Springfield to me!
NO! Do not say another word, godewey. Just allow me this fantasy.
If you screw this up I will ignore you forever. I do not want to do that because I enjoy so many of your posts.
Allow me this. I have finally accepted the fact that you are no lady!
SMILE!
I wish I could pull off velvet. Of any colour. You got the dark-haired bit correct, though.
I'm with Dewey, I never really "picture" how the people look like. But it is interesting to read about.
EDIT: I'm much more interested in figuring out how old everyone is. That's my specific "weirdness" lol.
[deleted]
I pegged you as being in your 40's. But I wouldn't say 53 is old by any means! I'm with you about you and Dewey being around the same age. April as well maybe... or a little younger?
I already mentioned that I'm 29, so you weren't that far off. Arvin and Croft I feel are around my age as well.
I agree with your other assessments. Cats is indeed quite the enigma!
R_Kane and MovieMan I have down as maybe in their 60's. Popcorn Kernel as well. Though I might be aging up R_Kane and PK! But they do have these "oh, these young folks" moments lol (said with the nicest sentiment, of course!).
I guess not everyone on the Internet _is_ a teenaged boy lol!
[deleted]
You would be surprised...
On that note, I suggest you seek out a documentary called "Tickled" https://moviechat.org/tt5278506/Tickled . It takes you on quite the journey, and I think it's applicable here.

The church turns a blind eye, because they have their own,Dazed
shareThat does sound plausable. Catholic priests have more restrictions than other denominations I think, and Catholicism is more repressive as a whole I feel, so it would make some sort of sick sense. I wonder if Freud had some thoughts on the matter.
What croft said about a scandal like that in the Orthodox church surprises me though. I've never held Orthodox priests in high regard, but since they _can_ get married I never though there can be carryings on of that nature in it as well. I guess I was wrong about that one...
Terrifying stuff all around.
Just FYI, Definitely not a pullover and tweed fan, Dazed.
shareOk. I am sitting and I took that deep breath.
Forgive me godewey. It must have been the hair.
This is precisely why I started this thread. With my memory, I may need it for future reference until I get everyone straight. lol!
Nothing to forgive.
This has been a great thread. I've now been thinking of what people look like.
I say you're somewhere between much younger versions of Judi Dench and Shirley Jones.
"Judi Dench and Shirley Jones"
More like Shirley McClain. Many people have told me that over the years... Even my husband.... I can't see it.
[deleted]
This is good to know. I also feel I would want a hat.
The kind that they wore back in the 30's and 40's
[deleted]
I was thinking more along the lines of some of the hats that Greer Garson wore in Mrs. Miniver.
Something with a little class and pizzazz.
I think the shoes I would have to work my way up to. Don't think I would care for pointy toes.
I have no idea how women can wear them.
For now I will stick with flats.
Are you serious ? There's something seriously wrong with your discernment, naps. I haven't responded here because I thought my posts spoke for themselves, made it obvious.
shareoops. Sorry; thought you were female...
shareDon't understand how you could make that mistake. Just last evening I posted about how hot I thought Jessica Lange was in The Postman Always Rings Twice.
share[deleted]
True. That post I referenced immediately came to mind because it had been so recent.
Yeah, that's how it's perceived. Somehow, men have come to dominate that style of cooking yet don't have a monopoly. The other day, Catbookss revealed to me she likes to grill. I can't recall the last time I've had a woman tell me that.
[deleted]
I'll admit, I've also been fooled by some of the users on here but why would Catbookss want to perpetuate such a deception ? Not that it's out of the realm of possibility.
I think that's a very viable theory. I've thought along those lines, like it's a toned down, more civilized version of camping out. I've learned that there's a minute segment of the world's population that supposedly still carries Neanderthal DNA in its genome.
[deleted]
Going back I can see that I didn't read your statement correctly and it really wouldn't be a deception. You're right. The choice of a username is usually a significant indicator. It's the ambiguous ones that get people to wondering.
shareLike mine,db?
shareYes, but by now you've really set the record straight.
shareWell,phantom8 still thinks that i'm a woman...😉
shareIt’s the “alice” part of your name croft_alice, that leads to the confusion. Here in western society, Alice would almost always be a female name.
You could alleviate a lot of confusion by simply changing your name to croft_alan, Alice’s rather macho brother 😀
[deleted]
Yes, I'm aware that mine is ambiguous but it's based upon very much of a male figure, D.B. Cooper. It was a quick, impromptu creation when I joined the site. That's why I couldn't grasp how naps became convinced I was female. Up until then, I had thought of him as being pretty perceptive.
shareI know a couple women -- and they are most definitely women -- who not only love to grill, but are better than many guys at it!
shareI don't doubt that at all. I often watch the bbq pitmaster competitions, which confirms that.
share[deleted]
Not a Spanish Inquisition at all, Dazed...not even a Swedish Inquisition...just making comments. Nobody's mad or even mildly annoyed at you...we're just making conversation.
shareI think Catbooks is female. I can't think of them as male either!
Where are you Cats!!!
[deleted]
Ahh, Wilson. Now there's a name I haven't heard in a while. (and for a bit there I really though Houdini might be him...)
The only way we can clear this up is for Cats to come clear it up. If she/he wants to that is.
[deleted]
I saw that you knew eachother from before, that's why I became less convinced. But, if we were both thinking it...
Maybe she/he does. I can respect that!
[deleted]
I'm not too convinced he was Ben related. It might be that Ben is more ingenious that we thought, but their MO was too different.
But that beef with Cats was crazy!
[deleted]
I am female, in case anyone was wondering.
shareReally,Apis? I thought...never mind😏
shareI'm also "living next door to Alice (Croft)", so to speak. We are neighbors from the same part of the world.
shareYou "living for 25 years" or less?😉
shareA bit more hehe.
As a curiosity, I speak Melania Trump's native language. When I speak english, I sound just like her.
You're the biggest surprise for me here Apis! All this time I though you were from somewhere in Scandinavia (and male).
Seems like our little EE /adjacent/ "club" isn't _that_ little (and also not a club really, but I hope you know what I mean lol).
In our little club, you're the best in english. If you never mentioned that you're living in Bulgaria, I would've thought that you're a native speaker.
BTW, I once watched a bulgarian movie on youtube without subtitles (after you mentioned it in one of the threads), and I understood most of it.
Aw, thanks Apis!
It varies with me what I can understand in other slavic languages, but if I concentrate I can get the jist of what's being talked about. And the closer the country the easier it is to understand.
BTW, I'm curious, what was the movie?
Same here, especially if they talk slowly. I can't understand polish, for instance... too different.
The movie is Yo-ho-ho. The Fall is one of my favorite movies, but I had no idea that it was a remake until you mentioned it, so I was curious enough to watch the original. Fortunately, there was a copy on youtube, but no subtitles.
I can't make heads nor tails of Polish either. And that alphabet... lol
Yeah, I was looking for subtitles for Yo-ho-ho for someone else here. No luck though. Did you like it? (I know it can't compare to The Fall visually, but otherwise)
Yeah I liked it. I wish I could understand more of it. The story seemed pretty similar. But the important thing is that Tarsem saw it and liked it enough to do a remake, for which I'm grateful :)
shareIt is very similar, but Tarsem did make it his own. It's a rare case of a good remake, and one that builds on the original (maybe because there wasn't much cash in on, and it was clearly a passion project).
