what's the verdict?

Thumbs down if they're going to shift focus away from Kenobi himself to the POC bounty hunter sent to capture him. He won't even be the star of his own show.

Then again, I've given up on these stupid Disney Star Wars TV shows as a whole, as they're disappointing wrecks. And even if Mando wasn't disappointing, it was still ruined by BoBF afterwards.

reply

they managed to redeem Jake Lloyd , with their baby Leia actor

reply

I have no idea what that's all about. First I've heard of "Baby Leia".

reply

young toddler Leia is on the show

Epi 1 - 8 out of 10
Ep 2 - 6 out of 10.

I loved episode one, there were a few casting choices I was not thrilled with bit it all started really well. The emotional state of Ben is very intreaging. Ep 2 - it all happened very fast, action sequences very underwhelming, seeing Ben in a very risky situation and all he has for cover is wearing his hood up with his saber on display as a few characters commented on it. Leia - didnt expect her to be so prominent but the way she is written - its not clicking for me. The girl looks the part but ranking pretty high on the Mary Sue scale IMO. The Inquisitor baddie - was that the best actress available? Im glad the episodes are a decent length but they sure seem in a hurry.

reply

and why wouldnt they? 50% of his show is already about leia and the black girl. it's a show called obiwan too.

reply

But of course a show called Obi Wan Kenobi will be about Leia and some inner-city gang girl pretending to be a dark jedi.

reply

After 2 episodes, I'm going to give it a cautious thumbs up. I'm not blown away, but I'll keep watching, and hope it gets more interesting rather than less.

I wonder about the character of Third Sister. She's written as a worthy antagonist and one with uncertain loyalties, but I don't know if the actress they hired is making the most of the roles. So far, she lacks the gravitas a good villain requires.

reply

Sounds like you may be racist

reply

I wasn't impressed by Moses Ingram's performance either. Which came as a surprise to me as I didn't know I was racist.

reply

You would be surprised how many people are racist, however fail to identify it themselves. This could be another example of this

reply

No, really I wouldn't, but I take your general point on board. However, to assume someone is racist because they did not like an actress's performance is beyond ridiculous.

reply

I guess its just a habit I picked up. Whenever I see a criticism of a black person, I first assume the person is a racist, unless they are able to prove otherwise

reply

The onus is on you to prove that your assumption is correct.

reply

and you sound like a dumbshit crybaby. answer me this question. does the face of a cute 19 year old fit the role of a sinister villain who is bloodthirsty?

reply

Yes because one would never expect it. Brilliant tactical move by the Empire

reply

i thought you were a third party being sarcastic but you're actually the person i replied to. wtf man. is this what you really think? holy shit am i arguing with the biggest dumbfucks ever or what?

reply

I'd give it an 8, enjoyable, but the straight from the projects gangster girl is completely out of place. The Empire nor the Inquisitor Division would never hire her nor would they tolerate her. Could you imagine her in the original trilogy or even prequel trilogy of movies?

Her yelling as the ship pulls away as if she knows what she is talking about is completely laughable. She wasn't in the Prequel trilogy, and has no idea who Obi-Wan is or Anakin Skywalker or his connection to Anakin Skywalker, yet we are supposed to believe that she does.

reply

You say it’s completely laughable but we’ve only seen the first two episodes.

The first episode opens with a flashback to Order 66 at the Jedi temple with the younglings fleeing. One of them could easily be Reva and she’ll be spared by Anakin/Vader and we could see how she finds out the Anakin/Obi-Wan connection.

It could even just be a scene of her looking through a Jedi archive that tells her Anakin Skywalker is the apprentice of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

I do agree though the actress playing Reva is doing a mediocre job so far. Like come on Disney you got Ethan Hawke to play the villain in Moon Knight and you’re telling me you couldn’t get a better actress for the villain in this show?

I think she is one of the younglings that escaped Order 66 in the first episode. Her age matches.

So, she should know who Obi Wan and Anakin are.

reply

I thought it was a fun and enjoyable first 2 episodes, hopefully the remaining 4 are just as enjoyable.

Ewan is great as expected, the story is good enough that I can actually believe Obi-Wan would come out of hiding to help and the dialogue is a massive step up from the prequels. Looking forward to the next episode, haters gonna hate.

reply

I'm out till the last episode. It's obviously the only one that's going to matter.

reply

I was lukewarm with the first episode, but the second one was really good.

I want to keep watching.

reply

It's not too bad. Ewen is great and it's interesting to see what he sacrifices for Luke.

Great to see Obi Wan throwing down.

The third sister inquisitor character's demeanor ranges from angry to angry to angrier and back to angry though ... It's pretty lame.

But of course unless they plan on some serious continuity issues we can assume she dies at some point in the series which will be great.

Overall it's worth a watch so far.
