Bruce Lee's daughter hits out at father's portrayal in Tarantino film

I liked the movie but didn't understand the portrayal of Lee.

Well.. for one it was a day dream in a movie that took a lot of liberties, and most the characters weren’t supposed to be real. Robert Wagner was never even a stunt man.

reply

The portrayal of Lee is a daydream of Booth's.

A daydream within a fantasy, no less.

A fantasy history where Bruce Lee looks a wee bit foolish for a moment but where Sharon Tate and her friends aren't horribly murdered sounds like a fair trade to me.

As well she should. Lee comes off as weak and arrogant in this film, and I thought it was a bit of a low blow. Although, it does prepare the audience for the level of power in Cliff - so when he confronts that guy on the ranch we have a real sense of thrilling anticipation: this dude does *not* know who he's dealing with. Still, though, Lee might have been handled with a touch more respect.

reply

They might have had good intentions but they should have shown more class and be respectful

Was Bruce Lee like this in real life? I have no idea.

reply

No.

reply

Oh, was this intended to be a Bruce Lee BioPic or Documentary?
No? Then who gives a shit.....

Bruce Lee was not a big time star in 1969. There was no point to even referencing him in the movie. He wasn't a 60s icon.

reply

He was only in one scene it although lee could have licorice whipped his lamas ass
