Rate it outta 10

How much did you enjoy it or how disappointing was it?

For me, it's a 7.5. Weak story. Unnecessary human plots. Especially the 2 kids & the conspiracy nut. Glad it was short & didn't drag like the last one though. Definitely a plus in that department.

The action was on point for me. Really enjoyed the monster brawl. I genuinely geeked out so freaking hard. Especially at the final fight.

Would definitely rewatch.

I rate is a "I tried to watch it, I really did try to watch it" out of 10.

If is just big dumb shit for the kiddies.

6 range.

Likes: The fights were great. So much fun to watch them go at it. The visuals during the Hong Kong fight were gorgeous, and the effects overall are really good. I really liked the Kong mythology and want more of it. I wouldn't mind seeing a prequel of Hollow Earth or simply a future Kong movie with him there. Kong kid was cute and way better than Godzilla's kids.

Dislikes: Godzilla was "provoked"/evil coproration didn't work. No one provoked him, Mechagodzilla didn't pop up until the final act. Godzilla went around laying waste to cities because he "sensed" a challenger. No one actually challenged or threatened him. Humanity has a right to defend itself. Millie Bobbie Brown and the other 2 stooges were annoying. They clowned Kong. It was not necessary to have him drugged during that first fight. Godzilla already had several advantages, another one was not necessary. Then to make him need help from the humans in Hollow Earth? Totally unnecessary. Godzilla fan wank material.

7 sounds about right. WAY better than any other American-produced "Godzilla" movie. But, that isn't too tough since the others were a muddled mess.

Personally, this & Skull Island are my favorites. Ok plots, great monster action.

Love the fact that in both films, you can actually see the fights. What's the point of monster action if you can't even see the freaking fights?!?!

reply

Amen! And, Adam Wingard and his cinematographer, Ben Seresin, did a beautiful job lighting everything! Scenes come close to taking on a Vittorio Storaro level of deep color saturation.

Also, none of that "cutting away to the humans while monsters are fighting" sh*t. Oh look, Humans running away. Oh look, we're seeing it from the humans' POV. Oh look, we missed the best parts of the fights.

reply

Yeah, that is true! I didn't think about that. Agreed. Just keep the human stuff out of the way when it's fight time. :-)

9/10. My brain was a little tired when I watched it. I had been watching Delirious, Raw, and If Anything Happens I Love You almost back to back. But I was mightily impressed, especially the cinematography and CGI.

It's honestly a good ol fashioned popcorn flick. You just sit back & enjoy the ride

3, because of the fights. The rest was unbelievably dumb. Not one of the human characters mattered or had a purpose. You have a child who talks to Kong, a woman who talks to the child, a man who talks to the woman who talks to the child; and that's their roles in the movie. Then you have Stranger Things girl playing Stranger Things girl in a Stranger Things sideplot that adds up to someone dumping water on a computer. Stranger Things girl's dad works in tent city and can travel halfway around the world in minutes, for no reason. He serves no purpose other than talking to his daughter, who serves no purpose.

Sounds like a 5 to me, or even a 4.

I downloaded it and the same as with the others I'll skip everything and only watch the fights.

6,5/10

Fun and entertaining enough but totally forgettable.
