Could this be another expensive flop

for Disney this year?

The Nutcracker surely will be and they lost tens of millions on Christopher. Robin and hundreds of millions on A Wrinkle in Time and Solo.

Could this be another expensive flop

^^^Or it could be Another Record breaking Box office hit From Disney's Dominating 2018 year....

The Nutcracker surely will be and they lost tens of millions on Christopher. Robin and hundreds of millions on A Wrinkle in Time and Solo

^^^

Or It could be a hit that adds to Disney's Record breaking Profit revenue from This years Historic Year where They Made Over 700 Million in Profit for Avengers IW....Over 550 Million from Black Panther....Over 350 Million from Incredibles 2 resulting In Disney OWNING every major studio in Hollywood With A total Yearly Profit OVER 2 Billion and Literally KILLING Studios like WB by almost 1 BILLION In Profits

Basically nice try Queen....But even when you Win....YOU STILL LOSE....

Yes Disney's had Flops this year, But in a twist that HAS TO KILL YOU, You cant enjoy those flops because Disney's Had MULTIPLE Historically Great Record breaking breaking hits that accounted for Astonishingly HIGH Profit RATES resulting in Disney Once again easily Winning the 2018 Studio earnings

lol Disney HITS have Been so MASSIVE that basically render Their Flops Mute, The Loses from Disney's 2 Flops you keep bragging about will end up being LESS than 10% of their total Profit...

I'm sorry queen but when You Making Over 2 Billion dollars in Profit from 5 films, Your just not going to lose sleep at Disney when Your flops ONLY account for around 200 Million In LOSES(again Less than 10%)

Now if Disney was having an Average year, Or a Year say like WB is having where WB's had a bunch of smaller hits, that dont even equal Half The PROFIT Disney's Made, Then Yes 2 Massive flops that Costs you hundreds of Million would be concerning , WB's made roughly 1 Billion In Profit this year, If Disney Made A similar, smaller amount like WB, then Their Flops would account for 20 to 25% of thier Profit..that would be concerning

But Like 6 out of the last 7 years Disney Slaughtered WB and Once again Posted Historically Great yearly earnings and Had such Massive Hits, Their Flops simply become basically a non issue only accounting for a tiny less than 10%........AS USUAL Nice try....but once again YOU FAILED HORRIFICALLY!

reply

They've had 3 flops...not 2. Christopher Robin is a loser of tens of millions. If that ain't a FLOP I don't know what is. I bet you dollars to doughnuts that the super-expensive Nutcracker will be another one to add to the list in just a couple of weeks.

reply

If JL makes Woner Woman money it is still a financial success regardless "expectations". I"m sure the breakeven point is around $600 million. .

Apparently you think JL "broke even" at $600 million on a $300 million budget.
Christopher Robin has made $187 milion on a $75 million budget.

Math. Do you know it?

reply

Lol you got owned, the Nutcracker bombed so hard hahaha.

reply

Who "got owned"?

I clearly predicted it would in my OP. Also, it's looking like Ralph Breaks the Internet may also be a money-loser for Disney. A month into it's run and it's yet to crack 300 million on a 175 million budget. It needs to really break out(no pun intended) in it's remaining territories if it is to break even.

And now Mary Poppins with it's 130 million budget is being drowned out(no pun intended) by the feverish excitement around Aquaman. Mary Poppins main appeal is in only two markets...North America and the UK.

reply

Are you like autistic or something, the comment isn´t an answer to any of yours. Imbecile.

reply

the way my wife keeps talking about this she's liable to buy all the tickets herself. LOL

reply

I think it looks good and can't wait to see it but I am concerned for it's commercial viability.

reply

Even odds, I'd say.

It doesn't look great, but it does look like something that will keep the goddamn kids quiet for a while, and that's always good for some butts in the seats.

reply

But do today's kids have any interest in Mary Poppins?

This generation of kids are clearly a Universal/Illumination bunch.

reply

Today's kids of Mary Poppins age don't buy their own movie tickets, their tickets are bought by parents who are desperate to find a way to keep them quiet for a couple of hours during school vacations. If their parents or grandparents watched "Mary Poppins" as kids, some tickets will be sold.

Which means some butts in the seats, but not necessarily enough to pay for a big-budget production. I also wonder about butts in overseas seats, is the Mary Poppins story known outside the English-speaking world?

^^^

but do you really think your a good judge of Interest??

I mean afterall, You expected and predicted INTEREST for UNIVERSAL's The Grinch to result in a 135 M OW......and The actual Interest turned out to be HALF that with a 67 M OW

Its clear, You are a terrible Judge of what KIDS are interested in

reply

I've got 'Mary Poppins Returns' and 'The Nutcracker and the Four Realms' down as the biggest family film hits of the year. The only thing is they might be competing with each other at Christmas. I'm not sure when 'Nutcracker' is out. I suppose it is still planned to bring 'Mary Poppins' out on Christmas Day as originally scheduled.

reply

@greenbudgie

With all due respect...not even close. The Grinch will, far and away, be the biggest family film thzis holiday season. The Nutcracker looks destined to be yet another expensive flop for Disney. Mary Poppins is going have to really break out both here and overseas to even break even.

Disney's best shot at a holiday hit is Ralph Breaks the Internet but with a budget of 200 million and competing against The Grinch it also has an uphill battle. Plus, it's a sequel to a film that couldn't even earn 500 million worldwide.

reply

You might be right about 'The Grinch' if the advertising is anything to go by. The advert is driving me nuts on IMDb. It keeps blocking what I want to do. And the Grinch himself is still there giving me a mean look after I've switched his video off.

^^^^^^^^^^

lololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololol

The Grinch is currently only making 50% of what you predicted....You expected a 135 Million OW....Instead its debuting to 67 Million

Mary Poppins is tracking to easily SLAUGHTER The Grinch with a 350 M domestic total

^^^

Your referring to Wreck it Ralph right...The film that grossed 491 M on 165 Million Budget that was A Big hit and made Disney A Big Profit and then had A MASSIVE Run on Home Media resulting in More Profit right?

Another 130 Million from BR and DVDs and 50M from Digital....

lol lets not forget the Wreck It Ralph toys that surely Made Disney Tons of money

basically your referring to The BOX OFFICE HIT Wreck it Ralph right?

just wanted to be clear...

Mary Poppins is going have to really break out both here and overseas to even break even.

^^^

by far my favorite part of the post....

as its entirely possible MPR could break even SOLELY on its domestic gross...

But Thanks for stating your expectations, Now that we know Your expecting MPR to Break even at Best, we'll Now know how Impressed you'll be if/when it makes A Huge Profit....

Mary Poppins is going have to really break out both here and overseas to even break even

^^^ Also why does this sound familiar?

Remember when you claimed "AM2 would at best Break even"?

reply

Ooooo...be prepared to be embarrassed yet again bill with this crowing post about Mary Poppies box office prospects bill.

reply

I do not imagine nutcracker will be a hit, however Mary Poppins is a sequel to one of the biggest hits of Disney history. And really, if Saving Mr Banks did well, I do not see this being a flop.

reply

I believe "Saving Mr. Banks" was a low-budget film, the only expensive thing about it was Tom Hanks and he may have given them a break because the film was small.

But "Mary Poppins Returns" looks VERY expensive, with period sets and dozens of dancers and actors on wires and CGI out the wazoo. It looks like the kind of big film that needs good international returns to make a profit, which brings me back to the question - is Mary Poppins known outside the English-speaking world?

reply

I think Mary Poppins has had an international following. There was a Russian TV movie about her in 1984.

reply

That is an impressively obscure piece of knowledge!

reply

@Oliver

Agreed. The Nutcracker looks to almost certainly be a flop. Of all the upcoming holiday films this one stands out the most as a commercial misfire.

In between some of their Marvel hits(Ant Man 2 did just okay) Disney sure does release a lot of expensive clunkers. Even Star Wars is circling the drain for them.

reply

They're remaking, re-imagining, adding sequals, adding prequels, and expanding "'verses" to every franchise. If the wizard of Oz didn't escape, it's no wonder to see Mary Poppins on the roster.

At least they didn't have Mary Poppins vs the Predator... yet...

reply

Haha I would actually pay to see that one! Mary popping dancing with predators! I want to see it now!

12/21/2018 Aquaman $45,000,000 NEW $175,000,000 NEW

^^^^^

good call on Mary Poppins being a flop queen....Lol its only tracking for a 350 Million + domestc total....

meanwhile, Boy brace for Impact huh? Aquaman heading for nowhere near The Guaranteed 135 Million + opening your predicting queen!

Its like God Hates you queen and is intentionally putting you through a worst case scenario!

whats worse than Aquaman flopping or under performing?

lol oh you know having the same release date as A Disney Film that Literally Destroys Aquaman !

no but seriously goodluck spinning A opening weekend for Aquaman between 40 and 60 million and 175 M total after Spending 2 month Trolling on AM2s 75 Million Opening and 216 Million total.....cant wait to here you come up with a reason why Aquaman's box office is RED HOT while its less than AM2s....

reply

Ummmm...bill... you talk about these tracking numbers like they are already a realized fact.

LOL

There is plenty of time for these to either rise or fall. You don't find it even slightly ODD that they predict a 40 million opening that multiplies 9X for a 350 million total?!?!?!

And I'm supposed to have a serious debate over these scattershot numbers?

reply

Ummmm...bill... you talk about these tracking numbers like they are already a realized fact.

^^^

Oh no queen not at all...

In fact in other posts I specifically say, I expect Aquaman to exceed these numbers....

No the only reason I'm pointing them out....Is its proof your Delusional RED HOT HYPE claims are dead wrong...

with tracker this low, Its clear theres very little hype or awareness for Aquaman right now....

As I said weeks ago, If Aquaman is going to succeed, Its going to be IN SPITE of The DCEU and the year and 1/2 of negative news....

You insane claims that Aquaman Is RED HOT coming off A disaster in Justice League and one DCEU Negative story after another is now proven to be wrong by confirmation the film is tracking disastrously low....

at this point the only thing that can save Aquaman is Aquaman itself....which I expect to happen....I do believe Aquaman is going to actually be good and Hype Will eventually get HOT due to positive WOM and Great reviews....

but its also clear The Bridge is BURNT between Audiences and DC/DCEYU films....the days of films like Suicide Squad tracking huge and opening Huge despite being terrible and getting awful reviews is over....

Audiences are kinda out right now, If Aquaman is going to get them back...Its 100% on the quality on the film....

There is plenty of time for these to either rise or fall. You don't find it even slightly ODD that they predict a 40 million opening that multiplies 9X for a 350 million total?!?!?!

^^^^

Its over Christmas you gigantic idiot....

Look no further than last year when a film you often quoted did THE EXACT SAME THING....

Jumanji opened to a 36 million dollar OW and went on to gross over 400 Million domestically

so please, do some research next time before embarrassing yourself and suggesting something is "Slightly Odd" yet literally happen 1 year ago on THE EXACT SAME RELEASE DATE

Epic Fail....number 1 ruling in Trolling ...do research...

on a scale from 1 to 10 just how dumb do you feel right now?

to literally say "You don't find it even slightly ODD that they predict a 40 million opening that multiplies 9X for a 350 million total?!?!?!"

and NOT realize that exact thing happened less than 1 year ago ON The exact same release date.....is Just A once in a life time fail!

please go sit in Shame now and feel deep regret for uttering such stupidity without doing any research....

lol how hard would it have been....

all you had to do was think "Ok I'm about to suggest its crazy to expect a film to have a X9 multiplier over christmas? Maybe I should check boxoffice.com to see if thats even possible"......within 2 minutes you would have found the exact scenario happened last year with Jumanji on The exact same release date....

you could have then took a few minutes to think of a different excuse and saved yourself this horrific embarrassment....

whats most stunning is you have NOTED Jumanji's excellent legs many times, when you were trying and horrifically failing to troll on Black Panther, you constantly brought up Jumanji has an example of Great legs....

How you let Jumanji slip your mind and forgot it had The exact same X9 Multiplier your now suggesting is impossible is beyond me and takes this fail to a whole dfferent level!

reply

LOL

As if Mary Poppins Returns will have the 5-quad appeal of Jumanji. I can really see all the boys really biting at the bit for this one...LOL.

reply

^^^

lol

Yet your predicting the exact same thing for Aquaman....

I'll tell you what, If I had to put money on one film having Jumanji like legs between Mary Poppins and Aquaman....My Money goes on The extremely Family friendly Mary Poppins...

also worth noting, Bo.com is predicting exactly that!

Bo.com Is predicting Both Aquaman and Mary Poppins to open between 40 to 45 Million...

Yet They believe MP will have excellent legs making 350 M + domestically....

Bottom line....

Its not very smart to act like "something is crazy" when YOU are PREDICTING the exact same thing....

You literally said word for Word....You think Aquaman is going to have a Jumanji like run.....

Yet you respond Like I'm crazy for suggesting MR might have a Jumanji like run....

Epic Fail!

PS....

Your prediction on Aquaman means you believe Aquaman is going to make over 1 BILLION + Just domestically, lol You accidentally predicted Aquaman to have the greatest domestic BO run of all time....

You literally said word for Word....You expect Aquaman to open to 135 Million + OW and Then have Jumanji type holds....

lol well that would mean Aquaman would have to have a X8 Multiplier....Meaning if it opened to 135 Million +....X8 would be over 1 Billion domestically....

lol good luck with that....

Meanwhile, I'll be over here in the real world expecting A realistic 40 Million OW for MP and The realistic excellent Christmas legs resulting in A close to Jumanji type run....

But Hey I'll be the first to congratulate you if Aquaman literally does what no movie in history has ever done and Tops the 1 B Mark domestically

reply

How 'bout that Aquaman/Mary Poppies holiday box office matchup, bill?

LOLOLOLOLOLOL

reply

Bill left lmfao

reply

Lol...are you surprised after how badly he embarrassed himself?

reply

let's just say i won't be taking any Stock Market tips from that guy

reply

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...Love it!

reply

But but, it has Dick Van Dyke in it. That MUST mean it'll be box office hit.

reply

I'm stoked to see it. I was four when, in 1964, the original was out, on drive in, is where we saw, maybe my first flick memory.

I always enjoy Dick Van Dyke.

Did you see his cameo in the 2014 film with Jennifer Garner and Steve Carell, "Alexander and..Day',..:)
