Hulk hiding while Thanos killed all those asgardians

First plot hole

HA! Good point. Just waiting around until Thanos and his guys were done with the genocide.

Every movie has problems like this....I do admit, though upon my very first viewing that exact thought went through my head, Immediately after the awesome fight between Hulk and Thanos was over, I thought "so he was just hiding while They Killed and destroyed the ship and was secretly waiting for Loki to Utter the perfect catch phrase to Pounce"

anyways could easy be explained if someone really wanted to try and desperate defend it....but me, I'm fine With just admitting, It was intentionally written that way for effect

My Mind is more blown at the potential "Movie Ruining" PLothole of Why didnt doctor Strange open and close a Portal on Thanos's Arm Cutting the Gauntlet and his arm off ?

we literally saw foreshadowing of this 20 mins into the movie, When Strange Literally does THE EXACT same thing to the HUGE creature With The Hammer, lol Ironically Strange closes a portal that Cuts of the creatures arm, The EXACT same arm that Thanos uses for the Gauntlet and even more STUNNING IN THE EXACT same PLace ...

Bottom Line, This potential Plothole ALMOST ruined this movie for me.....lol I was reading a site, and The title was "Avengers IW has A Plothole that is So Obvious it will Blow your mind that you had not thought of it before"....

then sure enough, My Mind was blown when I realized All Strange had to do was Open and close a portal around Thanos's arm cutting his arm and Gauntlet off...

Hell he didnt even need to do the arm, could have opened it around his neck and closed it cutting his head off....In Thor 3, Strange opens a portal on the ground, while Loki is standing which makes Loki instantly fall through the ground, Strange could have done the same thing to Thanos but closed it after his Legs fell through and cut him in half killing him...

bottom line, after reading the potential plothole, I sat In stunned silence for about 20 mins trying to figure a way around this plothole, I just could not imagine Marvel Studios and the writers making this big of a mistake....

and after 20 mins, I finally figured out The ONE and ONLY FIX to this plothole.....

and It perfectly explains and covers the potential plothole....and that explanation is THE SPACE STONE

after some thought it finally hit me, that the writers of this film, was well aware of this Plothole and specifically wrote the Opening of this film to cover the PLothole....

The movie starts off with Thanos already having The Space Stone, we see Thanos get every other stone in the movie, but for some reason The movie starts with Thanos already having The space stone, Why?....Because The Space stone allows Thanos to create and close Portal and Travel where ever he wants in space....

Thanos from the start of the movie has the ability to Open or Close Portals....I got to believe this gives Thanos the ability to Stop Doctor Strange from Closing a Portal and cutting him in half or cutting his arm off...If DS actually tried, created the portal, and tried to close it on Thanos's Arm, Thanos would be able to stop it with the Space stone...

for me this is just too big of a Plothole for the people at Marvel too Miss....I think they clearly thought of this, knew about it and intentionally designed the movies beginning to cover this potential movie ruining polthole

In the beginning Thanos had a purple Power Stone the one he got from Xandar and the Space Stone a.k.a Tesseract he took from Loki.

reply

Except for the fact that he was half asleep to the point where starlord was able to punch him several times while they were taking forever to pull off the gauntlet. The opening and closing of portals happen so fast that Thanos wouldn't have been able to react quickly enough in time before his arm was already cut off. Trust me, there are a ton of ways they killed off Thanos, but all of them are retarded.

reply

There's no reason to believe that the owner being awake or asleep affects an Infinity Stone. Keep in mind that the whole "open a portal" is like the first thing a novice learns in magic school in the MCU. It's highly, highly doubtful that the Space Stone doesn't render its user immune to something so basic as the "Wingardium Leviosa" of Dr. Strange's arsenal.

reply

It would have been nice to have a scene of a portal-slicing attempt, but the gauntlet and space stone stops it automatically and prevents it from closing. Then a quick line from Thanos like "That won't work on me, boy!"

reply

Yeah seriously, even an attempt to portal cut off his arm(just as was shown is possible in the very beginning of the movie) in order to not insult our intelligence would have been great.

Also, you can't make assumptions about what the infinity stones can and can't do truly, especially while he's asleep, since from my understanding of what each of those stones are capable of and do, there's no way in hell that it should have even been possible for them to even get near him, not even a representation of himself, let alone all of them restraining him and manipulating his bodies in various ways largely by sheer physical force of non-special materials or magic. It's just a slap in the face.

reply

To clarify, it was Wong who cut off Cull Obsidian's arm.

reply

Banner is reluctant to turn into Hulk out of fear that he'll lose control and make things worse. More over, he's now afraid he'll never go back. It's likely he felt the Asgardians could take care of the situation and Hulked out when things got too severe.

reply

Hulk just got done helping to save the day in Thor Rangorok though so he doesn't have a reasonable enough excuse to not come out to literally save the universe. Ridiculous.

reply

We don't know why he didn't help Banner after the first fight with Thanos. We'll have to wait until Avengers 4.

reply

Because "Earth hates Hulk", remember? So as soon as Banner got back to Earth, Hulk became pouty and uncooperative.

reply

Wait, are you on meds?
Your original answer didn't make much sense, Loot pointed out why, and you immediately switch gears into pretending the question is about why Hulk wouldn't come out AFTER the fight with Thanos?
You okay?

I made two posts: one about Banner and one about Hulk as they are essentially two different beings. My first post was about Banner's reluctance to turn into Hulk. Then Loot mentioned that Hulk doesn't have an excuse not to come out and save the universe now. At that point, we are no longer talking about Banner but about Hulk. And we don't know why Hulk doesn't want to help Banner/the universe.

reply

That's the most extreme form of impotency I've ever seen before! Hulk knows half the universe is about to be destroyed, he's not stupid. I'm not buying that level of cowardice since he should still be mad at Thanos for whooping his ass already.

There are supposedly no limits to the strength hulk can possess as it is a function of his rage. Hulk's love of smashing, helping friends, and having good battles is enough for him to eventually come out even if hesitant at first

reply

As I said, we don't know why Hulk doesn't want to come out. For all we know, he can't. I'm guessing that's what the sequel is for.

reply

Or, Banner was knocked out when Thanos and his pals busted into the ship, and became the Hulk when he awoke.

reply

We could easily say he was blown out of an airlock during the fighting and had been clinging to the outside of the ship, only just managing to make his way back in at the time Loki announced him. Half of the vessel was missing after all.

reply

Probably Loki hides him with magic and wanted to release him at the right moment.

reply

Banner was afraid of turning into Hulk and fighting in a confined space because he would have been responsible for casualties. Not to say it's moral to wait for them to die, but it's the lesser of two evils than directly having the blood on your hands. Beside he probably made a fair assumption that Thor and Loki could handle it, not knowing how powerful Thanos was until it was too late.

Secondly we don't know how fast the situation escalated. Thanos might have come in the blink of an eye and wiped everyone out.
