Spoilers alert: Have ever been a movie where the bad guys trully wins?

I loved this movie, is the best MCU but is also the saddest and darker of them all.

Thanos WITHOUT the Infinity Gaunlet is super strong, so strong that he beats and scares Hulk. Then with the Infinity Gaunlet, he just became a god and trully invencible. (I don't think Captain Marvel or Adam Warlock or any other godlike Marvel character can take him).

My opinion is Thanos in AIW is even more OP than in the Comics. He is just that over the top.

In fact, in the very end with the "snap-erase-50% everything-thing", AIM became kind of a horror movie.

I have it ranked as TIED for The #2 Best MCU film...

I have

The Avengers #1
Captain American The Winter Soldier and Avengers IW TIED for #2...

but IMO all 3 movies could easily be ranked #1 and be any order....

for Me Cap 2 is the overall movie and Best movie made from a technical standpoint...

The Avengers Is IMO the single best anyone has ever done Bringing A Comic Book to Life....The Goal of The Avengers wasnt to have some deep story or be an Oscar type...When putting together The FIRST TEAM UP film you want to deliver and give the audiences what they want, You want to see these characters together interacting and most importantly you want to see all these characters in Action together and fighting as a team...for me, Fiege, Whedon and company did that Literally the best you can possible do...

as for AIW...It IMO is unlike in CBM ever made...The scale, Ambitions, Villain and stakes in this film is simply beyond anything ever seen in a CBM...Thanos is the greatest threat ever put of film in a CBM, The ending Is Masterful, There are parts of This film that are for me, The Best in any CBM ever....The first 10 mins of the film and the way they masterfully introduce Thanos and Instantly make The audience understand what kind of Threat he is and Level of Threat he is, Is IMO the Best start to a CBM ever and the best Introduction of a Villain, The Ending is also IMO one of if not the best ending to a CBM ever, The Fight between Thanos Vs SM,IM,DS,and The Guardians on Titan, Is IMO One of If not the best fight in CBM history, and IMO This film has some of the best HUMOR ever put in a CBM, The scenes that feature Thor and The Guardians and Thor and Rocket are just incredibly well written and perfectly executed humor and Jokes...but Most All...Its Thanos that Makes AIW one of The Greatest CBMs ever made, for Me hes easily the 2nd greatest villain ever behind Ledgers Joker, and I think over time Hell Pass Ledgers Joker.

"Thanos WITHOUT the Infinity Gaunlet is super strong, so strong that he beats and scares Hulk."

Thanos had the Infinity Gauntlet when he beat the Hulk, he just didn't have all the stones yet. He did have the power stone though, which probably explains why he was able to do it so easily.

reply

The Power Stone wasn't lit up when Thanos fought the Hulk, so it wasn't active.

reply

Who says it has to be lit up to be active? I understand the time stone and reality stone must be activated to use, but whose to say the power stone isn't an "always on" effect?

reply

Since the other stones require activation, it is reasonable to assume that the Power Stone also requires activation.

And I can't remember now, but didn't Thanos activate the Power Stone and use it to destroy the ship at the end of that scene?

reply

It's all speculation, man.

The Tall Man in Phantasm. Even if you watch all the sequels he wins in the final movie.

reply

Speaking of which, probably at least one Nightmare on Elm Street.

Yeah, lots of European movies. Leviathan (2014) and The Great Silence (1968) come to mind.

The Perfect Storm - The storm wins in the end.

Even in this franchise, I can think of a few villains who won:

Loki became ruler of Asgard (at least until Thor: Ragnarok),
Helmut Zemo manages to destroy the Avengers in Captain America: Civil War,
Surtur destroys Asgard in Thor: Ragnarok,
Even Killmonger succeeded to an extent as he convinced T'Challa to open Wakanda to the rest of the world in Black Panther.
