Spoilers alert: Have ever been a movie where the bad guys trully wins?

I loved this movie, is the best MCU but is also the saddest and darker of them all.

Thanos WITHOUT the Infinity Gaunlet is super strong, so strong that he beats and scares Hulk. Then with the Infinity Gaunlet, he just became a god and trully invencible. (I don't think Captain Marvel or Adam Warlock or any other godlike Marvel character can take him).

My opinion is Thanos in AIW is even more OP than in the Comics. He is just that over the top.

In fact, in the very end with the "snap-erase-50% everything-thing", AIM became kind of a horror movie.

In 'Skyfall' the villain Silva basically won by getting M killed in the end.

Body Heat (1981).

Doesn't Zemo technically win at the end of Captain America: Civil War? He wanted the Avengers to turn on each other and split them apart.

Arlington Road - Bad guys REALLY win here. And it's a case where the truly good guy does lose.

And when Thanos beat the Hulk he was wearing the infinity gauntlet with the power stone. That's how he was able to overtake the green machine.

reply

@orangeflava that is very true, I forgot that! However, could Thanos have taken Hulk WITHOUT the gaunlet?

reply

That's the question I want answered as well! Maybe they will give the hulk a chance to come out in the next movie and face him without the glove and added powers

PLANET OF THE APES (most of the movies)

THE THING (debatable)

MATRIX 2

TERMINATOR 3

ALIEN COVENANT

Fallen with Denzel Washington. Good damn movie.

reply

I dont remember Fallen well but I think Denzel was a cop going against a demon that was jumping from person to person but I dont think he "lost" or the "demon" won.

reply

That’s the one. Demon definitely won, though Denzel nearly got him

The Empire Strikes Back

If you think about it, there have been two previous movies where the bad guy won - Darth Vader in Empire Strikes Back and Joker in Dark Knight. A:IW seemed a lot more final but we all know there's a way out, just like in the previous mentioned films. The rebels got away to fight another day and Batman took all the blame for Harvey Dent's crimes. There's always a way out but it's still satisfying on a certain level, to see the villain's plans realized.
