Now that Disney Ruined Star Wars...

How long before they ruin Marvel too? For now Marvel Studios operates semi-independently but how long will it take for the Disney execs decide they can start "improving" things and then that Disney messaging starts creeping in and before you know it you've got Captain America getting ass raped by Howard the Duck to make a point about the evils of imperialism or something.

So how many more good Marvel movies do we get before it just turns into Disney crap like all the rest?

reply

Yeah...like none of the other studios push a left-wing ideology and agenda...just Disney. If only those conservative patriots at Universal and Warner Bros could gain control of this.

Lolololol

hey queen good call on Black Panther.

lol remember you Claimed Theres no way Panther would live up to the extremely high expectations, you said Black Panther would not Meet those expectations and would therefor be a disappointment....lol and you said this when The Expectations were at 140 M....lol...forget the last 4 days when Exceptions went from 140 to 150+ to then 160-to 180 M....Nope you all but guaranteed Black Panther wouldnt get close to the 140 Million predicted last week.

You then made it worse, by predicting BP to only have a 120 Million OW..

and then completely buried yourself by claiming as late as Last night, you werent even sure PB could make 300 Million domestically...

lol just a total THRASHING for you yet again queen...

lol this is 3rd time in the last 3 months you've literally Been MURDERED by horrifically awful box office predictions....first JL, then Thor 3 and Now Black Panther...

you created this ^thread 15 days ago...lol at that time "Expectations" were between 120 to 140 Million....and you claimed it May be Impossible for BP to meet those expectations...lol NOT ONLY did BP meet those expectations, but its ultimate going to meet all expectations and gross over 150 M on OW.

this has to be getting OLD for you...it would be one thing if you "Won some and lost some"....but You LOSE every time, every prediction you make FAILS...and NOt Just fails but Horrifically fails...

3 examples come to mind...

1. You predicted JL to open Above 150 Million, the night before it opened, ...lol JL ended up opening to 94 Million...

2.You claimed after Thor 3s 3rd weekend at the box office "a 300 Million dollar domestic gross was officially DEAD"...Literally days later Thor 3 easily passes 300 Million

3. the last 2 weeks you have relentlessly claimed BP wont Meet expectations, Predicting BP will Open to 120 Million(Maybe Lower) and Struggle to make 300 Million....BP is now set to open above 150 Million(Maybe as high as 180 M) and is guaranteed to easily pass 300 Million, With A real shot at 400 M +

you are the single worst box office Predictor ever....

well you know now that I think about it...Black Panther Succeeding like this kinda Fitting....

Ironically you watched in horror as JL was a box office disaster and made Less than ANYONE COULD Have Imagined....Now you get to watch in Horror as Black Panther exceeds all Expectations and make more than ANYONE could have imagined...

lol 2 completely different ends on the spectrum....yet both Results leave you Beaten, Broken and In SHAME....lol

Queen is doing a surprisingly good job at replying for someone who was LITERALLY murdered. Are you sure you didn't mean figuratively?

Lucasfilm and Marvel both operate pretty independently of Disney control. Even people on here knowingly blame Kathleen Kennedy of Lucasfilm for the faults of The Last Jedi (and Rian Johnson of course).

reply

True, people don't really blame Disney. Sure I think Disney does have control over their IP's, but It's Kathleen Kennedy who is in actual command and control over the movies. Disney just checks in to see if it doesn't violate their 'Disneyisms'.
From then on, everything is a go.

In my opinion, and I dare say the opinion of most, Disney fixed Star Wars.

Marvel has produced nothing but great films so far, and I anticipate more of the same in years to come. They may one day release a film that gets bad reviews, but overall I expect nothing but additional greatness in years to come.

reply

Agreed on all counts.

reply

I agree that Disney "fixed" Star Wars, as well. Loved R1 and TLJ but...we seem to be in the minority. In terms of box office and buzz for future projects...something has gone horribly wrong.

reply

The Disney Star Wars films are currently the 3rd and 9th top-grossing films in history. The side project Rogue One is 23rd on the list. All grossed over a billion dollars. The Force Awakens earned more domestically than any movie ever has. Critical response to all three has been through the roof, as has audience response. I don't think we're in the minority at all. Disney is making money hand over foot, and audiences are loving the movies. The entire planet is on the edge of its seat counting down the days until Episode 9 is released. Nothing about this seems horribly wrong at all.

reply

"Critical response to all three has been through the roof, as has audience response."

I take it you are unaware of the audience RT score for TLJ? Perhaps you have not actually read the audience reviews there, or on IMDB for that matter. If anything the whole TLJ debacle has just shown, to anyone who didn't already get it, just how meaningless the "critics" opinions are.

"The entire planet is on the edge of its seat counting down the days until Episode 9 is released."

Yep. That's exactly what's happening.

reply

You don't take the Rotten Tomato audience score seriously, do you? An audience score that doesn't require a person see the movie, and allows a person to vote as often as they wish, is not a trusty metric. Likewise imdb. Those can offer a good metric at times, but since they're so easily manipulated they are useless when it comes to a film that has a small, vocal contingent of activists bashing it.

If you want to get an honest sense of how an audience felt about a movie, the best tool is probably Cinemascore. It's a bit skewed to the positive because it polls people who went to see a film on opening night, many of whom might be more inclined to view it favorably, but it is the only tool I know of that gives a score based on having seen the movie, and only allows one vote per person.

You are in a tiny minority if you aren't excited to see Episode 9.

reply

"The Disney Star Wars films are currently the 3rd and 9th top-grossing films in history."
Even when adjusted for inflation? Even when taking in to account how much more expensive movie tickets have become over the years? These stats are misleading.

reply

I'll be honest, I didn't like the newest Star Wars movies but frankly I never really wanted a sequel to Return of the Jedi. Honestly the whole last movie was a scene for scene remake of Empire Strikes Back. I kept thinking, "I wish I was watching Empire Strikes Back." through out the whole movie. That's not really a good thing in my opinion. They shouldn't have tried making it so similar to it. Just like they shouldn't have made the previous one a shot for shot remake of A New Hope. And this solo Han Solo movie doesn't look that great to me either.

On Marvel, there have been some bad ones. I didn't like Iron Man 3. Even outside of the Mandarin twist it just didn't seem that great to me. Plus it was just a retread of the other 2 in the end with some rich guy having a vendetta against Tony. And the Mandarin thing is unforgivable.

Although I liked some parts of Spider-Man Homecoming I hated the change to Flash and I didn't like the new girl who they claimed to be MJ at the end despite being nothing like the character in looks or personality.

reply

With a name like yours, you must be a Spider-Man fan, as am I. He's hands down my favorite comic book character, and I was enthralled by Homecoming. It was the first time I felt a Spider-Man film was truly a Spider-Man film. Both Peter and Spidey spoke and acted like the comic come to life. The previous 5 films, some of which were good, all felt like Hollywood hero films where the hero dressed as Spider-Man, but felt utterly unrelated to the book. It captured the spirit of the early Ultimate Spider-Man runs, which is by far the best incarnation of the character, and I've been reading all his comics since the '70s.

The updated Flash was brilliant, I thought. The meathead B.M.O.C. worked in 1964, but Revolori struck me as what a 2018 bully, especially at a magnet school where intelligence is revered, should be. His bullying was something Peter couldn't defend himself against, even with "spider powers," unlike the jock version, who always felt like a fake threat.

I liked Zendaya, too. Like Flash, she felt believable as a modern teen. Mary Jane as the '60s airhead go-go dancer type worked then, but I liked seeing her as a snarky, self-deprecating, intelligent character for a change. And isn't she specifically *not* Mary Jane, btw? I heard that the MJ was just an easter egg type shout out to the comic.

Iron Man 3 is my least favorite MCU film, but I recently re-watched it and realized it is still an enjoyable movie.

Star Wars-- *hated* the prequels. They were barely scripted, and could have been made sooooo much better with intelligent rewrites by credible writers. Agree that Jedi is a not-as-good Empire rehash. But The Force Awakens, to me, is as good as Empire, and a wonderful fresh restart to what was a moribund franchise after those foul prequels.

reply

They didnt ruined Star Wars and they wont ruin Marvel either.
