Can we all agree the, "You have to see this on the BIGGEST screen!" hype was nothing more than PR?

Keep in mind that I like the movie. But let's be serious, most of this movie is people just talking to each other, and no "IMAX experience" is going to change that. In my opinion, the "watch it on the biggest screen" hype as a marketing gimmick to make people thing the A-bomb explosion stuff as going to be a much bigger part of the movie than it ended up being.

Completely.
I enjoy Nolan, and I love most IMAX screenings, but this was a waste.
Bunch of overloud music up front during nothing, bunch of people talking. A couple wide shots.
Total waste of big screen. TV would be perfectly fine for this made for TV movie.

I thought it was a great movie, but I agree this really isn't one to showcase the big screen experience. Most of the movie consists of people talking.

lol - a drama film 'designed for a super big screen' - and you bought into it?
I saw some reviews and they said that just like the latest avatar, some scenes were extended, while other scenes were normal size - another BS marketing gimmick - lol

For the most part, but I also kinda figured that to begin with. Not sure why anyone thought this would be a thrilling imax experience when really what it came down to was a serious, well mounted biography of a complex individual. Why does everything have to be marketed as a visual feast? Sometimes something with a brain in its head can just be that.

If anyone's interested, I reviewed the movie on my youtube channel. Appreciate any feedback. Trying to improve -https://youtu.be/Bxldtu7MErw

absolutely right

So you are one of those people that think that only big budget action movies are worth watching on the big screen?

Go see ninja turtles in 3d then, they need the money more

It was good on non-imax screens (that's how I saw it) but halfway through I was thinking how I'd love to see it in iMax also bc I was really enjoying it. Last movie I saw in iMax was John Wick 4, which I loved, but definitely did not need to be seen in iMax.

What is this iMax? Apples latest technolgy for viewing movies on a iPhone's screen?

reply

Not sure if you're if you're serious or joking. iMax has been around for a while and isn't related to Apple.
