shareI'm an old man, so I'm probably target audience. Yeah, I do realize its better business to make movies for kids rather than old farts like me. Kids bring friends and whole families to cinema and they aren't as picky audience as long there's an overload of CGI and constant fighting going on.

shareOppenheimer was under heavy surveillance ever since his involvement of Manhattan project, that includes the night he spent with his mistress, government agents followed him from beginning to the end. With the documents of government inquiries into him unclassified, just about everything related to him was known.
Unless you are going into the conspiracy theories of the suicide of his mistress, there is no suspense.
If you don't know about him why watch a movie about him, if you knew then why bother to watch a movie? Historically speaking.

You could also read wikipedia about Mozart, but I believe it wouldn't be quite the same experience than watching Milos Forman's movie Amadeus (1984). Artists have the ability to create views that cannot be found in Wikipedia articles.
To watch things like that I think you have to be a fan, and just have to jump on anything related to the subject.

Bio films are limited by historical facts, so unless it is about heavily romanticized historical figures, unless they have no respect for history, for example Mel Gibson's "Braveheart", they are usually not good films.

That's a strange thought. I'm not a fan of Oppenheimer (or atomic bombs), I hardly know anything about him, but I'm curious of what Nolan has come up with the subject matter.
Then it is really about being a fan of the director.
The only work of Nolan impressed me was the batman trilogy, the rest of his movies were mostly weird. Tenet for me was the worst of it.
I would not go watching a movie just because he is the director.
LOL. I'm not a fan of Nolan. I think he is one of the most overrated directors. But he is still also one of the most interesting directors still active and working, which says a lot about current movie industry. I like primarily Memento, The Prestige and Batman Begins from him, rest of his movies are overrated.

I used to be like that when I was younger, watching movie was one of my main entertainments, I used to watch at least a movie a week, less selective than I am now.
Well, I'd like to think I'm selective in my choices. The latest movie I saw in theater was Joker in 2019. This year I'm interested only in three movies so far: Oppenheimer, Dune 2 and Ridley Scott's Napoleon.

shareWhere did I say that I'm not interested in the subject? And yes, I don't think so highly of Nolan as some of his fans do, but even when he fails (Interstellar, for instance) he is more interesting director than most of hired hands spewing out current superhero crap.
