Those corny Frankie & Annette beach movies featured a dancer named Candy Johnson. She had the bouffant hair I associated with my grandma & her friends. To my eye, it made Candy look at least 50. So I wondered what this crazy, old lady was doing in a movie for teens. Looked up her bio & was stunned to learn she was 20 at the time of filming.

Wanted to be charitable & assume fashion had done something similar, here. But I don't even keep up with that stuff. It's just a biological fact that they've aged. Maybe this is all addressed in the script?

You don't need a 17 year old actress to play a 17 year old character. Any actress will do as long as the character looks 17 on the screen.

All you need is a good makeup artist and if it's not enough, CGI will do the trick.
