Ridiculous exaggeration of female athletic ability

I doubt this girl weighs 100 lb soaking wet, but they show her landing hard punches in a boxing ring and overpowering male mercenaries in hand-to-hand combat. The scene where she kills a man by pinning him to the ground was truly laughable. And I doubt anyone with such a lack of musculature could be a good athlete, much less the superhuman specimen depicted here. Ridiculous movie.

This may be in issue with many films but i'll give this a pass because Lara Croft was always intended to be a highly stylized character with exaggerated abilities. Sort of like a female version of a Indiana Jones and James Bond combined.

First time you watched a movie with an unnaturally powerful, ass-kicking female. Yes? Or is this something you like to be critical of in general? Hmm.

There’s so much I can say about this but to keep it short: this particular Lara gal can do things you find unbelievable because she is, um, based on a video game character.

Small women beating up men twice their size in many other films... I fully enjoy it.

Warning: her tits are flat as a runway though.

First off, as everyone else has said, it's a movie that is itself based on an unrealistic video game so how realistic is it really supposed to be?

Second, I watched a video about her training for this film and she out on about 12 lbs of muscle and is also one of the few girls I've seen actually complete multiple pull-ups. She's not big, but she's packing a surprising amount of muscle on that small frame.

The average athletic 17 year old boy could probably beat her up, if he wasn't too busy self-pleasuring to her image instead 😂 ... But that is not the issue... The movie is based on a video game... anything goes... They could make her leap across 100 metre chasms and there would be ZERO issues with it...

Let go of the nerdy obsession with realism in movies that are not naturalistic... These kinds of movies are not the place for this...

Yes, people severly overestimate the physical strength of women... Go into any gym and you realise immediately how weak even the strongest non-rioded women are compared to an average athletic full grown dude... Or watch videos of several female cops failing to subdue a single guy... BUT that does not matter in Tomb Raider, Star Wars, Salt, Wonder Woman and such because those movies aren't meant to be naturalistic or realistic... It is fantasy and make believe... Video game and comic book movies... Tomb Raider even has magic artifacts and such... 😂

Insecure guys need to get over themselves about this "issue" and just go with the flow of the movie... Or watch something else that doesn't challenge their ability to suspend disbelief... Also bookmark this post for the inevitable recycling of this "issue" for the next woman led action adventure movie 😉

She didn’t kill a man by pinning him to the ground, she killed him by keeping his head under water until he drowned. You could still argue that he would have been able to shake her off, but it’s not the same thing at all.

And her opponent in the boxing ring at the beginning of the movie was a woman, in case you didn’t notice (I didn’t notice right away).

It’s nice that you noticed, and that it bothers you— because it’s fkn ridiculous— but this has always been the case with Hollywood’s lowbrow tentpole pop-action shïtflicks.

I remember watching Anne Hathaway “kick ass” in Intersteller, and even with every trick in the book, watching the kinked broomstick handles she has for arms and legs *knock out* grown men, it was enough to destroy all suspension of disbelief I had to that point.

Whenever a woman fights someone in an action movie, it always turns into a preposterous flurry of twig-like limbs and super quick editing, which sends humans many times her size flying through the air. (Partially cuz the woman has got to be a “skinny hot chick” with massive breasts.) So dumb. Past the age of 12, I don’t think it’s possible to enjoy movies like this and have any respect for yourself. 😂

Every tv police show uses the same trope.
