No wonder Scorsese is lashing out at comic book films, deep down he knows his films are not as good and so won't be making the same money nor have the same level of success as the Marvel films. They are better, more entertaining and connect with far more people. This new film of his is just another retread of films he has done before like Goodfellas and Casino, same formula.
shareI love Marvel movies and I love Scorcese's films, but the Irishman was just long and boring. DeNiro and Pesci were great in their day, but watching them play mobsters at this age felt like watching Magic and Bird play one on one in 2020.
shareThat's not even remotely the same thing. You don't need to be a young actor to say lines and occasionally pull out a gun and pull the trigger.
As far I remember, DeNiro only did any bit of running in the one scene where he chases that guy down and shoots him to death, and he only caught up with the guy because the guy fell down pretty hard. Not unrealistic at all.
You’re just talking about The Irishman? Because that’s understandable. To miss Cape Fear, Raging Bull and Taxi Driver though...I’d rather watch Raging Bull’s intro a thousand times than sit through any Thor or Hulk movies zzzz

shareThe only thing I some what dislike about this is the de aging they used. Deniro acted the part fine but his look was not believable at all. Especially when he was called the new kid.
shareIt is well documented that the incredible de-aging VFX technology in this movie is groundbreaking. A real innovation. We will see a lot of this in the future, and many will always look to this movie as the first. Although, I think this may have been used in Blade Runner 2049.
But, it was all believable. What wasn’t believable is that no one looked Irish or German - the heritage of the two main characters. Everyone looked Italian.
You must be 10 years old. How many Marvel films are there to be made. Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas; some of the best movies ever made. Pesci’s performance in this movie is one of the greatest in a long while. Best screenplay.
