Went in open minded

My Room was filled with venom action figures when I was a kid. He was my favorite character of all time. I’ve waited 20 years for this movie.

Tom hardy is also one of my favorite actors. Surely they can’t screw this movie up. I was also pretty buzzed which lowers my tolerance quite a bit.

All of these things combined and I was still disappointed. I wanted to really like this movie but I didn’t.

I didn’t like how Brock acted like a retarded grown man.
I didn’t like the extremely generic bad guy.
I didn’t like that we got like 2 action scenes with venom.
I didn’t like the childish banter with venom and Brock. Pretty sure at one point they were literally saying “no I’m not!” Yes you are! “Am not!”....I mean really...
Oh and I didn’t like that the symbiote Venom literally calls himself a loser.
I’m going to wash it again and give it another chance simply because I love venom so much but I hope I enjoy it more the second time around

Feel the same way about the way Brock acted. Also I might be able to buy a network having an investigative journalist dressing casual on air, but he dressed beyond like a slob. A lot of it just didn't make sense.

reply

Yeah I noticed that too he dressed like a thug during TV interviews.

Thought it was dumb how his boss literally tells him don’t pull any crap and then the next thing that’s exactly what he does and gets fired. As a kid you don’t notice those kind of things but now I’m like come on act like an adult lol

reply

Originally I thought he was just reporting on his youtube channel or something. I about fell out of my seat when I found out he worked for a network.

But you say that you went in "open minded"???

Are you describing yourself? You're the one with a room full of Venom toys and said you waited 20 years to see a film about your favourite doll LOL

LOOOOOOOOOOL

I said when I was a kid. And I would have killed to have a venom movie come out back then as opposed to now that I’m an adult. You’re not too bright are ya?

I didn’t know retards could use computers good for you. Enjoy your basement and hot pockets

reply

he must be one of those failures living in their parents basements, still playing with toys at the age of 30 wh ile thinking they're badass for arguing with people over the internet, am I right Bruno?

reply

Hey I've got a ton of figures/toys/etc but they're not to be played with! Many of them are far too expensive for that (and kill me now, I'm eyeing a nearly $400 figure of the Decepticon serial killer, Tarn... doesn't even transform! But it's lovely)

reply

no he is right, you are simply too obtuse to realize how stupid you are, madman.

Go and smell a raccoon turd, those are made for you, manchild.

reply

[deleted]

lol at how madman you got, Z.

reply

If MadmanZ got an x-ray, I bet the doctor would find at least half-a-dozen Venom action figures in his lower intestine...

Lol at overweight betamales who act tough behind a screen but are the biggest pussies ever In real life. Try talking to a woman in the real world before you talk shit on the internet

reply

if you believe it, it's not a lie, madam Still, even if you were right this would only confirm your omega status. And there are a lot of letters between beta and omega in the ancient Greek alphabet. Now be silent and go play with your toys.

reply

MadmanZ thinks playing with dolls makes him an alpha male! Unbelievable LOOOOOOL

reply

I thought it was ok, but it did get silly at the end. The problem I had was it was too generic. I still had a good time, but I have a feeling it's because I saw the Predator yesterday. I can probably tolerate anything after seeing that garbage.

reply

I;m surprised brock was handled like a good guy. From what I remember brock was an asshole in the spider man cartoon and was pretty much a tragic villian that we felt bad for but was villian non the less. This brock seems like an altruistic person that gets Fucked over by the symbiant, his employer and girlfriend. I'm not sure how brock and venom are handled in the comic book. Also I was suprised that venom himself becomes and starts becomming a dark hero. A murderous one but one that eventually targets criminals only.

reply

I went in with very low expectations and ended up enjoying it. Yes, it is stupid. Yes, it has some elemental plot flaws. Yes, Brock is a sloppy mess in appearance and behavior. Yet still, I liked it.
Worst part: "On my planet I am a loser too"
2nd worst: Symbiotes can rip metal but not break glass.

it probably deserves a 4/10 but I give it 7/10

reply

Yeah the symbiote calling himself a loser really bothered me. I’ll have to give it another watch

reply

I think its powerless without a host unless I miss something

reply

I really wanted to like this movie as well but agree with everything you've said. The first act was complete garbage and then when Venom finally turns up after the overlong motorcycle chase it really felt like the movie hurried towards it's conclusion. Felt like a good chunk of the movie was missing. I was reminded of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in that the movie didn't seem to flow at all and couldn't get that balance between seriousness and lightheartedness. The movie is just devoid of anything memorable or special and was definitely in need of a better script.

reply

>Felt like a good chunk of the movie was missing.

Considering Tom Hardy said they cut 40 minutes of his favorite bits I'd say that statement is accurate.

reply

Wha-a-a-a-a-t? You telling me Topher Grace's Venom in SM3 wasn't good enough for ya? LOL.

reply

"I didn’t like the childish banter with venom and Brock. Pretty sure at one point they were literally saying “no I’m not!” Yes you are! “Am not!”....I mean really..."

Funny enough a friend and I were discussing this movie's mixed reviews when a girl with a Venom... lanyard? I think it was walked up, so I asked her what she thought. She said that their banter was hilarious and people were thinking they could have their own sitcom.

My expectations went from low to almost 0 with that comment.
