So much filler I got a stomach ache...

Forget 80 minute episodes, that felt like three hours.

You were high
It was a good EP!

Pleased to meet you btw👍

I strongly disagree. It felt like almost every scene from the first and second episodes were rushed and left far too much unsaid (the notable exception being the fireplace discussion/Brienne knighting scene, which was brilliantly done).

reply

You'e only up to season 5 or 6? You shouldn't be here, you could be spoiled.

reply

I felt it like a big filler too. They even sang a song while showing random stuff, number 1 filler. You can basically skip the whole episode, the story didn't advance one bit, except for the last 2 min when Jon tells Daenarys about his origin.

Episode 1 : Jon learns he's the true king;
Episode 2 : Jon tells Daenarys he's the true king.

5 minutes of story for 2 hours of show.

You forgot Tormund stealing every scene he's in.

"The army of the dead is approaching, they will be here by sunrise. Where' the big woman?"
Ahahahah

reply

Dumbass that was the complete opposite of filler

reply

If you have any investment in the characters you wouldn't have been bored.

reply

Exactly this. Lots of interpersonal character moments in the first two episodes.

These episodes have also been setting the stage and getting all the players into position for the war to come.

Not filler. I thought both episodes have been great.

reply

👍
Not a dull moment!

Yikes. Where were you in the beginning seasons again? This was a return to form, and it was great. Do you have any concept of what "character development" or "tension building" is? This was essentially our last chance, in the entire fking show, to sit down with the characters we've grown to know and love, before all goes to shit.

I've seen multiple posts like this recently, acting like GoT was always this action-packed show. Ridiculous.

reply

Yes. All seasons have had filler. But this is the last season with 6 episodes (now 4) and nothing new has happened. They could have largely skipped this shit and still told the story.

They said for two years that every episode in the final season would be a movie. That was bullshit lies. Just like they lied to people about Deadwood for years. HBO gets away with false advertising all the time.

reply

There are all kinds of movies.

It's interesting to see the varying reactions to these eps. All you can conclude is, different people like different types of things. Newsflash!!!

I'm lucky. . .I like a wide variety of flicks. To quote (paraphrase) Kit Ramsey: "You wanna see a movie. . .not a *film*!!!"

"Nothing new has happened" is a gross misrepresentation of what they've done in these episodes. A LOT has happened. Emotional resonance, thematic development, palate cleansers, etc, etc. . .there is Waiting For Godot, and there is Transformers. And then there's Everything In Between. And they're *all* stories.

Worthwhile stories. YMMV.
