How did these people EVER have careers?

It's astonishing the amount of charlatans that get to have careers, all it takes is one hit movie I guess. I enjoyed this movie when it came out, but looking at it today it is so bad, and everyone involved is so incredibly untalented one has to wonder how they've managed to maintain constant employment and in such a level. People are so stupid, it's all about hype and appearance. What ever happened to Cameron Crowe?

If you say so...

It is a mystery. And not much.

What do you man THESE people?

You're an idiot

Agreed. Tom Cruise is a pretty one-dimensional actor and relies a bit too often on his perfect smile instead of true talent. Cameron Diaz is only in this film because she was the she-thang back in the early 00s. Penelope Cruz however does well at playing the passionate lover/figment of his imagination as she did in the original. The movie itself has a few interesting changes from Abre los ojos, but for the most part these changes work against the film. The biggest problem I have with the production is the horrid editing. I hate how the second half of the film begins to feel like one eclectic music video where the music fills in the void of substance.

What a load of nonsense you typed. First of all, Cruise doesn't have a perfect smile. He's got a tooth in the middle of his face. Secondly, he's hideously disfigured in half this movie. If he was reliant on this looks, the performance wouldn't have worked. He can definitely act.

I haven't seen many Cruise films but everyone I've seen he plays the same character. It was interesting seeing him portray a character with a disfigured face but he still wasn't acting.

He plays America in every movie... Well, America's idea of what it wants to be, in multiple dimensions, from Risky Business, to born on the 4th of July, to even the mission impossible movies... That's why he is so compelling worldwide and why he is so iconic...

It really changes the meaning of Vanilla Sky from the Spanish original, Abre Los Ojos, in an interesting way.

I really enjoyed Jason Lee in this film.

It's about who you know.

reply

The original Spanish version better and it also features Pennyloaf Cruzado in the same role.
