Not a funny as I remembered

It's true - you can never go home again.
Unless a young Cameron Diaz is there - YUM Unfortunately hasn't aged well. That's prolly why she abandoned Hollywood.

reply

It was never that funny. It was because you were 27 years younger.

reply

It's pretty fucking funny still. And pretty fucking dark.

reply

Then you are easily amused. You must watch a lot of the shows on Fox.

Tell me, when have YOU done comedy professionally?

reply

Go away, elitist, snobby, wanna be intellectual, pus-bag.

reply

Yeah, you sure got me in a box here mate.

reply

Diaz got dumped by Hollywood because she lost her looks and was never a great actress.

reply

Don't think so. She retired as an actor, just stopped taking offers and quietly walked away. Several lead roles in 2014 and then she was gone - though according to wikipedia she's busy with alternative business interests.

reply

Sure.

reply

I agree she was realistically C level as an actress, but I will always give her props for her performance in “My Sister's Keeper”. Especially so as her character, even as a mother of a sick daughter, was unlikeable for much of the film. She really did a fine job in that film.

I rewatched it last night for the first time in a LONG time. Genuinely over 20 years.

It's the sort of film that's a lot of fun when you're between 5 and 10. But I found the Jim Carrey-isms tiring and dated, he had his fun in the 90s but his whole thing is a bit irritating now.

Not an awful film but definitely of it's time and for a certain age demographic.

^This^
I remember enjoying Ace Ventura back in the day but Carrey’s schtick got really old, really soon. Can’t watch anything with him in it anymore.

reply

I never found it to be hilarious. I saw it maybe 2 years ago for the first time since 2001 and I guess the only thing I can say about the movie is that it's pleasant. Not great, but pleasant.

reply

It was one of the most overrated films ever.

reply

I disagree. I still find it funny. Especially the Cuban Pete scene.

reply

I never found it to be particularly funny. It was very entertaining though
