Upped the rating after rewatching it because of how unwoke it is...

Rewatching a lot of classics really sends you into a whirlwind of nostalgia.

Some of them don't hold up quite as well, while others hold up much better than expected.

The first two RoboCop films are timeless. The second one less so than the first, but it's still an adequate sequel and I don't think there's much you could have asked for from this one.

One big thing I noticed is that RoboCop performs more heroically in this one than in the first one. The first one has more thriller/horror elements and RoboCop for the longest -- while carrying out duties as a cop -- isn't really Murphy until the late half of the film. And even then, he's the underdog, butchered, battered, and fractured.

The second one shows RoboCop being a little more heroic and action-hero-y. Other than him being dismantled, he was pretty much always on the offensive and charging into the fight, and had good sense about his surroundings and his enemy. He was a lot more resourceful, too.

I don't really know how to feel about the suit change. In RoboCop 1 he was basically gunmetal silver. In the sequel he had that cool blue tint.

I think he looked a little more tank-like in the sequel, but he looked more intimidating in the first one.

Overall, though, I loved this film. And it holds up incredibly well, despite the stop motion sequences being dated. RoboCain looks fearsome, though. I don't think he sounded as fearsome as ED-209. But man, the spotlights and that samurai-style metal helmet was so menacing.

Compared to all the woke shenanigans of today's films, with their awful and poorly done CGI blood, tame body counts, small sets, and green screen galore (not to mention the emasculation of male heroes in Hollywood films, the feminist agenda, and all the diversity quotas), this film was such a breath of fresh air compared to all that tripe I had to go back and amp up the IMDB rating from a 7 out of 10 to an 8 out of 10.

If Robocop existed today, he would be on trial nonstop with so many black mommas crying, he was a good boy, he dindu nuffin. And ultimately Robocop would be dismantled for being racist.

Uhm...Robocop would be the one Officer not on trial. He actually shows good judgement and is fairly equal opportunity.

Police today have the itchy trigger fingers of an ED-209 and somehow, even less restraint. At least poor Mr Kenny got a 10 second head start.

You know this is a clown world, right? Even with Robo's video memory as evidence, especially by part 2' standard, people would cry "excessive force. just use your strength, you're not in any danger. You're bulletproof. He didn't need to die! He was turning his life around"

Ha, yeah I could totally see people saying that, even while RoboCop has video footage of a thug unloading on him with a automatic rifle and even stopping to reload.

Woke media would all be on the side of the perp even with RoboCop's footage of the event being admitted into evidence (which the media would conveniently not show until AFTER the guilty verdict is passed in a kangaroo court-style trial).

Exactly. Robocop would be dismantled after a jury comprised of 11 minorities and 1 old white lady find him guilty of excessive force and OCP would have to pay the family of the victims 4.5 million dollars.

In the case where the cop shot the black girl trying to stab another black girl the left knows damn well that if the cop hesitated and the girl got stabbed and died the headline would have been “Racist white cop stands by while innocent black girl is stabbed to death”

Quit being disingenuous, you know damn well had the rapist Robocop shot in the dick been black you would be calling for Robocop to be dismantled. There’s little to no evidence that cops largely just shoot innocent people for no reason, the only legit case of police brutality I’ve seen recently was Derek Chauvin and I think the entire country denounced him . Heck you people called the cops racist for shooting a suspect who was trying to stab a black female teenager. I guess they should have just let them stab each other

This is typically how it goes down:

Cop: Freeze, this is the police, stop charging at us, put your knife down and put your hands up
(Suspect continues to charge)
Cop: I said freeze, and put your knife down
(Suspect continues to charge)
Cop: this is your last warning, if you don’t stop we will be forced to respond with deadly force, do not make us do this
(Suspect continues to charge)
(Cops shoot suspect)
Liberal Media: Defund the police, the police are racist
BLM: no justice no peace, what do we want Dead Cops, when do we want them, Now
(BLM and Antifa start rioting)

Chauvin did NOTHING wrong. He was literally follow trained protocol for excited delirium. Nothing brutal about holding someone down to wait for EMS, who unless they had a stomach pump handy, was not going to save Floyd from ODing on the speedballs he swallowed to avoid more charges. Floyd wouldnt shut the fuck up with someone on his so-called neck. No one can speak CONSTANTLY with their supposed windpipe being shut by a knee, which didnt happen. Thousands of criminal scum have a knee put on their upper back, neck and dont die, because they dont have 5x times the lethal dose of fentanyl in their system during it. Chauvin is literally a railroaded martyr and it's terrible. And no one seems to give a shit. He did his job correctly and to the letter.

I rewatched ALL the bodycam footage and Chauvin shifted his knee around throughout the ordeal, but mostly kept it at Floyd's upper shoulder blades NEAR but NOT on his neck.

The more I thought about the situation, there was nothing they could have done to change the course of actions, since Floyd was going to die regardless of an overdose.

Had they kept him in the back of the SUV and he died in their custody on the way to the station, there still would have been outcry and the media calling it "reckless intent" and "negligent manslaughter", and Chauvin and crew still would have ended up in the same position.

They literally did EVERYTHING Floyd asked them to do, including bringing him out of the SUV when he repeatedly claimed he couldn't breathe. He TOLD them (not asked) to place him on the ground, and then did, and then held him there until EMS arrived.

They were tired, exhausted and exasperated while waiting, so it wasn't like Chauvin was intentionally trying to strangle the guy.

Now if people want to talk about negligent police behavior, look at the Arkansas case where a poor, straight-white male teenager was brutally executed by the police for no reason at all:

LOL, when OCP inserted all of those whacky directives into him that is literally what the modern day left wants to do to cops. They turned Robocop into a therapist and they literally want to take money away from cops and give it to therapists. Anyways that entire sequence was freaking hilarious. The guy is shooting at him and Robocop goes “Good morning, let’s talk this out”, LOL.

Yeah I noticed that, too. I couldn't help but think about all those woke morons talking about defunding the police". It hilariously happened in Minneapolis and just like in Robocop 2, the cops walked off the job and crime skyrocketed (exactly like in the movie).

Both films were WAAAAY ahead of their time, and it's amazing how relevant they are even by today's (awful) standards.

RC2 was, indeed good. As you say, not as good as the first but still worth watching. More brutal and gory.
Trivia: Written by Frank Miller whose Batman and Daredevil comic book runs have been praised, copied, and filmed. Not to mention indirectly inspiring Teenage Mutant ninja Turtles.

I must admit I gave the two sequels a miss at the time because I thought the original was such a classic that I knew they could never live up to it. However I did finally decided to watch them both after all these years. Sure they weren't as a good as the classic original, but they were still damned entertaining. I was about two thirds of the way through watching Robocop 2, when the same thought jumped into my head. This is so gloriously unwoke it's fantastic. I'm glad I finally watched it and Robocop 3.

i gotta watch this one. i remember watching the first one back in the day as a kid and thinking it kicked fucking ass. the dad from the 70s show did a great job playing a druglord street villain holy shit!!!

I usually rewatch RoboCop and RoboCop 2 every few years, I feel the special effects have held up pretty well. The lack of computer graphics keeps things feeling gritty and 'real', sort of like the original two Alien movies. RoboCop's blue tint, I suspect, was the result of OCP either painting him or they acquired a different source of metal alloy since the first movie.

Just found out today that Angie's actress, Galyn Gorg, passed away just last year summer at 55, due to cancer. Very sad.
