What season did you give up at?

I think 18 was when I quit.

Around season 20

About the time Ned's wife died.

Season 1

Season 9 I started to lose interest and now when I rewatch I try to go beyond but get bored.

Family guy season 10 is as about as far as I can go.

The only animated show I still watch new episodes of is South Park.

Sometime in the mid 00s, like 2004 maybe (Season 15 or 16). I gave up on SNL not long after as well.

I don’t remember, probably around s12-13. For years I didn’t watch it at all, then about ten years ago I started watching an episode here and there, found that it wasn’t so bad, and eventually went back to watching it regularly.

The “jump the shark” moment for me was an episode where Homer gets a gun and at one point uses it to shoot at the TV to try to change channels, because the remote is not working or has been lost, and he’s too lazy to get up. That was just so unbelievably stupid and unfunny that it made me finally stop watching, after a few years of being less than fully satisfied with the quality of new episodes.

I thought the gun episode was surprisingly even handed (politically I mean - something you rarely see these days). It was also very funny.

reply

I honestly do not remember anything about the episode other than the scene where Homer tries to change the channel by shooting at the TV.

reply

I think as he was shooting the TV, a guy on the TV show was coincidentally shot and clutched his chest making it look like Homer is the one who shot him.

He also opened a beer with the gun IIRC.

I thought it was going to be a total anti-gun hit piece, but they also had Krusty and his other "gun nuts" chastising Homer for being so careless about gun safety when he was opening beers with his gun.

Marge as you would expect was totally against Homer owning a gun (on many levels I'd imagine) but after the final scene when Homer threw the gun away, Marge picked it up and put it in her purse...

I stopped watching on TV around 11 or 12 but I stopped buying the DVDs at 10. The last good season was Season 9 imo.
