Was Daniel truly a victim of bullying?

The whole issue was Daniel meddled in Johnny's private affairs. He interrupted Johnny's argument with Ali, attacked Johnny and kept pushing him. Then continued to be around Ali when he knew she was taken.

reply

She wasn’t taken. They had broken up.

reply

Still have the good sense to stay away from her if you know you will get your ass kicked.

reply

It’s been a while but wasn’t Daniel putting the moves on her before he even realized Johnny existed? Seems pretty fair.

reply

Yes Daniel was a victim. Now he did make some stupid and hot-headed mistakes that worsened his situation, but he was still the victim none the less.

reply

Watch again. Daniel didn't interrupt the argument, he simply picked up the radio that Johnny grabbed from Ali and smashed to the ground. When Daniel attempted to hand the radio back to Ali, he attacked Daniel and pushed him to the ground. Johnny started it.

Ali wasn't taken: they broke up. Ali was free to date anyone including Daniel. In KK2, we learn that after Daniel and Ali broke up, she didn't go back to Johnny - she started dating a college jock.

Should Daniel have stayed out of it? In retrospect, yes. Johnny wasn't going to commit murder/suicide. But then, it wouldn't be much of a movie if Daniel stayed on the sidelines.

reply

Johnny murdered Ali's radio.

reply

More involuntary radioslaughter than murder, no?

Someone has watched Cobra Kai.....great show.

reply

Cobra kai didnt start the daniel is the bully thing
It was YouTube joke from 9 years ago and then producers of ck decided to make it the way johnny sees things as a nod to that. It works and is pretty funny.

reply

This joke was funny for 5 minutes about 10 years ago.

reply

Exactly. It was funny, maybe for more than 5 minutes even, but it did get old. It really got tiresome when the trolls were done with it but dullards actually interpreted the story as Daniel being the bully.

I think that's how the flattard movement got started: as a joke by trolls, but then those lacking the necessities to understand even basic physics started believing in a flat Earth. Scary when you really think these people are walking among us.

reply

...that's actually probably how some of these things start actually. It never occurred to me.

reply

Daniel was the aggressor when he turned the water on those guys. Nobody can argue with that.

This is one of three similar threads about this topic. One references this video here which is funny and insightful. It does remind you of some things and makes you watch the film with a fairer attitude.

I'm thinking of Daniel's sucker punch on Johnny. Johnny roughed him up a bit and was done. He wasn't going to hurt him. Then Daniel sucker punches him something totally unacceptable in a fair fight and Johnny beats him up some more but even then Johnny shows some restraint.

reply

Johnny wasn't sucker punched. He was caught with a cheap shot. Two different things.

reply

Yes.

This joke isn't funny anymore.
