A scene should be edited out

One scene in particular I find very offensive. When the motorcycle cop arrives at the camp asking if anyone saw that crazy man Ralph, Ned is shown playing around in an indian headdress while yelling and mocking native American culture. These networks need to pay more attention when they play these movies. We all need to move on from this nations past racist history and cancel it

reply

All jokes put aside, I wouldn't mind if they edited out the snake scene. Not only was it pointless and badly acted, the snake suffered for no good reason. It's especially awful if the story is true about the handler not being informed about what would happen to his snake.

reply

Seriously? It's a f'n snake. We should kill all snakes while we're at it

reply

Why?

reply

Because they're creepy and dangerous?

reply

The majority of snakes in North America are not dangerous.

reply

Um, they could slither down your throat while you sleep or they could lounge at you and strike you right in the eyeball

reply

The chance of encountering a lounging snake is about 1 in 840 in that area.

reply

Doesn't matter. Jason would have ended up killing that snake anyway.

reply

He might have straightened it into the shape of an arrow and then shot it at an unsuspecting camper through a bow.

reply

It was a snake completely harmless to humans. Why the hell did it have to suffer pain for an utterly pointless and stupid scene in a mediocre movie? It's also disrespectful to its owner if he truly had no idea.

reply

Cutting the scene won't bring it back, though.

reply

I don't think I ever implied it would.

reply

This was 1980. Back when people weren't oversensitive as now.

reply

1980 called, it wants its casual racism attitude back

reply

People were able to laugh it off and move on. No biggie. Nowdays, it's a whine-fest.

reply

can i quote you on that, michael?

reply

I'm glad this isn't 1980 anymore

reply

That’s why owning physical media is desirable. No one wants to watch a film that has been altered by a streaming service who wants to decide what’s acceptable or not based off trends.

reply

You think its acceptable to make fun of native americans?

reply

Yes I do. Destroying films is akin to burning books. If you don’t like the content of a film, then don’t watch it. It’s that simple.

reply

Thats why I will never again watch this movie. Its on our no watch list, given to us by our college professor

reply

I have a feeling your trolling for a reaction.

reply

Search your feelings, you know it to be true

reply

They edited French Connection and didn't tell anybody. Disney owns the rights to French Connection and they passed the blame on to an 87 year old Friedkin.

reply

You can't censor movie history like that and even if it's such a small scene. The fans would never accept Friday the 13th in such an edited fashion. Horror movies are not for everyone and if you don't like it don't watch it.

reply

But the racist scene is not part of the plot in this movie. There is just no need for it

reply

So if we cut the scene and pretend it didn't happen, then how do we learn from it? The truth is native American headdresses were sold for white people to "play Indian". The truth is back then no one thought it was offensive. Do we go through all films and cut out everything that is no longer acceptable?

reply

If they start cutting out the bits where characters are smoking in hospitals and on aeroplanes I'll go nuts!

reply

The character got what he deserved.

reply

It's a movie not real life.

reply

But wasn't this movie based on actual events?

reply

No it wasn't based on actual events lol

reply

Who cares if you find it offensive or not? Cry us a fucking river lol

I find your cry baby post offensive, should you delete it?

reply

They also need to edit out all reference to Jason, the retarded boy, as a figure of horror. This gives retards everywhere a bad name and is extremely harmful.
