Smart little kid ... LOL

https://twitter.com/GretaThunberg/status/1615618850711552000

Tweet from Thunberg today talking about being "kettled" by police. I know she is 20 years old, but still, quite a vocabulary.

I'm a native English speaker and I have never heard that term used before in my whole life. To be fair, it is apparently chiefly a British expression.

Kettle (v) (of the police) confine (a group of demonstrators or protesters) to a small area, as a method of crowd control during a demonstration: the plan was to get as close to the protest as possible without getting kettled | (as noun kettling) : police were criticized for their use of controversial tactics such as kettling.

Now we all know this term.

reply

A history of police kettling https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2011/apr/14/history-police-kettling

reply

Yeah, I actually remember that, but I don't recall hearing the term used at the time. I think the same thing has been done at these global meeting elsewhere also, like in Canada.

reply

First I've heard about "Kettling".

Her arm has grown long if she can purloin recherché vernacular from under our very noses.

She is becoming wise and cunning. I fear her ascent into God/Demonhood will be littered with the skulls of her enemies.

Indeed she is powerful, as Andrew Tate forseen.

reply

recherché - my god, another new word? Rare, exotic or obscure.

I just have to admire how these women like Greta Thunberg and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortex can get so far under the skin of the right wing nuts - even as they whine about the Left having Trump derangement syndrome.

reply

It boggles my mind that giving a shit about the environment is a right left divide.
You'd think it'd be a universally agreed policy.

reply

All those Republicans who talk about freedom and thinking for themselves are all too willing to swallow all manner of BS and goosestep in submental sync with the political moron mafia.

reply

It's not that the right doesn't care about the environment. The disagreement is over what the best course of action is
over something that has most definitely not been settled by science, and the level of blind, sheep-like hysteria that is warranted. It boggles a rational person's mind that any such considerations would be condemned by the left.

reply

Yeah but the best course of action is definitely not :
"Ignore the whole issue because its inconvenient for me and costing money / profit"

reply

Neither Thunberg nor Absence of Cortex is psychologically or intellectually a woman. They are both know-nothing shills for the lunatic left.

reply

Thanks for the toxic misogynist's point of view. Won't be needing that.

reply

I think the enmity towards Greta is to do with her lack of credentials. She was obviously young an unstudied in the vastly complex issues she was speaking about at her initial unveiling. There are many experts who disagree with her invectives but are not being listened to because they don't have the platform/movement behind them. Also many regard her to be merely a puppet. Some are just frustrated by the ineffectiveness of hitting people over the head in nations like the UK about climate change when ultimately the true countries that actually affect change such as India and China are not interested.

reply

That's a BS excuse by Republicans. If lack of credentials was a "thing" the most significant lack of credentials, and public proof of such was Donald Trump's pathetic 2016 campaign in which I don't think he ever answered any question correctly. From mistaking the Iranian KUDS force for the Kurds, to not have the slightest clue as to what the nuclear triad was. And he went on like that for months and months and then Republicans still voted for him.

To express an opinion is every citizen's right, and dear Greta's opinion was not only informed by correct, passionate and resonated with millions of other people who were sick and tired of moronic mindgames of the extreme Right - who are just puppets of the super-rich elite who finance all this Orwellian Newspeak.

I daresay that underage kid would have made a better President that Odious Orange-u-tan.

Think again.

reply

Excuse me, It's not so much "think again".

I am merely outlining the noise I come across regarding your heroin Greta. You spoke about her getting under the skin of right and I am discussing what accusations they retort with in a personally uninvolved manner.

But what I have noticed is that you can't seem to get by more than a post or two without dragging Trump and the Republican Party into it.

I'm not even American. But looking in the left have much to ashamed about just as the right do. Leave me out of your mudslinging. It's already boring.

Dismissed.

reply

> But what I have noticed is that you can't seem to get by more than a post or two without dragging Trump and the Republican Party into it.

Ah, typical personal attack. Dragging a man who is a threat to the people and government of this country is totally appropriate. Same reason Hitler is often used as the exemplar or evil.
Guess you'll just have to deal with that.

> But looking in the left have much to ashamed about just as the right do.

Oh phoney baloney. The old, accept my false BS equivalency because I claim not to be an American.

Hope you go to some of the Right-wing-extremists here and are equally critical of their far worse rhetoric ... but I suspect you will not.

You spelled "this missed" wrong.

reply

"Ah, typical personal attack."

No, get over yourself. It was a casual observation. Wow. You really are wound up so tight.

"Oh phoney baloney."

So the left in your eyes are utterly blameless in all things?

" because I claim not to be an American."

Why would I lie about not being American?

"Hope you go to some of the Right-wing-extremists here and are equally critical of their far worse rhetoric ... but I suspect you will not."

I have not ran into any yet. I have not being on the site long. You are the first screwball I have encountered. Just my luck to get a triggered radical rabbit leftists straight off the bat. Ah it is what it is. I blame the internet. And you blame... well, we know who you blame.

reply

> Wow. You really are wound up so tight.

Another of your typical personal attacks.

> Why would I lie about not being American?

Because you are a Republican and get off lying about everything.

>> Hope you go to some of the Right-wing-extremists here and are equally critical of their far worse rhetoric ... but I suspect you will not.

I was correct.

> a triggered radical rabbit leftists

Yep, another Republican troll.

I actually thought you were British, like myself, due your native speaker comment. That was why I initially responded to your post about Greta purloining "kettling" from under "our" noses.

I am Scottish, from the UK and I was also encountering this word for the first time.

It seems your obsession and hatred with the Republican party has you seeing enemies in every shadow you come across. With respect I do not think that it very healthy. As I said previously your posts are constantly going on about the Republicans and Trump even when the initial conversations are unrelated. It's clearly obsessive.

I think you have some issues and I hope you can work through them.

I realise you ill want the last word, so I will afford you that luxury. It will mean far more to you than it will me.

reply

> It seems your obsession and hatred with the Republican party

Only an idiot or severe drug abuser wastes time like that.

reply

You live blinded by a fog of leftist hate. I feel sorry for you.

reply

> Only an idiot or severe drug abuser wastes time like that.

Like I said, and then you show up as if to prove my point. Everything you do or say is driven by your marching orders from Trump Central Command, attack the Woke, own the Libs. To be able to sustain that for years takes multiple networks like Fox News, and paid trolls to dump all over any public discussion with lies and fake sentiment.

reply

Like I said, blinded.

We all seen the underpants gnomes episode

reply

Common expression in the UK. A police tactic for handling protesters.

reply

I think it's likely that Greta has a script ( and gag ) writer if not a bunch of them.

reply

obviously. Will her next tweet be about the blokes and birds who were kettled with her?

reply

So the tweet was written by someone from the UK. Sounds right.

reply

Maybe you should get someone from the UK to write your posts.

reply

how dare you, you bugger?

reply

She's a petulant bitch.

reply

A mentally challenged brat peddling hysteria to the sheep at the behest of her manipulators, all for money.

reply

All for control/resources, not money, i.e. a means of exchange issued by the central government?

reply

Greta is a 20 year old woman, how dare you call her "little kid". When it comes to women and girls, this shows us exactly where your mental framing is.

reply

Good, stick to that you will never disappoint yourself.

reply

You found it amazing that a "woman" could come up with such a word, didn't you? It tickled your funny bone... right?

reply

You're an idiot.

reply

At least I don't go around calling women "little kids" like you do. You should apologize for calling her this. I bet if she was black you would have found it even more amazing and thrilling that a black person could come up with words like that.

reply

Just admit you made a mistake, Trent.

There is no shame in having to apologize for being a woman-hater.

Sounds like a re-branded phrasing of the military cauldron strategy.
