I'm a bit nutty, sure. Unlike most people, I admit it. Apart from posting here though, my behaviour is not very nutty at all. I don't engage in any forms of violence, and I'm not a member of any extremist organisations or groups. I'm not ranting on street corners, I'm not self-harming, and I'm not taking drugs or habitually drinking.

In fact, by most test scores, I'd be considered very sane and ordinary. If anything, most doctors and psychs would say I overstate my actual nuttiness.

And like I say, it's Sunday night. Sure, I have time on my hands. So what?

I don't know, but these guys are all over the place. It's insane. They're on Tik Tok and YouTube, too. There are tons of "incentivized" posters camped out everywhere, and they've been at it for years.

Here is my most favorite example of how long they've been doing this. It's very easy to catch them if you're from a place like NYC, because NYC is always in the news, and these guys with their British spellings and expressions will be all over our local news sites trying to pass, and they'll talk as if they're from New York but get the geography, locations and everything else wrong. I've been trying to take screenshots of these people because no one would believe me that on local American news sites, I've had Japanese people calling me a socialist, Canadians calling me a Trumptard, Caribbeans making snide cracks about California, Florida, etc.

The OP is another one of these people. He just keeps randomly Googling or looking up American IPs that have zero relevance to his culture and yet knows to make posts about so he can keep pot stirring. And then, to make matters worse, he keeps the charade up, like he knows so much about American culture, politics, people, trying so hard to ingratiate himself to Americans like he's one of us.

It's SICKENING, and all of you guys who do this are SICK. I can't say this enough, that if THIS is how you expect to defeat Americans, it makes you all look pathetic and cowardly.

I haven't ignored this one--YET--because he's a slicker type of troll who knows how to use psychology to bait people into thinking he's just a regular person who wants to have a normal conversation. So, I posted this thread to warn others to not get taken in by him.

ETA: For example, someone from Chicago was getting into an intense debate with him about American politics and then felt he had to justify himself to what he thought was a "normal" poster. I had to explain to the post that OP is not only a troll but a foreigner who knows nothing about American politics, culture or even the era they were debating about.

I wont name them at the moment, but another poster popped up around the same time and they share the same M.O. All they do is provoke and argue. I havent added them to ignore just yet. But its getting there. Had to edit: I went ahead and just added them both. Other poster was Skavau. I think people do this because they get off on making people angry. Its trollish behavior out of maliciousness, not ribbing fun.

There are also posters who post toxic comments after a celebrity death. I used to defend the celebrity but now I take a look at the poster's history. If they are an insult troll they go on ignore. If they are not I'll engage the poster in a discussion.

These posters are sad.

Thats the good thing, we have documentation of a users behavior. When I first joined, I added several to ignore after seeing numerous ugly and mean-spirited posts. But at some point I let up and thought "Lets just see, maybe people have bad days, maybe its a joke"? I've posted a few messed up things before but as a joke. Troll a little but all in good fun, not malicious. But looking at some of these peoples histories. Why come on this movie site, yet there isnt a single post or question about a movie to discuss or analyze? All of them are political, divisive, mean-spirited, or just arguing with no real goal in site.

I've had some arguments with people, just stuff we dont agree on, yet later will engage in discussion and analysis on another thread with no hard feelings attached. Other times i have gotten such a mean uncalled for response, yet their history shows they have thoughtful discussion and insights at times too. This is when I have to remind myself to just be careful not to get ignore happy. I will for sure just pay attention to the behavior and see if its worth keeping them on.

I'm not intentionally 'pot stirring'. I just have particular preoccupations, and I'm interested in other people's opinions.

In fact, I'd hope that the fact I'm not partisan (I'm openly a leftist, but many of my OPs don't always adhere to the 'party line', and occasionally question apparent 'liberal' or 'woke' orthodoxy) would be a good thing, because I'm not really coming here with an agenda, other than to (1) express myself and (2) try and understand why people think and act the way they do, contrary to what logically makes sense from my perspective. Suffice to say, I struggle with cognitive dissonance, so I have to make sense of the world.

I'm a moderate leftist. I see *some* merit in 'PC' and 'woke' thinking, which is why I take umbrage when that type of thinking is applied in extreme, unfair or inconsistent ways.

To me, Scott Adams is a racist. He should be called out for his blatant bigotry.

But that doesn't mean I have to agree with Meghan Markle/Prince Harry, or attack Chris Rock (who, people seem to have forgotten, is a liberal, albeit one who, like me, questions certain orthodoxies), or think that Roald Dahl books should be cancelled.

And bear in mind that my topic "Right-Wing Men and Militant Female Feminists Are in Cahoots' was an attack on *both* extremes. I *have* ignored many of those people here. However, this one I'm monitoring (and documenting), because he's made it very easy to see how these trolls operate and what their methods are. I've never seen one play the long game before, where they spend weeks pretending to be one thing and then once they gain everyone's trust, just flip the script.
