What feels better? A massage or surgery without anesthesia?
shareRidiculous question.
Quite obviously Sir Roger. He played the part seven times (the most often in the original pre Craig series). Dalton on the other hand, presided over the of the lowest grossing Bond films of all time and was largely disliked by the public at the time.
A better, more interesting question would be to question the tenures of Sir Roger vs Connery.
Roger Moore was a kind of campy James Bond, an effeminate jokey guy. I thought Dalton did a good job, and liked his movie better, I still remember that car chase around Gibralter ... at least I think I do. Moore's Bond movies were like cartoons.
Craig's were pretty good, but that pointless disgusting ball smacking scene grossed me out of the Bond genre.
I like both, Moore was 007 in several movies, so in this way you have more chances to have "great moments " as James Bond. Dalton was only in two movies, he did it well.
shareI think I'm mostly in alignment here. I like both, although I do prefer Dalton's portrayal.
Basically, I feel like Dalton was a better Bond, but because Moore isn't trying to do that - he's trying for dapper and quippy, not the gentleman-thug that "pure Bond" is - I can't really fault his performance because they don't have the same goal.
And your last point I will echo entirely: with seven films, Moore participated in some wonderful Bond adventures, so even though I'm not as big a fan of his Bond, I am a big fan of The Spy Who Loved Me, For Your Eyes Only, and Live and Let Die.
Although, let the record show that I think Licence to Kill is one of the most underrated Bond films of all-time (along with The World is Not Enough).
Moore, no contest. Moore is still the solid number two Bond, after Connery, and probably always will be since they seem to be getting worse and worse.
shareMoore turned charm to the max and he is a legend. Not as good as Craig as a ruthless killer, but they are both excellent in their own way. Connery's era was before I was born, so he has remained a little more distant to me. These are the three greats, the rest deserve no mentioning.
