I like Tarantino's films, but you'd have to be a bit of a dope to like them because 'the majority of people and critics' like them and/or because they make money, wouldn't you?
Because he never conformed to the Hollywood model, especially in present times. He rocks the boat. In general, people who can create whatever they want without having to bow down to “current popular pressure” are going to catch some flack.
He should be celebrated because after Pulp Fiction he created a new genre of film that other directors emulated, not unlike Sergio Leone.
i would also say hes perfect at homaging genres, and makes it in his own style that borrows heavily yet also feels fresh,with great dialogue and story.
shareaccording to what? Rotten Tomatoes? That's setting the bar pretty low. Most people will tell you that OUATH and the Hateful Eight are okay at best, but lots think they were garbage. Almost everyone agrees Django falls apart in the third act. QT has a style and it's pretty played out by now. How many revenge films is he gonna make? Can he even write a finale that doesn't involve murder?

The general consensus of that film is that it's a masterpiece; an opinion I agree with. Certainly the film doesn't appeal to everyone across the board, and the slower-witted audience members who are better served by a Fast and Furious film but somehow ended up seeing OUATIH may well not understand what they watch, but most any discriminating film-goer will reap significant joy from each viewing of that film.

Wes Anderson is the archetypal 'auteur'. Some love his style, others hate it, some used to love it but are over it now. Tarantino is in a similar boat.
Most of Tarantino's work is dialogue driven revenge plots, A-list big budget productions masquerading as B-movie cult flicks.
Death Proof and Pulp Fiction are the only two movies of his I'd say I like. The others are just okay. (I've seen all his movies except Jackie Brown and The Hateful Eight.)
Death Proof, Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown are my top three.
Definitely give Jackie Brown a shot if you get a chance. It’s a much different feeling film than his others.

He was really annoying with his "cool talk" which every character in his movies seemed to talk in the beginning of his career. Then his latest movies, except for The Hateful Eight, have been lacking. I'd say he peaked during Jackie Brown and Kill Bills.

i found the reservoir dogs gimick got boring. i just want wowed seeing Tim Roth, an actor playing a cop pretending to act playing a criminal. his dialogue where hes trying to convince the mobsters/criminals he is one of them is suposed to be so cool and great and it just didnt do anything for me.
its not a bad film, i just think because i hold inglorious and django and pulp fiction and jackie so highly/

He has flashes and moments of greatness, but not as much as his ego would imply.
I love Inglorious Basterds, but hated Django... wtf was that crap with the horse dance at the end?! And yes, "Candie" was a POS, but they tried to SWINDLE him... and got caught.... all that ending was was gratuitous violence toward the "plantation owner" even though they tried to do him dirty and GOT CAUGHT!!!
Also, FUCK jaimie foxx! Right in his stupid face!
And that crap with Bruce Lee in the hollywood crap he did... and fuck brad pitt too!!!

Not the same. DiCaprio was amazing and particularly disgusting! He had every "right" to kill them. To dice and "disappear" them, but he didn't. He wanted their PRIDE. And they fucked up. Had they been interested in getting the girl, then they would have "shaken his hand" and left with the girl, but no, they go on a rampage, killing everyone but the horse that did their stupid dance! I don't BUY foxx as a slave, and I wasn't into ANY of the story. Doesn't mean I am a nazi sympathizer because I LOVED Inglorious Basterds for the lovely slaughter of all them fuckin nazis!
