John Wick Or Neo?

I remember watching John Wick the day it came out on Blu Ray and Thinking Keanu Reeves may actually be remembered more for this role than Neo

I must admit I'm very biased, As John Wick Is my All Time Favorite Action Movie...

But now With John Wick 1 and 2 Out, Both very Successful at the box office and With critics and fans and a third one Announced and on the way....

and With The Impact the film is having on other actions movies, A ton Of Action movies are trying to replicate/copy John Wicks Action Style...

I think Its entirely Possible, 10 years from now, The next generation Will remember Reeves most for his Role as John Wick over Neo....

I also think theres a very good possibility There may end of being 4 or 5 John Wick films in Total and Maybe some spin offs...

what say you?

Obviously The Matrix films are Iconic and have reached a larger audience, But IMO I still think its possible John Wick May end up being Reeves most Iconic role and Defining Career role

Wick for me any day
These movies are thrilling and Keanu is a super badass

I never cared for The Matrix series and hardly recall any of it

John Wick is a much cooler character and a total badass.

But as much as I like the John Wick movies I have to say that the first Matrix is still better.

I Like Like Both John Wick films better than The Matrix

I do admit The Matrix is the All around better and more significant movie...

The First Matrix Movie is an ALL TIMER.....unfortunately what followed was 2 Sequels that werent even close to the same quality....Revolutions was IMO Awful

Reloaded was average to Above Average...

If I had to Rank them, my Rankings would be....

John Wick-10/10
John Wick 2-9/10
The Matrix-10/10
The Matrix Reloaded 7.5/10
The Matrix Revolutions-5.5/10

The sequels to Matrix aren't as good as the original but I do like them, propably more then most people. But it lookd like John Wick is shaping up to be a more solid franchise.

I wish I could see the Matrix for the first time again because I watched it so many times back in the day that I ruined it a little for myself. It's still a great movie tho.

I'd rank them like this:

The Matrix 10/10
Reloaded 7,5/10
Revolutions 7/10

John Wick 8,5/10
John Wick 2 8/10

It depends on how good the next John Wick movie is.... And if they stop at 3.

The second Wick movie didn't have a climax. It just set up the third movie...

I think with time people will look back and consider the first John Wick movie to be iconic and the rest to be nice additions...

I think his career defining role, he will always be remembered as Point Break 😎😉

I think it will depend on a persons age and possibly what they have seen first. I think he is better as John Wick. Both John Wick movies are good and the third I am hoping will keep the quality of the first two. The Matrix is a good film, however if the sequels didn't exist the world would be a better place. I saw the Matrix when it was new and liked it, but if i had to choose which I enjoyed more it would be John Wick.

So you dont think he will primarily be remembered as Johnny Mnemonic? :)

What you said at the end, I couldn’t agree more with. To argue that his role as Neo remains the more iconic and superior one is understandable. But in my book, John Wick is destined to become the role Keanu is associated with the most (providing another equally great memorable role doesn’t fall into his hands—unlikely maybe). Frankly, as much as I love him as the otherworldly, kick ass, bullet-dodging/bullet-stopping Neo, in this viewer’s eyes his role and performances as John Wick are becoming his coolest and greatest. And this generation will DEFINITELY remember Keanu more for John Wick than Neo, and that’s completely cool! Overall, I must say I rank the two roles about even, however, whenever I think about Keanu now (been a long time fan), John Wick is the first thing that’s starting pop into mind... as well as Utah, I love him in Point Break. Ah, screw it! I already prefer him as Wick! :D

In terms of the movies, The Matrix is a Sci-fi/action epic in a league of its own. A complete and utter classic! That being said, I love the John Wick films just as much, if not better than the 1999 classic. But would I say The Matrix is necessarily better? The Matrix, I feel, is a “grander” film than the first Wick. But, it’s no more impressive from a technical aspect than Chapter Two — a flawless action film, if you ask me. So while the size/scale and awe-inspiring nature of The Matrix can’t be beaten, the impact, choreography, cinematography, and excitement level of both John Wick films is second to none. Not to mention they’re a masterclass in visual storytelling.

Bottom line: these are all fantastic films but the John Wick series is slowly becoming my favorite thing Keanu has ever done. He rules :)

No John Wick film will ever beat the matrix in terms of overall quality movie. The main reason being as fun as John Wick is it doesn't come close to the substance or impact the Matrix had. John Wick while a good movie doesn't bring as much to the table as the Matrix did.

John Wick we've all seen before it's just the execution and style that saves it. I personally am baffled how much they are loved. I enjoy them well enough but I thought the raid redemption and the raid 2 were better films personally.

Now in terms of an over all franchise John Wick will most likely be more consistent. The matrix spirals downhill fast after the first. The third was just bad. Thing is he might be remembered more for John Wick because when you think of the John Wick film he is the first thing you think of.

Honestly even though Matrix was fantastic Neo is not the most memorable character. Morpheus and Mr. Smith stick out much more than Neo does. I could picture another actor portraying Neo I can't picture anyone else playing Mr. Smith.

This! I was starting to think I was alone thinking this. Honestly, I might have missed something, but John Wick simply looked like your average brainless action flick.

The Matrix (the first one) on another hand is a sci-fi classic which had a real impact on people and gained somehow of a cult status.

So for me, The Matrix all the way.

Yes. John Wick at its core is nothing new. But its execution is so damn good.
